  2. @AstroSkipper ReBaseImage updates the timestamp inside PE header, which also effects calculated checksum, also written in the header, so only these two fields will differ if everything else is identical. So, TimeDateStamp field of IMAGE_FILE_HEADER and CheckSum field of IMAGE_OPTIONAL_HEADER (https://0xrick.github.io/win-internals/pe4/). Hm, LiBase's default config assumes DLL that is not bigger than 1 MB (relevant for putting multiple DLLs through the process). Edit: Actually, the function takes that timestamp as the parameter. LiBase just uses the result of standard time() function with NULL as the parameter, so current time. But if you pass 0 to ReBaseImage, it will increment the currently stored timestamp in the executable by one second.

  3. Sure. If it reduces memory consumption and does not affect the browser general use I will update all browsers with it.

  4. Thanks, I'm an old cat (MEOW!) who knows some tricks...took me a while to remember though. Hello @mixit! You are absolutely right! I also tried to rebase the chrome.dll of 360Chrome 13.5.1030 rebuild 6 and failed. Only after removing the file signature with your recommended tool delcert, I was able to rebase this chrome.dll, too. Thanks for your tip! Yes, most work is done by ReBaseImage function, which checks for digital signature and bails out if it exists. It's logical when you think about it, when you digitally sign the executable, you seal it for release and don't change it anymore afterwards. It's possible to write own function for rebasing if you like to crunch through the executable manually. I think it was the chrome.dll from the version 360Chrome v13.5 build 2022 rebuild 3. @NotHereToPlayGames's rebuild 3, regular build, here's the ungoogled one. I'm sure @NotHereToPlayGames will include the rebased version in next rebuild. I would assume it should be. Hold on, have to get back home from work, lunch and so on, I'll check it later.

  5. This rebasing is VERY exciting news! Can't thank the "team" enough! I can't test until back home, but I'm starting to think that the rebase is why my multi-monitor setup at home crashes first launch and first launch only if I remove the Vulkan .dll's. Would also prove interesting to compare rebased 1030 with rebased 2022.

  8. Here are the top Christmas movies of all time, in my eminently correct opinion. You're welcome. Harris Rigby ··Dec 23, 2022 · NottheBee.com "I know that everyone who reads Not the Bee always looks forward to our lists that give you the definitive non-opinion-based rankings of things like music, movies, and food. So in the spirit of the holidays, I want to give you a definitive list of all the Christmas movies worth watching. I won't rank them in any particular order (although there is one movie that is THE best) but just know, if it's on my list it's a keeper. And if it's not on my list, well, there are better uses of your time. Without further adieu, the best Christmas movies of all time. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Okay, after this they are in no particular order. But there is no doubt in my mind that the funniest, most enjoyable, and best Christmas movie of all time is from the rowdy bunch at the Griswold house. Here's a small sample, my favorite moment of the movie: If you can only watch one Christmas movie, make it this one. If you have time for more, there are lots of good ones...." ... 11. Hi .. By chance, would this mew method by @UCyborg be possible to update DC Browser?
    1 point
  12. @UCyborg Could that method result in a person not being able to execute the browser by any chance? If it is safe, I will also include it with my stuff as well. Thanks for sharing! Cheers.

  14. There are already multiple versions compiled with QT5 and fully working on Win7. First one you can grab here: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/405407-NON-OFFICIAL-Windows-builds-of-MKVtoolnix/page3#post2672418 Second one here: https://github.com/jpsdr/MKVToolnix-QT5-Windows-7 The first version seems to be updated regularly and available few hours or days after official release. It is opensource, so everybody can do this.

  15. This browser is starting to go from a need to use to want to use. I think, folks, we in this next release - with the help of @UCyborg, and, @mixit - we'll see a FANTASTIC build/release and one that we should promote. If @NHTPG can fix that minor blip in the address bad when the text vanishes away and you need to re type at first launch, people will be fighting to get their hands on this new awesome piece of software! A privacy focused friendly light weight browser. Even better than ungoogled chrome; period! :

  16. I already did that. Version 1030 runs more smoothly on my old system than version 2022. Both versions are consuming very little RAM.
    1 point
  17. I think it was the chrome.dll from the version 360Chrome v13.5 build 2022 rebuild 3. I also downloaded @UCyborg's rebased chrome.dll to compare it to mine. The sizes (of original and rebased chrome.dll) match in any case, and it works.

  19. And again, you are absolutely right! In some special cases, it's better to use old programs on old systems what you may call "period correct". They were developed for these anchient OSs, and one can avoid problems that much more modern programs can cause. I have often experienced this on my old computer.

We'll its their prerogative to do so if they so chose as its a feature on the forum, ha, its only when you're signed in though, when lurking the blocked person (as their postings) are still in full view. 3. No I wasn't joking, and I actually don't think its bad because its their choice and the feature is there on the software. 3. YES! I don't mind being blocked because not everyone know just how bad they need mister blobfish in their lives.

  24. Well, again, this is very unfortunate, indeed. I still think he is a good person, and I wonder what if I force myself to agree with his definition, will he be back then ? Will he forgive me ? And then again, it's so hard to imagine a mobo from 2000 to be the "right XP era hardware" . I mean , XP released to sales only at the end of 2001. So no XP existed ! What do you think I should do ? thanks. P.S. Hope you will get out of your depression as soon as possible !

  25. True. This is why a lot of software is still Vista or later in 2022: Ice Cream Reader, FireAlpaca, SumatraPDF, Panda security, and a lot of lesser-known software. Under the hood, it's extremely similar to 7. I'm sure many developers don't really have a good reason to go onto newer IDE's if all they are is more bloat.

  26. Been meaning to post these @feodor updates from the Russian-language forum, because sooner or later someone's going to ask again. December 4: December 14: I presume he means that heavy parallel disk activity during builds is causing disk corruption when power is suddenly cut, so building on a RAM disk would help with that.

  27. Hi UCyborg, Thanks for chrome.dll, it lowered the memory by 3 Mb, and it also solved the problem of the two orange addresses below with their disappearance. with the new chrome.dll.

  29. I can upload my chrome.dll for others to try. It should make the difference in case you currently see chrome.dll in orange in Process Hacker when you open 360chrome.exe and go to Modules tab (should no longer be orange with the old new DLL). At least the chance is very low that it still fails to load at its new address, if it does fail, it'll be orange again (bad!).

  30. Seems chrome.dll needs to be rebased. It uses the default preferred base address used by MS build tools (which is constant) and is unable to be loaded at its preferred base address on my XP and the DLL itself is huge, so it seems logical if the OS has to duplicate huge chunk of it in every chrome.exe process to be able to fix-up addresses inside, that would be costly in terms of memory. I did rebasing when I patched old games (at least those I've spent most time working on) that used DLLs, which were small and these games don't spawn multiple processes. Back then I found the tool that chose the address based on the name of the DLL with optional INI file to specify base address and separation (how much apart they should be in the address space). I think the idea is to line up DLLs of your application at higher addresses, preventing conflicts with each other or another system softwares' / utilities' DLLs so OS doesn't have to rebase them at load time. Having them loaded in upper portion of the address space should leave large contiguous space for memory allocations. Some interesting reading here and here. There's the hint why you don't see the issue on Vista+. Anyway, here's the tool (libase.zip), it's in the Release subfolder, have both chrome.dll (from Chrome\Application\13.5.2022.0 folder) and libase.exe in the same folder, open CMD, cd to that folder and run: libase chrome.dll Copy chrome.dll back, launch the browser and check the memory consumption. No idea where the tool was originally published and who wrote it, I think it came only in source code form and I wrapped it inside Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 (another dinosaur) workspace file and compiled it. Microsoft has their own tool in their compiler suite that can also rebase executables and DLLs (reference). So it's an issue that is easily fixable, but not many people seem to pay attention to such details. Rebasing other browser's DLLs should also save a little bit of memory. Well, I do assume things at times.

  33. Lidl customer can't believe the amount for a "small purchase" - "Almost cried when I was out" 12/22/2022 By: Armin T. Linder After her purchase, a Lidl customer is downright shocked at the amount she was supposed to pay at the discount store. She almost cried. Ludwigshafen – The rising prices in supermarkets are causing problems for many people. Some simply accept them without complaint and shop as usual. Others are quietly limiting themselves and are more likely to use their own brands or remove one or the other product from the shopping list. On the other hand, those who have to turn over every cent twice have an even harder time dealing with inflation – and thus sometimes dare to go public: A poor woman recently complained about the price of three simple products at Rewe. The tweet from a woman who claims to be a single mother of two children from the Palatinate goes in a similar direction. She has already tweeted several times under the hashtag #ichbinarmutsaffected and has now also spoken out after visiting the supermarket. According to the Lidl customer, she pays 82 euros for a “small purchase” The user posted a photo of her almost complete purchase. For this she was, as the own brands show, at the discounter Lidl.... 34. Yeah that was already a very possible scenario years ago, since Windows 8 and 8.1 usage isn‘t as high as Windows 7. That‘s also the reason why they don‘t offer ESU for 8.1 devices. However, 8.1 is closer to 10 than 7, which makes some things easier to backport to 8.1 than to 7, just like it was the case with XP and Vista. Vista is obviously way more identical to 7 than XP, which made some things much easier

  36. I forgot to mention that I believe this BAT file can be used with any Chromium-based browser (As I think user data folders on them are similar). You would have to edit it so the executable and the user data folder of the browser match the ones of the browser you are using.

  37. In relation to the post made by @dmiranda on page 11 on AF's 360EE version shared (I am lazy to link the exact comment), I've made a little BAT file to execute the browser (it has to be on the same folder as the "360chrome.exe" file to work). Due to all the files this browser makes I thought it would be a good idea to write this kind of script to remove files after browser execution (it also removes 2 registry entries that the browser creates when executed, they can be seen at the end of the code). I tested it a little so I don't know if any files I set to be deleted are actually important. Some of you might already know which files are preferrable to be deleted so if you want to share which can be, then, that would be great (as well as registry entries created by the browser). I set it up so in case you run the browser with a custom profile folder you just change the "profile" variable to whatever that profile is. To avoid the CMD window poping on screen everytime you run it you can follow these steps (post #5) (the CMD window will still exist but minimized by default) Cheers. @echo off :: ======================================= :: run "360chrome.exe" file with arguments :: ======================================= 360chrome.exe --disable-component-update :: ======================================================= :: files and folders to be deleted after browser execution :: ======================================================= cd ".\User Data" :: folders rmdir "ShaderCache" /S /Q rmdir "Webstore Downloads" /S /Q rmdir "temp" /S /Q rmdir "PnaclTranslationCache" /S /Q :: files del *.log del mconfig :: Set "profile" folder set profile=Default :: Inside "profile" folder profile del "%profile%\*.tmp" del "%profile%\*.ldb" del "%profile%\*.log" del "%profile%\360Bookmarks" del "%profile%\Google Profile.ico" del "%profile%\heavy_ad_intervention_opt_out.db" del "%profile%\*-journal" del "%profile%\LOCK" del "%profile%\LOG*" del "%profile%\MANIFEST*" del "%profile%\README" del "%profile%\Secure Preferences" del "%profile%\Shortcuts" del "%profile%\Sync360_V8.sqlite3" del "%profile%\TransportSecurity" del "%profile%\Visited Links" del "%profile%\Web Data" del "%profile%\CURRENT" del "%profile%\Network Action Predictor" del "%profile%\Network Persistent State" del "%profile%\QuotaManager" del "%profile%\Top Sites" del "%profile%\previews_opt_out.db" del "%profile%\History Provider Cache" rmdir "%profile%\AutofillStrikeDatabase" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\blob_storage" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\DailyBackup" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\data_reduction_proxy_leveldb" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\databases" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Extension Rules" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Extension State" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Feature Engagement Tracker" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\File System" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\GPUCache" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\IndexedDB" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Platform Notifications" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Service Worker" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\shared_proto_db" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Site Characteristics Database" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\VideoDecodeStats" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Extensions\Temp" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Session Storage" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Download Service" /S /Q rmdir "%profile%\Thumbnails" /S /Q :: ====================================================== :: Registry entries to be deleted after browser execution :: ====================================================== reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\360" /f reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\360Chrome" /f
