  3. Hello, i've been recently messing with a Z690 motherboard and an Intel Alder Lake CPU Managed to get Windows 7 installed, but it was tricky, decided to try an updated Windows 7 ISO with drivers (USB3, NVMe... etc) slipstreamed and tried out, found out Intel USB3 got updated enough that current driver infs lacked the IDs for the new chipsets and didn't recorgnize it, so i had to install using from another PC with modern Intel AHCI, then carry the drive over the system after the first stage of setup. I ended forcing one of the AMD USB3 drivers with success on the system. Test machine specifications: Intel Core i7 12700K 32 GB DDR4 3200 MSI Z690-A PRO DDR4 (Budget Z690 with decent VRM, DDR4 and PS2 port) GTX 1060 3 GB 120 GB SSD (Kingston SSDNow V300) What i could get working: SATA/AHCI HDA Audio Most chipset stuff USB3 (After forcing AMD XHCI Driver), although there are issues What didn't work: Onboard LAN (unsupported Intel controller) IGP (that is expected though) Few unknown devices Untested: NVMe Known issues: USB stops working after resuming from suspend (at least with AMDXHCI driver) Single thread workloads may not allocatte in the right cores USB3 setup, first attempt: Setup after doing 1st stage setup and moving the SSD to the ADL system: After finishing setup: End results: WEI score:

  4. Sorry, I deleted my Windows 2000 VM, so I couldn't test it. Basically, I prefer newer versions that have new function/API implementions and/or improvements, which allows more newer apps to run.

  6. That tutorial is for Windows 7. I don't think Windows XP has that capability from the group policy editor.

  7. No, no, not so fast! Today my throat doesn't hurt anymore, no more cough but the temperature showed up: 37.7 degrees Celsius tonight, and now it's going down a bit... I didn't leave the house. Good evening to all!

  10. Can you change the cipher suites like this?https://www.howtogeek.com/221080/how-to-update-your-windows-server-cipher-suite-for-better-security/

  11. Are you using ProxHTTPSProxy? Windows XP does not support those ciphers and the user agent is IE 9.

  12. Tripredacus , thank you for the explanations . I also met some very weird persons from Poland on here , that wrote border line posts. Spammy , annoying . We still have no solution , though . Yesterday I went to another place and hooked up with their free wi-fi. Tried to login from another French IP , I got completely blocked ! Now they want me to send a video with me holding a yellow star with my ID written on it to "unlock" my account. @msfntor, thank you , but unfortunately nothing helped , also Browsec is a russian (read KGB) company , just so you know. Like I said , I only need proxy lists , no software needed . And what about you ?

  13. @Dave-H Try this Root Certificate Updater: http://i430vx.net/files/wsusstuff/NT5x/rootsupd.exe

  14. I correct: I got the page up and running with a CTL and with a lot of patience. The patch just replaced the old endpoint (https://www.update.microsoft.com/v6/clientwebservice/client.asmx) with the new one. (https://fe2.update.microsoft.com/v6/clientwebservice/client.asmx) Download link from the CTL: https://aka.ms/CTLDownload

  15. This can have many causes. Is the date correct? Are the Tls settings correct? Possibly do a root certificate update

  16. Here you go. My system is fully POSReady updated and has TLS 1.2 enabled (I think!)

  17. I also noticed that Google now looks kind of odd / fall-back design and thought it has something to do with the latest version of NM27. But I changed back to the previous version and it was still the same. So this has been changed by Google coincidentally at the ~same time! kind regards soggi

  18. Can you send a screenshot? I assume that your system is PosReady fully upgraded. Apparently, he got it to work in December by luck, with max-h's SHA2 patch. I do not know about this patch though.

  19. I have registered wuweb.dll (For Windows Update) and muweb.dll (For Microsoft Update) under c:/windows/syswow64 and added this page to Trusted Sites in Internet Options. And from Xp took the Windows Update Manager and copied it to Windows 10 on the desktop.

  20. @xpandvistafan Also, I have the update page running in Windows 10 and it works without any issues.

  21. As far as I know nothing has changed. As I said, it was always a matter of luck. Theres a Picture: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WMtU1vTEHX33xPgM6

  22. Yes, that was always an issue, even before the website went down. update.microsoft.com started requiring more secure ciphers and TLS 1.2 in January 2021. Before that, you would get the error 80244019 since the update.microsoft.com page gave a 404. Back then, nobody knew how to redirect update.microsoft.com to fe2.update.microsoft.com. Do you have a log file of when it worked in December 2021? Perhaps something has changed since then.

  23. Okay, that makes me happy. Now only the error 0x80072eff would have to be fixed. This is because Internet Explorer cannot access the page in https. Despite Tls 1.2. The problem can be seen in the Windows Update log file.

  24. Looks like CNAME Cloaking has been going on since at least November 2019. My sky isn't falling, lol. I guess I kind of view it this way, "Go ahead and track me, I got nothing to hide." OR this way, "Too late to stop it, they already know everything about me." During my college-days, I went to make an online purchase using my credit card and it was denied so I called up the credit card company to resolve the issue. They asked me a dozen or two different questions in order for me to PROVE that I was ME. One of the questions I was forced to answer was the biological name of my ADOPTED SISTER !!! A "closed" adoption !!! MY SISTER DIDN'T EVEN KNOW SHE WAS ADOPTED !!! It was a family decision she not know until her 12th brithday. But yet the credit card company knew and wouldn't "unlock" my credit card until I revealed the biological name of my ADOPTED SISTER !!! So "they know everything!"

  25. Yes, I will try it on a real XP machine from 2003 soon. Perhaps you should inform a moderator @Dave-H about your finding. Even though updates through the page does not work at the moment, it is a big step forward, since nobody knew how to see the old website again.

  26. I don't do "lists". Not my thing. I'm not really convinced that I really need to 'worry' about CNAME trackers, to be honest. I think that some of us make life more difficult than it needs to be. To each their own. Mileage may vary.

  31. TV commercial featuring (pos predatory misleading) Joe Namath. The commercial sounds like a hoax. Medicare coverage isn't tied to a "zip code", why is this TV commercial making it sound like a "lottery", that "you win if your zip code qualifies" ??? Then I found this -- https://justcareusa.org/the-medicare-advantage-scam-and-beyond/

  32. Sorry, my mistake. Yes, it did stop working around that time, I believe April 28, when Microsoft switched update.microsoft.com to an SHA-2 certificate. What SSL and TLS settings do you have?

  33. Hi @mina7601 @WinWord2000 BWC, Extended Kernel Version v3.0i released today try it

  34. No, the Microsoft Root Certificate Authority 2011 is the current sha-2 certificate. What you mean is the Microsoft Root Certificate Authority which expired on May 10th, 2021. Since then there has been a redirect to fe2.update.microsoft.com
    1 point
  35. I fixed this infinite loop as described above. The forwarding stops and the page loads. Unfortunately, for now you get the error 0x80072eff because I think something is wrong with the Microsoft Root Certificate Authority 2011. But I can't say for sure. This is currently just a guess. But there could also be something wrong with Internet Explorer. What is strange is that the page https://fe2.update.microsoft.com cannot be called up and the page https://fe2.ws.microsoft.com can. Maybe the problem could be solved with the ProxHttpsProxy software. Unfortunately I don't have access to the download.

  36. It would not be my first guess, no. Having previously worked in large networking environments and seeing the behaviours of people/corporations, these things just happen. Certainly they happen for the wrong reasons... aka we should have all learned by now that blocking IP addresses is a waste of time and should only be used as a last resort*. Yet companies still do it. The reasons why things get blocked is for various reasons. Sometimes there are automated systems involved that get overzealous. One example that I am sure you are aware is instances where emails from x domain either get blocked or filtered into spam for no apparent reason. Like the multitude of times that people with hotmail emails could not send or receive to other emails because hotmail was also being used by spammers, and poorly designed security products would block the domain. Having had worked in an ISP I had seen multiple times the automated anti-spam system blocking entire domains. Now whether an IP is being blocked or a domain is unknown to the user. It is also unknown to the user what is actually doing the blocking, especially with the overly bloated websites of today with 20+ external scripts, some of which are required for rendering a page properly. Any one of those could be blocking an IP range, a domain or any other various thing for a multitude of reasons. * There does not seem to be any public post besides some anecdotes regarding the time we blocked the entirety of Poland over 10 years ago due to relentless spam.

  38. Hello everyone and a happy new year 2022! This is my first post. Sorry, I have to translate from German to English. Since July 2021 I have been working on the update problem in Xp. As many people may know, the page has not been accessible for about 1 year. I found a workaround solution. To do this, click Internet Options in Internet Explorer, then go to the Trusted Sites option in the Security tab, then click Sites and add the pages http://www.update.microsoft.com and https://www.update.microsoft.com . Then set the security level to high and call up Windows Update. The page is already reloading. Unfortunately you get the error code 0x80072eff. The problem is that Internet Explorer is trying to download a file in the https protocol. After adding Tls 1.2 I still got the same error code. A few months have now passed. Until I got the idea that it could also be due to the certificate. I then downloaded a certificate trust list from Microsoft (https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/security/trusted-root/release-notes). After I installed this certificate trust list, with a lot of luck and patience I was able to access the page. But unfortunately the search for updates failed. But after I downloaded the sha-2 patch from @max-h, I was actually able to search for and install updates again. The strange thing is that shortly after loading the page you have to click on Quick Search or Custom Search immediately, otherwise the search will fail with 0x80072efe. What is also strange is that I cannot open the page in a second window, otherwise the error 0x80072eff pops up again. What's also strange, when this page is open, the links in the Help and Support Center work too. Unfortunately, strangely enough, I am currently unable to access this website at all. But I am sure that the problem is with the certificate. Sorry, the pictures are only in German. Maybe someone can help.

  39. If someone wants to tinker something this year: NewMoon 28.10.4a1 Don't expect everything to work (see issues). - missing magnifier icon in search - missing folder icons (PlainOldFavorites/Favorites) Solved: Try - Set KernelEX mode on palemoon.exe to Vista or higher. 1. Extract NewMoon 2. Replace three files with those of MyPal 29.3: mozglue.dll omni.ja the one next to palemoon.exe Xul.dll 3. Add MyPal 29.3 file: gkmedias.dll 4. Alter platform version with a HexEditor: PaleMoon.exe version 4.8.3 -> 4.8.2 or Xul.dll 4.8.2 -> 4.8.3 and I wish you all the best for the upcoming new year

  40. I got outlook 2002 but config should look like that. Replace mattimeikalainen (fake email I use on examples) with yours, then for advanced settings set incoming port to 993 and check force tls/ssl and incoming port to 465 (if ssl) and you should be able connect
