  1. What are you talking about? Feodor2 is from Ukraine. Roytam1 is from Hong Kong. According to Ukrainian constitution only Ukrainian laws are legal on territory of Ukraine. I'm pretty sure same is in Constitution of China. So any threats of Tobin is absolutely empty. Don't fall to this old american buzz "uuuu, ama goona sue u!!!111". Tobin, you will sue ZERO people in Ukraine and ZERO in China. Because this is different countries then yours. So you can go screw yourself. You can't even ban anyone here, in fact YOU ARE BANNED HERE, Tobin.

  2. I won't get away from Pale Moon either, because their product is a proper browser, but after seeing this war unfolding... now, I regret giving them some money at one point. And I've quit their forum, too. What a missed opportunity to advertise Pale Moon as that ressource-easy that it can even run on an 20 year old Windows XP machine. With a slogan like: "Look, this scrap computer runs Pale Moon. Then yours can run it, too." In Germany, we say something like: "If the enemy is known, the day has structure." This whole action wasn't rationally thought. There is no threat from the tiny amount of people running the XP browsers. It's just to be able to use laws. But laws aren't useful all the times! Dammit Moonchild and Tobin! Which advantages do you hope to get through shredding the Mypal project? Roytam and Feodor2, I'd like you to tell the community about this if you have to get involved in any kind of legal troubles. Maybe some money can be thrown together to a reasonable sized heap then to absorb the financial impact. Of all the projects, your browsers are the most important programs for the long-abandoned operating system to be able to use them as daily drivers.

  3. I think you won't be impressed . Even though they were quite expensive , they aren't for hard core gamers . I prefer German quality , so I always buy Fujitsu Siemens (yes, they were still made in Germany up until 2018, don't know about now). If you want the models , some of them are D3012-a1 GS3 with 16GB DDR3 , D2912-A1 GS2 16GB and I game on a haswell board Siemens Fujitsu D3221-A12 GS2 W26361-W3321-Z3-04-36 , LGA 1150 , DDR3 32GB , it supports SLI . I love their design and quality . none of the Fujitsu Siemens goods have failed me yet. (for decades). Also , got several 24 inch Fujitsu Siemens premium monitors 16:10.

  4. so "the larger work" is mozilla, not palemoon. BTW M.A.T. is trying to involve me in that issue, but I'm not going to get in that.

  5. Due to the doubts and the incipient erroneous articles published on the Internet saying that Windows XP does not have updated browsers, I open this post indicating the complete information on all the companies or software programmers that make versions of browsers compatible with Windows XP. But first it is necessary to clarify some fundamental concepts. The first is that today there are only 2 Internet browser projects for Windows. The Chromium project and the Mozilla foundation. No, the basic existing browsers are not Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Opera abandoned its own "Presto" browser engine in 2012, Microsoft stopped developing its own browser known as Internet Explorer in 2015 & and later stopped developing its own motor in Edge in 2019. Now both the Opera browser and Microsoft's browser are based on the Chromium project. An open source database for developing a web browser, maintained by various companies that later use the source code to create their own version of the browser with additional features. Google develops Chrome and Microsoft develops Edge, same as multiple companies using the same codebase as above, for example Opera. None of these companies develops versions compatible with Windows XP but many others do, for many they are unknown companies but in China they generally work with Windows XP due to the delicacy of the manufacturing processes and the independent control provided by this operating system. By not needing direct connections with Microsoft and therefore with the US Government. There are many Chinese browsers based on both Chromium and Mozilla, the Chromium versions come with telemetry for the Chinese Government to know which websites you visit (Google also does it for the USA and stronger) but there are modified versions that have this capacity removed . There are also browsers from other places but they are less developed such as Otter Browser or RetroZilla. Based on Mozilla we can also find updated browsers even for Windows 2000, although for this system they have not passed the beta phase as forks of K-Meleon and PaleMoon developed by Roytam1. Sin embargo for Windows XP you can find several browsers modified to work on this operating system, whose versions are continuously updated. These come in English and many can be patched in another language. For Windows XP I recommend using the English Chromium-based versions, especially 360 Extreme Explorer modified version without telemetry, due to their speed compared to Mozilla-based browsers. User interface can be found in English and in Chinese. Multilanguage only come with Kafan MiniBrowser (except installer), Maxthon and UC Browser. If we want to view the web pages in other specific languages, we must also modify the language in which we want to view them by default. To work with Chromium it is essential that we understand the Windows certificate system, since the https web pages display depends on our Windows certificates being up to date. While for Mozilla-based browsers it is not necessary, since they are integrated into the browser itself and it is not necessary to update them independently. To update the Windows XP certificates, download a package updated by the Japanese @blackwingcat on its Windows Legacy Update website: http://win2k.org/wlu/wluen.htm We go to the manual update section and look for certificates. Unzip the file with 7-Zip or WinRar and then install it. Note: The files on this website come in a format that I have not been able to use in Spanish XP, even discussing it with the author. They may work in other languages but if not don't worry, unzip with 7-zip and install. Below I indicate which are the best developments for Windows XP and its base code version in April 2022. 7. palemoon goal was also remove many of antifeatures firefox had and that os why it runs better on many hardware. It wont focus bloat, rather to do what web browser is designed to, view HTML documents. Only thing I would consider "bloat" is sync feature but atleast it wont push it to my face all the time. Mozilla turned bloat at one point and palemoon kept is optimised code instead of adding useless featues. Many say Palemoon render engine is bad because it is slow and cannot play DRM videos . It is slower and wont work on some new site not because it is bad and old rather since Chromium optimised technologies. It was like back in day peoples said Netscape and Opera did not support latest web standard that ie did while IE standards were broken to begin with. Also Palemoon devs did not bother with EME since it is antifeature And I think gansangriff meant their decision artificially block XP and being hostile torward anyone even thinking it. Well Tobin was hostile torwards openbsd devs too. Feels like they do not want anyone use their browser. They should update their slogan to "Your browser your way (UNLESS you want use legacy firefox extensions, since I want artificially block them, want run it on anything expect teh latest and greatest windows since we artificially block older versions I mean they cannot run and roytam1 never did make it work on xp or anything or want make your custom build which case we will hunt you down like did to openbsd version and Mypal.)

  12. @win32 , 373.19 is a very special case , indeed : 100% official Vista support . It still has the Vista block and it doesn't call for memcpy_s in ntoskrnl ! By the way, it is actually newer than 375 , I think . Why I think so ? Some file versions are similar and it has the telemetry . And as far as I remember, the 375 (official nvidia driver) was the first to incude it ! Pascal , no , I do not have any Pascal , also I sold my Maxwell recently . But Dereck Draker (also a Fujitsu Siemens owner) says it works with GTX980 and it is very fast. As for me , I tested it with the Fujitsu Siemens laptop (obviously), the card is the first version of GT820M , also I can confirm it works on GTX Titan (the first titan) , GTX780 , GTX780ti [the first version]. My neighbour says it works with DX9/DX10 games with his 1070 , but I can't confirm . I mean , there is no reason for him to lie to me, but I just can't go inside his house and test myself. Yet again , I can give it to you , no prob. . But only to you , since you also own a Fujitsu Siemens. EDIT : Forgot to say , there were a bit older drivers (several actually) like 372.93 , 373.06 supplied to us , and they all work with Vista . And you know 372.70 was the last one.

  14. Well palemoon developers hates tor and other anonymisers. Peoples who block tor does not realise some peoples have genuine need to use it. Maybe I could start recommending against palemoon since they hide source code from public and may have something to hide on code and recommend use it forks instead. That is not lie, if they do not let everyone access source code and could maybe make developers come back to senses when get bad image

  16. I have not donated any project for long time since all I did went undesirable path. They discourage peoples from donating to actually good projects since fear from wrong path. It is because supporting legacy os kills "professional look" for some reason. It is some twisted image on many peoples head that professional only run latest and (not) greatest operating systems and softwares and other only stupid diehard peoples run anything older. And many peoples try to be like that. I remember one place how they spoke how some stupid peoples without knowledge want still run XP when support ended and how companies think their benefit when dropping sw support and how professional uses Windows 8.1. Well I am professional and work with servers and run XP and 98lite on my personal machines for most part and can say running XP requires much more knowledge than buying laptop with win10 preinstalled, downloading chrome to watch cat videos on facebook. I got knowledge and experience run OS I want as daily driver. And running old hw and os does not mean all software must be old. I am also running linux dualboot on many of my machines where new Windows wont even boot and works great. And if professionals do not use old OS why many CNC machines I seen on production runs Windows 98, 95, 2000 etc? Because software been many times designed for those and system and upgrade would break them. Those are used do very precise PROFESSIONAL work. I have seen lab equipment running Windows 3.1 on 486 since it used ISA card and seen water quality analyser lab computer running Windows 95 and those two are not professional systems? I got nothing against running latest os just want peoples realise "Professional" image is made by companies to increase sales

  20. In most cases, yes, but there may be issues with temp-folder based installers that are spawned from another installer. By the end of September. I have close to enough new features to justify a new release, but I think I can stuff some more in. And I also need to test. I have every K32 function implemented for both architectures, SetDefaultDllDirectories fixed on both archs, ResolveLocaleName (basic implementation) and soon some other things. I hope to get many basic x86 applications running. The kernel32 wrapper itself is probably more compatible than it was at another point in the extended kernel's existence, as it doesn't rely on the original kernel32 having SetDefaultDllDirectories (which was added to Vista in 2013). But that will soon not be the case, as it will call functions from my NTDLL wrapper, and that will need a modified ntoskrnl to work.

  21. One of my computers blew up. Which one you may ask? Of course the strongest one. The XP power machine from 2007, using a Pentium D dual core. It was one leaked capacitor, then two, then three (all being placed around the fat CPU cooler)... the system became more unstable. The computer could be used longer through removing components from it, like the graphics card (and using the onboard graphics), removing the second hard drive, removing all except one RAM... But finally, it stopped turning on. Dead. Thankfully, a local store soldered some new capacitors for 30 euros to the board. For that amount of money, I could have bought a more powerful desktop computer here. Anyways! It's a powerful computer that's worth using. Hasn't the Intel Management Engine spyware inbuild like in newer hardware. Has a proper BIOS. And can basically do everything on the web.

  23. A very wise decision, why give them an extra opportunity to disparage you. I think I should rephrase what I was trying to say before. I think people might want to read the Github thread to be aware of what's happening - but only those who a) have something useful to add that hasn't already been brought up and, b) can restrain themselves enough to remain polite should go over there to add their thoughts. They can of course also do it here, but the Github issue is more of a place of record. I myself might have met a) in the early stages but b) was pretty doubtful. At this point, a) is also doubtful. @XP2003 Yes, I've seen it. Gotta "love" that one guy actually demanding jail time for @feodor2... I'm reminded of a quote from an R. K. Narayan book about Indian mythology, where he describes asuras (demons) as "strong-minded, intelligent, and capable of offering arguments to establish that they are righteous, and all others are evil-minded". He then adds "They succeed - but, [...], only for a while; sooner or later they are overcome." Let's hope for that. (It's not my style to compare people to demons, but the comparison comes to mind when someone is so incredibly insistent to enforce the letter of the law at the expense of the spirit of it, for very questionable reasons and with clearly damaging cansequences.)

  24. Nor should you...you haven't done anything wrong in this or any other case, and your health and well-being should always come first. Thank you for all of your great work over the years! Rest assured--it is never in vain, and never taken for granted!

  26. Just adding that I too have modified security.tls.version.max to 4 and have positive results using Firefox ESR 52.9.0

  27. And yet, changing security.tls.version.max to 4, closing and reopening FF 52 esr does work... I don't understand why it didn't work for you (notice that I'm spoofing the NT version as 6.1, however, if that makes any difference).
