  4. Hi, Microsoft Update Restored is currently known for looping on the muoptdefault.aspx page. We're looking into this issue. Please note that those message boxes you are encountering are debug information popups we use to troubleshoot what's wrong.
  5. For dreamscene try installing K-Lite Codec Pack 16.6.5 (I believe someone reported some issues with a later version) Edit, this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/175262-last-versions-of-software-for-windows-vista-and-windows-server-2008/page/66/#comment-1214028 Is explorer.exe still crashing, if not I think it's Camtasia's own problems at this point
  6. No
  7. Is any of the extended kernel-like stuff installed?
  8. Camtasia Studio works fine now but only after closing it does it crash
  9. Yes, still same error i tried peggle garrys mod & jewel quest on xp vista & 7 and they all work perfectly fine
  10. Is directx_Jun2010_redist installed? Windows 7 doesn't use dx9 on desktop (maybe Camtasia uses dx11 on Win7 too), check if directX9 works there with any directX 9 game, look up games you happen to have on pcgamingwiki
  11. just trying to make sure if it is worth our whike doing all the above, what compression rate are u referring to? the compression rates that we are practically accustomed to are reasonably satisfactory - a very good compression rate can be achieved thru winntsetup itself by clicking on the start square icon on the top right corner of the mask and then on "local windows installations", then right-clicking and selecting compact windows, choosing "lzx" and ticking the recompression box below. yet other good compression rates can be achieved thru windows10tweaker.exe from the optimization section (the only inconvenience being with this one here that u cannot do anything while it is compacting as everything freezes till the end of the process). pls try both and compare with ur rar kinda thing for best compression results.
  12. Hi @ABCDEFG, Just checking to see that I've got you right. You're saying, we could used an extra core, for the software GPU. You are also clarifying, that this is different from truly taking advantage of a multiprocessor/multicore system; which we cannot do. This I 100% agree with. Thanks for pointing that out, so we don't get lots of hopeful multicore win9x questions. I dream of taking a couple year holiday, and doing something fun with these, and other, ideas. I've been wondering if I could host a VST server (something similar to MuLab Plugin [used to be called Mux], or VSTHost) on the available cores (one host each). Each host being available to any Midi capable (potentially audio route-able) DAW. It would have to be a "from scratch" project. Hard to get motivated for something like that, with only "occasional" weekends available. Going into it, there are ALOT of problems with such a goal. Might get reduced to one core being a SoundFont/GigaSample server (headless); something like LinuxSampler. But, in the end, I'd be one of the few, or the only person, to ever use it. PipeDreams. But, SoftGPU sparks a little fame under my chair. @FantasyAcquiesce, I did compile some MMX/SSE1,2 software rendering Mesa binaries (I think you are encouraged to use the included non sse3+/Avx binary, for older machines [i915]). The included binary, without AVX, doesn't include SSE. On an Pentium M 1.2ghz, Unreal Gold "with Wine3D" was almost acceptable @ 640x480 & 800x600 both 32bit. The binaries I built only seemed marginally better; however, they scored noticeably better with the included OpenGL benchmarks (the Unreal game engine probably taps out any boost the SSE (and assembly optimized) builds ?may? potentially provide). So yeah! On a faster CPU, there may be a bit of hope for some older machines (the included Mesa [softpipe] probably being sufficient). I'm not sure they were worth my time. But if any one wants to test these older Mesa builds, I could upload them somewhere. I've also noticed slightly faster load times, with older versions of Wine3d. But, nothing huge.

  14. where can i download the source code?
  15. It's interesting that you mention you use an LTSC version of Windows, as I use an Enterprise version of Windows to give me finer control of my own computer (not Microsoft's). From what I understand, while the LTSC and Enterprise versions aren't identical, they do have similarities. I might try a Home edition of Windows in a virtual machine, as long as I have time this weekend.

  17. @JFX My apologies for even asking, but I would really like to know if you might be interested: Is it possible to allow installing Windows from a RAR file (WinRAR Archive)? Basically the RAR file format's story is that it's a full backup format that supports saving all NTFS attributes, timestamps and ACLs, etc. Using WinRAR's unrar program allows for very fast extraction of big archives (multi-GBs) while restoring all NTFS attributes & properties. So I could for example use ImageX to unpack a sample install.wim file from a Windows ISO to a scratch directory, then archive it as RAR5 with the best compression settings, BLAKE2 checksums, preserving timestamps and NTFS security permissions (ACLs). This would help to create a sample install.rar file that cans also easily be split into arbitrarily-sized parts (e.g. 700MB parts, 2GB parts, etc). So finally for installing Windows, what you would do is to properly select the desired install partitions and extract the RAR5 file to the Windows partition you want. Of course I understand that you have to run WinRAR (for archiving) and WinNTSetup (for install) as TrustedInstaller to do this, but we have many tools made specifically for running programs as TrustedInstaller (example: 'RunAsTI'). So, is this something that you might consider doing in the future? Or perhaps you might think that it's not necessary to work on such an idea right now, because .wim files are good enough? I would also like to add that RAR4 & RAR5 archives can also possess recovery records, which help automatically correct errors if part of the data is damaged (with configurable percentage of recovery record size). Of course I understand that if you do it, then it would only support RAR archives without a password. And I also understand that the usage of such install.rar files would be mostly useful for creating 'super-small' ISO files.
  18. My Windows Vista & XP installs have a odd issue with DirectX On Vista, Programs WinSAT & Dreamscene keep crashing due to dll d3d9.dll On Windows XP the only issue I've had is with camtasia studio but i can turn off DirectX accelerations and it works fine I've tried swapping out the ATI card that came with my computer for the NVIDIA one but still same error On Windows 7 & up this doesn't happen
  19. This is already the right place. You need to contribute to this site before posting a link to your own.
  20. Firefox 24: The value of "security.tls.version.max" must be 3, otherwise you can't open a search address. It confirms my guess. (3=TLS1.2)
  21. The latest version of 4K Video Downloader Plus (25.3) no longer works on Windows 7. https://www.4kdownload.com/downloads/34# Version 25.2 still worked (although officially 4K Video Downloader+ was declared not to work on Windows 7 from the beginning).
  22. RyanVM Integrator and similar tools (like HFSLIP) are community-made and safe to use if you’re integrating official hotfixes you’ve downloaded yourself. Microsoft ended support for SP2 in 2010, but SP3 updates drift boss (and some Server 2003 updates) can still be integrated if you want a more secure and functional retro XP machine.
  23. It is possible to manually strip out a corrupted nLite add-on by editing SVCPACK.INF, txtsetup.sif, dosnet.inf, and deleting its files, but it’s fiddly and prone to leaving ghosts. Most people just revert to a clean source and rebuild.
  24. Hello, This might also be a Java runtime problem. Try to use Azul Zulu's Java runtimes instead of the official Oracle ones: https://www.azul.com/downloads/#zulu Azul Zulu's Java runtimes support Windows 7 & JavaFX too. Otherwise try using Adoptium's Java runtimes: https://adoptopenjdk.net/releases.html https://adoptium.net/temurin/releases?version=21&mode=filter&os=windows&arch=any For Minecraft itself, try using mods: https://github.com/WindClan/oldgl/issues/1 https://github.com/KabanFriends/ForceGL20 https://modrinth.com/mod/forcegl2.0-remapped https://github.com/coredex-source/ForceGL2.0-1.2x https://github.com/coredex-source/ForceGL3.0 https://modrinth.com/mod/forcegl4.0 https://github.com/coredex-source/ForceGL_ARS You will surely need: Azul Zulu Java runtime Unofficial Minecraft launcher (not the official one!) FabricMC ForceGL4.0 mod I hope that this will help!
  25. I use patch for CPU LoneCrusader and RAM by Rudolph. I want to test the Win95 in a PC with 1 GB RAM with patch on a CPU but no patch for RAM. I will try it for RAM: https://web.archive.org/web/20060220020236/http://www.starburst2005.com/windows98.html I uninstalled patchmem.exe but now after the restart I have a error that there is no file or is damaged VMM32.VXD I check on the disk and he is in WINDOWS\SYSTEM Why is he damaged? I use a USB update. Does the USB update modify this file? I don't know where to get this file now.
  26. @blackwingcat kernelxp.dll for windows 2000 i found in mp10en2k.exe package is missing the GetNumaHighestNodeNumber function for msvcr120.dll especially for apps such as (Firefox 36+, CCleaner 5.30+, Notepad++ 7.9.2) I tested Firefox versions up to 35.0.1 on Windows 2000 without extended kernel (just using kernelxp, advapixp, shellxp, userxp, rpcxp4 wrappers) unofficially. What about adding the GetNumaHighestNodeNumber function to your kernelxp wrapper?

  28. I've encountered this as well. I'm using Classic Shell which has probably a quarter of a second delay, but I briefly tried StartIsBack and the delay was multiple seconds. It seems to be caused by SearchApp.exe trying to load News and Interests (ShellFeedsUI), but disabling SearchApp entirely makes it worse. I've seen other people with the same issue caused by updates last year, but no word as to if it was ever resolved. With a clean consumer edition ISO, you'll probably have no issues, but I'm using LTSC which never had News and Interests to begin with as far as I know.
