one more thing: would anybody tell me what is the real difference between one vhd that does load in ram (as a ramdisk) and another that does not? even though they have been built, defragmented and configured in the same way, what does the former have that the latter does not? is there an a-priori way of detecting that one does and the other one doesn't, so that the one that does not load in ram can be made to load in ram by adding or doing something necessary for the purpose?

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
Sorry. Ricks-YumeYao_WMP11_Addon_ENU_V3_4_7.7z is the newest that I have. I last used it on Jan 19, 2014. All of my installation slipstreams from Apr 10, 1014 (it's extremely odd that I do not have Feb and Mar) onward uses OnePiece_Windows_Media_Player_11_True_AddOn_v1.0.0_FINAL_ENU.7z over YumeYao's WMP11. I cannot remember now, ten years later, why I intentionally discarded YumeYao's WMP11 in favor of OnePiece's WMP11.- 41 replies

NSS 3.15 to 3.21 is a fast forward from NSS official codebase, and 3.21.x is from TenFourFox changes. and NSS 3.42 Beta is mostly your work of porting NewMoon27.9.6! I just fixup all the irregularities from your changes. PSM changes is very minor when comparing with NSS changes.

I've always preferred OnePiece's OnePiece_Windows_Media_Player_11_True_AddOn_v1.0.0_FINAL_ENU.7z over YumeYao's WMP11. The OnePiece that I have is dated Sep 13, 2014.- 41 replies

Nice job getting Classilla 9.3.4 and Phoenix 0.5 working with TLS 1.3 and Windows 95. How difficult would it be to port NSS 3.21.4 and/or NSS 3.42 beta to the Mozilla/Gecko 1.8.0 codebase?

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
The download links for the YumeYao addon at Wincert and the archived ryanvm.net forum are dead, but after after much Googling I found this live link for YumeYao_WMP11_Addon_ENU_V3_4_5.7z This addon was last updated in 2011, although there was a version 3.5.1 which I cannot find. I suppose I ought to start a new thread inviting XP diehards to upload their ryanvm.net addons which could act as an archive to ensure that they are not lost from the internet. It may be useful to update this addon because according to the Wincert thread it does offer features not found in the onepiece addon. Rather than allow automatic updates offer the updates it might be possible to search for them on Microsoft Update catalog.- 41 replies

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Nah... "They" were "bad" to begin with ... Updating their code frameworks to target Google Chrome 125+ (which "they" expect every single one of their users to be on at the moment ) is what distances all these services further away from what UXP can (reasonably) digest ... As part of my research into hardware acceleration in the Thorium Browser, I have now taken another look at New Moon 28 and Serpent 52. I realised that hardware acceleration was not running to its full extent. I have now fixed this. And what shall I say, at the moment Amazon and eBay are working perfectly again in these browsers, especially in New Moon 28. And all that on my acient machine. 100% CPU utilisation is no longer an issue, quite the opposite. I am delighted. -
I believe the correct term is "programmers" for the former group. I do wonder if it has to do with prolonged staring at the screen, maybe also using dark mode as substitute for simply adjusting brightness. There are programmers where I work, yeah, a bunch of vampires. xD

So no future in the world of ChromeZilla?

At least two problems on WinRAR: Menu bar's text is black instead of white when the window is first opened (hovering on them restores the proper color) Status bar's text is white instead of black (or the background is the normal white instead of being darkened; Unreadable text)

I use Win 11 and newest Startallback. I have the taskbar at the top and very often when I click on the calendar it appears on the left side and not on the right side. Then I have to move the taskbar down and up again so that the calendar opens on the right side again. Someone know to fix this ?

I forgot to mention, when I said it still takes 10 seconds for browser to startup for the first time, that was actually on the faster side. It takes over 15 seconds with win32's DLL.
-
Possible, who knows where they put it. It's been many since years since the one in my desktop was depleted, I forgot which year it was, but I'm not sure that it lasted 10 years. Just a passing thought: "Hey, the clock is still going in 2024!".

Thorium

@ to all Can you do this without extensions? If you can't,I'll write you a rule for uBlock Origin that might be quite aggressive (depends on many factors) but the test is passed.

Try these filter lists: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DandelionSprout/adfilt/master/LegitimateURLShortener.txt https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DandelionSprout/adfilt/master/ClearURLs for uBo/clear_urls_uboified.txt

Thanks, I actually do have Fanboy's Enhanced Tracking List, it works fine in other browsers, but not in Thorium, weird. Is it obsolete for v.122 and up , maybe?
-
If you use uBlock Origin I can recommend adding 2 filter lists in addition to AdGuard URL Tracking Protection (which should be enabled by everyone). Although the main advice for MSFN members who are more privacy-oriented remains to try r3dfox.

Getting all kinds of weird tracking params all day while searching for different stuff. &PC=U316&FORM=CHROMN Is it only Thorium/Supermium? Or probably it's also included in the new (usual) chrome, and I missed these.
