  2. My Windows Vista & XP installs have a odd issue with DirectX On Vista, Programs WinSAT & Dreamscene keep crashing due to dll d3d9.dll On Windows XP the only issue I've had is with camtasia studio but i can turn off DirectX accelerations and it works fine I've tried swapping out the ATI card that came with my computer for the NVIDIA one but still same error On Windows 7 & up this doesn't happen
  3. This is already the right place. You need to contribute to this site before posting a link to your own.
  4. Firefox 24: The value of "security.tls.version.max" must be 3, otherwise you can't open a search address. It confirms my guess. (3=TLS1.2)
  5. The latest version of 4K Video Downloader Plus (25.3) no longer works on Windows 7. https://www.4kdownload.com/downloads/34# Version 25.2 still worked (although officially 4K Video Downloader+ was declared not to work on Windows 7 from the beginning).
  6. RyanVM Integrator and similar tools (like HFSLIP) are community-made and safe to use if you’re integrating official hotfixes you’ve downloaded yourself. Microsoft ended support for SP2 in 2010, but SP3 updates drift boss (and some Server 2003 updates) can still be integrated if you want a more secure and functional retro XP machine.
  7. It is possible to manually strip out a corrupted nLite add-on by editing SVCPACK.INF, txtsetup.sif, dosnet.inf, and deleting its files, but it’s fiddly and prone to leaving ghosts. Most people just revert to a clean source and rebuild.
  8. Hello, This might also be a Java runtime problem. Try to use Azul Zulu's Java runtimes instead of the official Oracle ones: https://www.azul.com/downloads/#zulu Azul Zulu's Java runtimes support Windows 7 & JavaFX too. Otherwise try using Adoptium's Java runtimes: https://adoptopenjdk.net/releases.html https://adoptium.net/temurin/releases?version=21&mode=filter&os=windows&arch=any For Minecraft itself, try using mods: https://github.com/WindClan/oldgl/issues/1 https://github.com/KabanFriends/ForceGL20 https://modrinth.com/mod/forcegl2.0-remapped https://github.com/coredex-source/ForceGL2.0-1.2x https://github.com/coredex-source/ForceGL3.0 https://modrinth.com/mod/forcegl4.0 https://github.com/coredex-source/ForceGL_ARS You will surely need: Azul Zulu Java runtime Unofficial Minecraft launcher (not the official one!) FabricMC ForceGL4.0 mod I hope that this will help!
  9. I use patch for CPU LoneCrusader and RAM by Rudolph. I want to test the Win95 in a PC with 1 GB RAM with patch on a CPU but no patch for RAM. I will try it for RAM: https://web.archive.org/web/20060220020236/http://www.starburst2005.com/windows98.html I uninstalled patchmem.exe but now after the restart I have a error that there is no file or is damaged VMM32.VXD I check on the disk and he is in WINDOWS\SYSTEM Why is he damaged? I use a USB update. Does the USB update modify this file? I don't know where to get this file now.
  10. @blackwingcat kernelxp.dll for windows 2000 i found in mp10en2k.exe package is missing the GetNumaHighestNodeNumber function for msvcr120.dll especially for apps such as (Firefox 36+, CCleaner 5.30+, Notepad++ 7.9.2) I tested Firefox versions up to 35.0.1 on Windows 2000 without extended kernel (just using kernelxp, advapixp, shellxp, userxp, rpcxp4 wrappers) unofficially. What about adding the GetNumaHighestNodeNumber function to your kernelxp wrapper?

  12. I've encountered this as well. I'm using Classic Shell which has probably a quarter of a second delay, but I briefly tried StartIsBack and the delay was multiple seconds. It seems to be caused by SearchApp.exe trying to load News and Interests (ShellFeedsUI), but disabling SearchApp entirely makes it worse. I've seen other people with the same issue caused by updates last year, but no word as to if it was ever resolved. With a clean consumer edition ISO, you'll probably have no issues, but I'm using LTSC which never had News and Interests to begin with as far as I know.

  14. A Test with Firefox 2.0.0.20: Google opens, if I set general.useragent.extra.firefox to value RetroZillaBrowser/2.2 instead of Firefox/2.0.0.20. As far as I can see it doesn't really help much. Now the nss updates, I suspect in particular TLS1.2, are required to open the search addresses. Google still works on Retrozilla.
  15. My guess is that Google is "experimenting" and it hasn't actually "landed" yet. I don't think that they are even aware (yet) that their "experiment" is even making H#LL out of using Google on even something as modern as Chrome v136. Did not go beyond that, I only know that my v136 is hit with a CAPTCHA each and every d#mn browsing session !!! I can't believe that this is what they "intended" to do to those of us that run "ungoogled" or session-only or cacheless browsers even on something as 'new' as v136. I have witnessed these every-d#mn-session CAPTCHAs in the past on Google and it takes them a WEEK or so to realize it and reverse the experiment, "oops, that wasn't what I was expecting".
  16. from my limited testing, lowest firefox that still able to access google search is 24.
  17. Thank you for looking into this. Is there anything I can do to reduce the delay? It's unfortunate that the issue can't be reproduced by yourself. I did create my ISO using MSMG's ToolKit sometime ago, so I will try a stock ISO later today.
  18. How do I use MinWin? I'm not seeing that option.
  19. Google stopped working on all 9x web browsers without KernelEx starting September 10th. Tried Netscape 9 and Opera 10.63. Still works on browsers requiring KernelEx, such as Firefox 35.0.1 or Opera 12.02.
  20. Last week
  21. Well, it would certainly be interesting to see his code, but it is not necessary since the mechanisms for starting the processor/core are known. here are some simple examples: https://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=13498 https://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=21093 And the absolute best example: https://github.com/WindowsNT/asm And it is possible to use something like that for GPU emulation and that would be it, that would be the end of the story. But to be able to use something like that in the ring 3 space of a 9x system - to enable multithreaded applications to truly take advantage of multiprocessor/multicore systems, this would require modification of a large part of the kernel.
  22. You can disable updates via GPO https://startisback.com/GroupPolicy.zip
  23. I get a lot of computers brought to me. I install Startallback. I show the user how great the program is. I tell them they can buy it cheap if they want. Startallback installs automatically during Windows setup. Sometimes the user wants older versions, like 23h2. I don't want constant updates. Some users might also be standard users.
  24. What would usecase be?
  25. I have a request. Could you add /noupdate to the installation parameters? It would be very helpful.
  26. No reproduction.
  27. A small display bug occurs when clicking in the address bar with 3.9.15 I hadn't noticed before. 3.9.12 : 3.9.15 : Slight gap between the "bands" on the left (no problem with the search bar) Thanks PS: The blue outline is normal when clicking in the address or search bar Do you have the same thing ?
  28. Only to clarify, making a partition active doesn't touch at all the partition itself, what "make active" means actually "mark the partition as active in the corresponding MBR partition table entry (by writing 0x80 in the appropriate field)", it is essentially flipping a flag to allow the MBR code to know which partition boot record is to be chainloaded . On a GPT partitioned disk there is not really a MBR, its place is taken by a "protective MBR" that has only a table with a single entry with a special partition type (0xEE) that spans the whole disk and is there to tell older programs that they shouldn't touch the MBR partition table.
