It is now SIX major versions above the last for these OSes, yet they're still in the main OS section of the forum. Remember how fast Vista was dumped into the "older OS" bin. Will the so-called "extended kernel for win 7" allow to run anything beyond ver.109 to run ? I highly doubt that ! Anyone, confirm, thanks. Latest Chromium Build working fine on 8.1: imgur.com/a/lE6buzI As much as I respect @D.Draker for all of your work and effort, I never really got your intention, of why you want to see Windows 7 and 8.1 getting removed from the Main OS Section from MSFN. No one really complains about this. Why even "downgrade" them to that section. They cannot be compared to Vista, especially Windows 7, since they are more popular and many programs still support them. I got that you dont like Windows 7 and 8, but it is really not up to you to decide which OS is "worth" staying in a section or not. mina7601 Posted April 30, 2023 Share Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) From my testing, VxKex prevented the "The procedure entry point SetProcessMitigationPolicy could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." error from appearing when opening Chromium 115 on Windows 7, but Chromium 115 still doesn't start. It's NOT intention, it's fairness and objectiveness. They ditched Vista years ago, how could you compare that state of Vista to the current times ? Where did I say "I want to" ? Better not even start about the "popularity". Most popular here seems to be XP and 98, a bit of Vista. Just look at the trending topics. What was the last popular Windows 7 thread here ? Right, none. This one (mostly off-topic) can't be defined as popular, here poor users just cry about the dead win7, without showing any actual saving (technical) suggestions. I too get that you like Windows 8/1 that seem to run the new UN-sandboxed Chrome with the help of hacks.
