This is the version I have been using  --  https://www.dropbox.com/s/0hh440tcbpmzb9y/360ChromePortable_13.0.2170_rebuild_1_ungoogled.zip?dl=0

I have found build 2170 to be more stable than build 2206.

ooo ... is this an "update"? I'm happy to use it if you trust it. I see your builds of both versions here as:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ld5dz2uwdowf1cz/360ChromePortable_13.0.2206_rebuild_9_ungoogled.zip?dl=1   (last updated: Jan 11, 2022)

13.0.2206 is what you posted in the first page, so you trust 13.0.2107? Downgrade seems better?

I (as you well know) have stuck by V11, but will try this out to see and report feedback.

Glad to see you again.

It is great to see some activity in this thread once more!
Just as a reminder for everyone, the "?dl=1" trick still works with Dropbox links and will allow you to automatically download a file without actually having to use the Dropbox online interface.
Here is the link NHTPG posted, with the "?dl=1" trick applied (to NHTPG: thank you VERY much for sharing another 360 build with us!)

Yes, I trust build 2107 more.  It's been more stable for my use.  Mileage may vary.

It's NOT a "downgrade".  The build numbers seem to confuse far to many people.  Halfway through v13, the original creator went to Chromium v86.4240.198.  Some of the earlier v13's stem from Chromium v86.4240.112.

Even v13.5 and v13.6 use the same exact v86.4240.198 - YOU GAIN NOTHING.  I *distrust* v13.5 and v13.6 - I WILL NOT BE UPGRADING THEM (so don't even ask, wink wink).

I'm trying ArcticFoxie 360 Chrome version 13.5 from the link on the first page.

XP with sp3.The problem is poor sound quality when playing videos on youtube or elsewhere.Sound seems slow or lagging and breaking up at times.

Same problem with version 12 and 13.How can I fix this to improve the sound quality.Never had this issue with other browsers.

Also can't pin 360 Chrome to the start menu.Is this browser not worth using?

The sound is fine for me with 13.5.
The browser is a bit of a resource hog though, maybe that's the problem?
:dubbio:
Try with version 11 and see if it's the same, apparently that's much lighter on resources.
It's certainly a very capable browser, I've found very few sites which malfunction using it.

Exactly the same here ...

I avoid V12 (but use DC Browser only occasionally, good on low resources) Its either V11 or 13, but in order to get videos to run without becoming choppy, I need to use:

https://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/Portable-Wise-Care-365.shtml

Once you download the zip ... extract ( just copy and paste from the zip to the desktop ) only the wise tray application to clear up ram and video will play, but prefer V11 and hardly ever skip or lag; for me, anyway.

wise_mem.thumb.JPG.6ef1348d2be157029067fe8657471c20.JPG

Good luck :)

PS: This will (of course) create registry entries as the application is NOT portable. It will also create appdata folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\DELL\Application Data\Wise Care 365 with the files config and config_tray the latter you can set to how much ram you want to free. Edit with notepad and you see:

MemValue=75

This is the default but you can increase but too much and I think it hinders more than it helps. Just my humble opinion.

That being said

<OT>

I find:

"BootTime" - "WiseBootBooster" - "BootLaucher" to be 'snake oil' and I never use those or the auto update.

The ONLY files I use is:

"WiseCare360" with sqlite3.dll and WJSLib.dll ... nothing else at all. Ignore all the other files and the program works fine.

Most of the so called RAM managers free up an amount of RAM but in most cases by copying these data into the page file. And, if the data have to be used again, it will slow down the system. Wise Case 365 Free is a bit heavy, too much functions. The tool Firenin is much more lighter and specialised in browsers. I can recommend it. I use it in my system, low on resources, successfully.

Agree, running Wise 360 and the Wise Tray is too much, but only Wise Tray (alone) is pretty good.

Looking around:

Is this what you recommend - V8?

https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/firemin_portable.html

This is new to me and I appreciate any 'teaching moment' as good way to spend time rather than worry about things I've no control over.

Hi @XPerceniol! Yep! That's what I meant. You need to use it only on systems with low hardware resources.

Does Firemin work with XP and 360 Chrome?

Which Firemin version would be best? Will it fix the poor sound quality issue?

Hi @ADMM! I use Firemin 6 with different browsers. It is an useful tool if you are low on RAM resources and works with nearly all browsers, AFAIK. The purpose of this tool is to reduce the RAM usage of the browser controlled by Firemin. The most recent version Firemin 8 seems not to be compatible anymore, either.  If you can't find a download link of Firemin 6, I can upload this version for you. It's open source. Maybe, it can help with poor sound quality if it is caused by the lack of free RAM. You have to test it, of course.

Cheers, AstroSkipper :hello:

Hi there ... I assume you're speaking regarding 360 V13?!

V11 and DC Browser won't skip and I'm only rolling with 2GB of ram and hardly any fonts nowadays and tweaked to the hills Lol ... :)

Please try this Firemin or Wise Tray (memory cleaner - again, only extract that application from the zip file) and see if they help a little, but no miracles either way on V13 as even @Dave-H and @AstroSkipper mentioned (as well as others) its a recourse hog and when I need to use it, just reduce the priority of other background applications and/or processes to the lowest priority. Windows Explorer is pretty high as its normal priority unless I change it.

spacer.png

right click on your process and you can change and lower them and it will help a little with V13

Good luck :)

PS: The only reason I'm running the spoolsv.exe is because I need to print with my HP Printer today; otherwise, I kill that off and (of course) that taskmgr.
