  1. Solved by Windows Update
  2. I have just purchased a Toshiba Satellite A100, and it has internal wireless. Now, under Windows XP, I could get my wireless to work 100%, but under Vista (the default OS it came with) Wireless is excruciatingly slow. My internet is 1mbps, and through Vista, I'm lucky to get 100kbps. Iv got the wireless card set for maximum performance, the Windows firewall is off when testing, and my CPU is set for maximum performance. Has anyone else had this problem? If anyone knows where I can get drivers for the Video, sound, and modem under XP, please let me know. Thanks
  3. Wow that was a lot of replies by you neo Anyway, sorry, I should have fixed that. Lately I haven't been thinking strait. It should be "shell32.dll" not "system32.dll" system32 is the folder that "shell32.dll" is in
  4. interesting
  5. Nah, I wouldn't worry about it. If you have Sp4 already integrated, you can go ahead and integrate USP5. It would be like buying a 2000 Cd with SP4 already in it then adding USP5 to it later.
  6. Well, your wasting some time I beleive, by incorporating Sp4 then USP5, your basically wasting some time as USP5 has Sp4 in it IIRC. As for your programs, check the Application Add-Ons forum here on MSFN.
  7. Do you have it installed on any other PC's right now? If so, get magic jelleybean keyfinder. It'll retrieve the key from an installed version.
  8. Yup it is. Those resources I believe are saved in system32.dll which you can edit with a resource editor. Such as reshack. Just Google it.
  9. Some CD-R's are a bit over 700mb. All of the CD-R's I have right now are 703mb. I had some CD-R's before that were 720mb. I have some CD-RW's that are bang on 700mb.
  10. You'd have to integrate SP2, then run it through nLite and obliterate WMP. That's the only what I know doing it.
  11. If none of the above suit your needs. Give either, Dream Linux, Vector Linux, or React OS. As React OS is pretty much Windows, you may find it quite nice.
  12. This post seems to be flying across the internet. For instance: http://www.pchwforum.com/index.php?showtop...vista++password http://www.gidforums.com/t-13245.html http://forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?p=777082 http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=29085 Just thought some people may want to know.
  13. Have you installed any new software lately? If so, what have you installed? It could be something that it put in the startup directory or in the registry causing this issue.
  14. Does this software work on Windows 2000 Professional? I've ripped the IE core out of my install, so just wondering.

    2 DVD Windows Pro

Yah, so that may just be something to do with drivers. The XP home cd you were asking about, just run that through nlite, it should work just fine.
  16. Well in that case, any Linksys Wireless G router out now would be perfect. I've had good luck with my D-Link router, but I have read that they are sometimes incompatible with modems.
  17. The default size is 1.5 times your ram, by looking at that, id say you have 1gb of ram? If so, that should be enough, but system managed is the best option as Tarun said. Windows will dynamically change it as it needs it.
  18. I wouldn't even pay $200 If I need to switch to a new OS, it'll be linux.
  19. It really depends on your needs. Do you need/want the speed of the N standard? Or are you interested in saving a bit of cash with the G standard? I'm still on a 802.11b wireless router, and it's working just fine for my internet and what not. I'd like to be able to transfer stuff through my network, but my router always crashes lol
  20. I have seen improperly installed/missing drivers cause this on some systems. It usually is video drivers, if you can believe that
  21. Is there no "Auto adjust"? All the lcds I've seen have that.

    2 DVD Windows Pro

Just run XP home through nlite. As for your OEM DVD, find the disc with I386 folder on it and copy that to your HDD and tell nLite to look in that directory. It should work.
  23. At school I use hotspot shield to get onto MSN, but at home I use a direct connection to the internet. You may want to give that software a try, it's free. Just don't let it install anchorfree.
  24. I'm sure it's possible, but it hasn't been done yet. Also, I don't Vista would run that well on 256mb ram. It barely runs on my 512mb system
  25. Ripken is right, you'll need to spend a decent amount of money. The receiver I have was 800 dollars new in '89 , speakers were 400 each
