  1. Hoping for an update on this soon I'm going to have some free time during exam week.
  2. It would run either just fine. But some of the multimedia stuff in ME would be quite slow. Just for stability, I'd try both and see which one runs the best and is most stable. From personal experience, ME has pretty much always been more stable for me. Some will argue that 98SE is better, but either would be good on that system. Try both, what have you got to lose?
  3. Do you think that maybe in the up coming versions that minimum ram check will be removed? I'd like to try to install vista on my PIII 650 laptop
  4. To use a proxy, first, open IE and then goto your internet options. Then click the tab, "Connections" then click the button, "Lan Connection" Click the check mark (turn it on) "Use a proxy server for your LAN..." then put in the "Address" without the quotes "200.65.127.163" and in the box next to "port" put, "3128". After doing that, click "OK" then "OK" again, and then try loading the page.
  5. Try connecting through a proxy. I've had sites not load on my own ISP, but when I use a proxy, it loads perfectly fine. Though it loads as if I'm living in Mexico
  6. I think he may have been recommending the minimum amount of memory you should have to install Windows 95, not the actual HDD size. I ran Windows 95 on a 486 DX/75MHz with 8MB of ram and a 512MB hdd. It ran fairly well, but by any means, the thing was just a glorified calculator. It was a Daewoo DN7400 (I think), either way, it was a tiny little computer.
  7. Hello all I have a really annoying problem happening. My father got me a DELL Latitude CPx J PIII 650MHz laptop. Unfortuneately, it's not reading the CPU right. It sees it as a 500MHz processor. I turned off Speedstep, I also tried setting it at Max Performance but to no avail. It still is reading it at 500MHz. My question is, has anyone else had this problem? I've tried the speedstep software on DELL's website, but it wouldn't install. So I tried this SpeedswitchXP software and that didn't do anything either. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Edit: Solved. I enabled application compatibility for Windows 98 and it worked. Now my processor is 650MHz.
  8. I just gave this a shot with my Office 2003 Student Edition, worked perfectly. Thank you so much for your hard work buckeyeXP! I just need one of these for Frontpage 2003
  9. I know that Professional supports multi processors.
  10. Extract the cab files for Windows 98 and Plus! 98 and you can get them.
  11. Oh you mean the themes that came with Windows 98 Desktop themes?

    X2K project status

Hi Dels, glad to hear from you again. I'm sorry to hear you lost your job, and I know what you mean about internet costs, they're high here too Anyway, glad to hear your letting people download the project freely now. Hopefully you can get some free time to work on it again. Cheers
  13. Do you want this bat file running during setup? Or after setup on a first boot? If so, try the RunOnce command (if you haven't done so already). Other than that, I'm clueless.
  14. I think he's saying something about the Administrator account not working with an unattended cd. Either that, or user accounts aren't working right. I can't quite make it out. It's something to do with language though. If the original poster could possibly re-post this in English, hopefully someone here could help.
  15. I don't think any of those features the average user will miss. For instance, the run as a service? I have no use for that as I only use Hamachi once in a while to connect to my computer from school. And needing to have it installed on every computer doesn't bother me much either, it's only about 5mb to install. So I don't care about that. I realize there's other people, but I'm just saying that what you said sounds like its trying to start some kind flame war. Hamachi is good software thats actively developed. It's simple for the average person to use too. Thats why I and so many other people like it.
  16. HOLY CRAP! Thats amazing! Any idea on how little of a system you'd need to run this?
  17. Yup, totally free. There is a paid version, but don't worry about that. Check this out to compare the 2 versions. linky
  18. IIRC you can either share files, or you can bridge the two networks and he can see your full network. Even use your internet if you configure it with ICS. Your basically creating a small network between the two computers, so whatever you can do on a real network, you can do with Hamachi.
  19. Yup. Just install on both machines, create a network on one machine, then join it on the other machine. Make sure you use a good password, this makes it more secure
  20. The best software that I have seen for doing this, is Hamachi. It's great software, and it's free.
  21. Well, with Windows XP, I beleive the minimum you can get it down to (while retaining networking capabilities) is just under 100MB. I got Windows 2000 down to 60MB and it still worked with network (but I needed to get my hands on a lot of drivers). The best thing to do is play around with nLite and VPC for a while. I did that, and I know what the limits are for my personal preferences now.
  22. Hello, and welcome to the forums. Enjoy your stay here!
  23. Ok, I see what's going on now. He wants to disable the left half of the start menu, not the right half. Do you want to completely disable it and not even have that pane show up? Or just disable it to prevent it from logging your recently opened programs? If the latter is true, then turn the "Number of Programs on the Start Menu" Options down to 0 and put all of your own programs in there.
