  1. My laptop does this, it's to do with speedstep in my case. I'd say get the program called CPUz and try that.
  2. I've noticed that when listening to music with the headphones in reverse, I hear more of the music that I missed with the headphones in the right way around. It's the same for a desktop setup. To me anyway.
  3. Exactly what others said here. It's over rating by the companies. My old Optimus STAV 3200 blows away home theater systems rated at over "1000" watts. It's all major BS if you ask me. The receiver I have is 100 watts RMS, and it can do it I'll tell you Also, another thing, stuff isn't built the same as it used to be.
  4. lol, old post don't ya think? I still have small holes, but the pain is entirely gone now, I can eat pizza again
  5. Click start --> run --> type "services.msc" without the quotes ---> check and see if "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" is started. If it's stopped, start and set it to automatic. Also, can you tell us what error you get? And another try might be to use Comodo personal firewall, it's much better than the built in XP one.
  6. Well for you first question, I can kind of answer it. On my wireless network in my house, my router is capable of 11mbps, unfortunately, I get about 2mbps at most. I think that this is just due to the way the information is being sent. The maximum speed (802.11b is 11mbps, 802.11g is 54mbps, and so on) is achieved in ideal conditions. ie) the best signal, no encryption (yes that does slow it down, I have noticed), minimal amounts of computers on the network, probably just 2, and it may even be in ad-hoc mode. Try connecting the two computers together in ad-hoc mode and I think you will be surprised in the difference in speed.
  7. I know of two good alternatives, but one of them has kinda gotten bloated in the later versions. If you use an older version, it's much better. The two are Winamp and musikCube. musikCube has some nice features, like a signature picture that tells what song your listening to and such. They have a very extensive help database too.
  8. I'll try netstat sometime next week when my brother isn't at home so I can get access to his computer He'll never let me on when he's home
  9. Blocking port 8484 - 8585 did the trick. Thanks gamehead

    Any Idea...

Just going by the sounds of it, it may be a dns resolution issue on your ISP's end. Maybe try a different browser, or try a proxy to confirm.
  11. A teacher at my school has asked me if I knew anyway to block maple story from her computer because her kids are constantly playing it and not doing their school work. Question is, how would I go about blocking this? She said her computer is connected to the internet through a wireless routere with a broadband modem connection. I know how block ports and domains, so I just need to know the port numbers or anything else I'd need to do to block this game. Anyone got any ideas? PS: I'd be interested in knowing for my own use because my brother constantly plays this game too without doing things that he's told. He often won't even come down for dinner any more
  12. I know this is an old post, but Home Edition has been deleted too. If the original creator could post back with the files, or perhaps PM me with them, I can host them on my website for everyone. I have 60gb bandwidth a month so I'd be happy to host these. @machkris, if you want to add these files to your Windows XP install cd, you must use the makecab utility and compress the file and overwrite the original file on the source CD. Thats the only way I know to put it on the original disc. if you want to patch an already installed XP install, you must boot in safe mode and overwrite the NTOSKRNL.exe file in System32.

    id***'s Guide

The software is very self explanatory really. Just run nLite and it pretty much tells you what to do. HFSlip is a different matter for me though, I'm still learning it
  14. Heres a link to version 7.5.9 on softpedia.com http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/...Nero-Lite.shtml
  15. I can't seem to download the installer on the website. Perhaps the files are being updated?
  16. I really like to uses the default blue theme since I'm so use to it, but lately I have taken a liking to the Royale Noir theme. The remixed one by oddbasket is really nice too.
  17. You'd have to ask ricktendo64 that, its a screenshot from one of his computers. Edit: I think I know which one it is now. http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?sho...48&hl=vista
  18. I have given DreamLinux a try and I will tell you, its very nice looking. And it's fast. It's very easy t o setup and get running. I had my wifi card working in about 10 minutes. It uses NDIS Wrapper though.
  19. hehe I'm glad you guys like the tweak. Thanks for the feedback everyone Thanks also go out to ricktendo64, oxcoxp, VA(S)T, tom and Arnab for all this work too I can't thank them enough for helping me with this tweak.
  20. The AMD chips achieve a higher speed at a lower clock speed, thus the 3000. My 1800+ is 1.53GHz, which is what Windows sees it as, but it runs like a 1.8ghz processor of equivalence.

    TinyXP

    Isn't tinyxp warez?
  22. No one can just tell you what OS to put on your system, mainly because you will get opinions from several different people on what you should put on it. But I think the best OS to put on that machine would be 98se. If you can though, try to add more ram to it, that will greatly help in speed.
