I was not trying to format a drive, i was just trying to access the contents of already formatted GPT drives. But my XP won't boot with GPT Loader installed. It may have something to do with the version i tried, but i read about others getting a BSOD too. In the end i wrote that off and used a Win7 VM to access those drives.

My Browser Builds (Part 2)
RainyShadow replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
@roytam1 did you had a chance to check about these two issues? https://msfn.org/board/topic/180462-my-browser-builds-part-2/?do=findComment&comment=1184123 ^ I tested the oldest ia32 build i found (basilisk52-g4.4.win32-git-20191130-95e1c106f-xpmod-ia32.7z) and it has this bug as well; https://msfn.org/board/topic/180462-my-browser-builds-part-2/?do=findComment&comment=1184140 ^ I'm staying on palemoon-27.9.7.win32-git-20200704-32e7e53ea-xpmod-sse.7z because of this, it's the latest build of NM27 where the extension works. Is it a regression in the browser, or a bug in the extension that didn't manifest itself before? I reported this to JustOff too. They said "Sorry, but I don't support unofficial builds based on PM27." and marked it as wontfix @Sampei.Nihira IMHO warnings are a good thing, unless they come with automatic disable. They remind you that something may not work properly, better not hide them. -
XP doesn't support GPT anyways, so forget about installing it on such a drive. You may be able to use it as a second/non-system disk with the help of Paragon GPT Loader (does another such tool exist?), but when i tried it i always got BSOD on boot...

@aoresteen Start BOOTICE (it's included in HBCD). Click "Process PBR", select the XP partition and install either NTLDR or BOOTMGR boot record. I've seen cases where the latter boots XP, while the former doesn't. Next, open the XP partition in Explorer and remove/rename bootmgr if it's there (make sure you can see hidden files).

This script helps a bit. I edited it to set the cookie to 9 instead of 8 though. -
Cursor Slides to Bottom-Left and Top-Right Corners of Screen
RainyShadow replied to LonelyMarowak's topic in Windows 9x/ME
@LonelyMarowak, are you using the Alps driver or the generic PS/2 mouse driver? If the former, check its settings - you may be able to disable only the defective pointstick (or whatever Dell calls it, the thing in the middle of the keyboard) and still be able to use the touchpad. There may be a similar setting in BIOS as well, check there too. Hardcore option - disconnect the keyboard, find the pointstick pins on the cable (they are usually obvious) and cover them with a piece of thin tape, so they won't make contact with the connector pins. I got the two versions from here and by simply extracting the .msi files with UniExtract they run fine in their intended OS without proper installing. The v.4beta complains that it has expired, but setting the year to 2010 makes it work. Personally, i would not use software with such artifical blocks (OS and date check) even if i could. But, hey, it's your choice.

My Browser Builds (Part 2)
RainyShadow replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
@siria With JS enabled it does a redirect to some "consent" page, but it fails to execute the user confirmation query. @bernd Just toggle javascript.enabled in about:config to "false" when you want to browse that site in NM27. Or block cdn.prod.www.spiegel.de/public/shared/generated/js/commons.af6b33288db642f3649d.js You said you got other browsers to access it. What more do you want? This thing filled over a page here already, while distracting from other bugs/regressions. -
My Browser Builds (Part 2)

You both don't say which browser you use... I also couldn't access that site in NM27, but it works in Serpent52. -
My Browser Builds (Part 2)
RainyShadow replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Roy does NM27 builds for systems without SSE2 support (like mine). Nobody shared a SSE-only build of NM28 so far. I wonder how complete is the SSEPlus project and what would it take to use it in NM28? @roytam1? btw. i just found that the latest NM27 build breaks the Add Bookmark Helper . In older builds it used to show the bookmark editor dialog when adding a bookmark, but now it doesn't. Other options don't seem to be working too. -

I just noticed this in Serpent52, not sure if it's a new bug or old: I tested different sites and in a clean profile, but it's always NaNpx × NaNpx everywhere. Video dimensions show properly in NM27. -
I think you should add it to the first post here instead of creating a whole new thread. If anything can't fit in, upload it elsewhere and put a link to it.

I was waiting for LAVFiltersXP fix to get this, but... no updates for nearly a year now...

First try worked here, but after that it broke down. I think they should take "legacy" out of the name now... -

So, i should stick to Serpent 52 and don't bother with 55, right? Does Serpent 55 have any advantage over 52 in terms of general compatibility with popular websites? -
@Dave-H did you try playing with those XXX_Range values? You may be able to limit the left/right "button" clicks to tiny corner areas or something like that. Also, set IdleTime_ShowItem to 1, then try various ways of tap/click + hold for over a second. Or a few clicks separated by variable delays of over/under a second. Is there an option to disable the touchpad while you type? That may related... [edit] save all ^ that ^ for after you get the thing working, lol.

SumatraPDF v.3.0 works fine here, as does Audacity v.2.0.3 The building guide for Audacity suggests MSVC 2017, didn't that come with a default setting to enforce SSE2 optimisation?
-
Same as the SumatraPDF port - exception c000001d
-
It crashes here, seems to need SSE2 or whatever...

My Browser Builds (Part 2)
RainyShadow replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I did test this in the latest NM27-SSE release. The browser crashes unless you disable the "replace download page" option. Anyways, after seeing how it looks in the latest Serpent build, i didn't like this extension. It wants you to install another one for full context menu, wtf?! Have you tried DownThemAll ? [edit] I forgot to mention... as you requested i tested this in my daily profile, not in a clean one. -

Or, just make a new shortcut to palemoon.exe and edit its "Target:" field by adding " --ProfileManager" to the end, so it looks something like "E:\Programs\palemoon\palemoon.exe --ProfileManager" -
