    Get the original file from the Office CD. If it works fine with it, you can try to re-apply the updates one by one (without the bad ones mentioned before) and see if it breaks again.

    Wasn't there an empty plugins page screenshot before, huh?! This would mean not visible to the browser, not a simple "Click to play". Am i mistaken (if so, sorry), or you edited it out... can't recall now A-ha! It must be some trick with NM that i'm not aware of. Do you restart the browser to make it visible? If it's a simple toggle without a need to restart, i'd like to know how it's done. A browser won't be able to start a plugin if it doesn't see it at all... Anyways, glad to know you've worked it out :P

    So, you have Flash installed in your system, but not in the browser? Why keep it then? Just to fill a few MB on your drive? No, the most "dangerous" software to use on your PC is Windows10. It hijacks your whole system, and you're even happy for this, lol... I want to play my flash games, screw "unknown vulnerabilities"

    There is real mode *.SYS, then there is protected mode *.SYS ... Check a Win10 install and see for yourself :P

    @naaloh Do you have access to a Vista/7/8+ system? You can capture the install there with Cameyo Packager and use the resulting package on your XP.

    This email looks like it is meant for a mechanical HDD. Did you explicitly specify that it is a SSD you'll be sending to them? --- Does anyone else have issues with imgur recently? Often it loads pages half-way, then turns everything to black.

    Use it. Add your device ID if it isn't in the .inf file. Use regedit in XP, find the key with the NVidia settings and export it to a .reg file. Use regedit in 98, find the key with the NVidia settings and export it to a .reg file. Make a copy of that file. Open the two files in a text editor, copy the contents of the XP file (without the header) and paste it over the contents of the 98 file (without the header). Save the 98 file, then import it into the 98 registry. Does it support 7150m? P.S. still no answer from you about this... Some (most) NVidia GPU chips were used in both the "consumer" GeForce series and the "professional" Quadro series. There may be a Quadro driver for your chip somewhere...

    Well... mostly. Try looking for any NVidia Win9x driver with support for a GPU that uses shared memory (they call it UMA). You can also try to copy the driver settings in registry from XP and see if it changes anything.

    Download the linked file, extract MPCVideoDec.ax somewhere, open the command prompt, navigate to the folder where you extracted the file, then type regsvr32 MPCVideoDec.ax

    The issue is not with the amount of system RAM, but with the way the driver configures the GPU. No need to do a new install of Win98 - if you run PATCHMEM again, it should offer you to uninstall the patch.

    HDMI uses a different sound card - the one you have listed as "Intel Display Audio" in device manager. You need to fix the IDT sound card - it may be wrong driver, or a hardware problem (i had replaced a few defective audio chips at work in the past...) Also, try installing the chipset drivers - you seem to be missing few. [edit] Ooops, didn't notice this was old... sorry

    The problem seems to be that the GPU uses system RAM (UMA tech) instead of its own dedicated VRAM (as i guessed earlier - VRAM issue) The modded driver probably doesn't consider this and try to drive it as a normal card with dedicated VRAM. The only other similar GPU i found is the 7150m. If you find a Win9x driver for it, that may work for yours as well. It may be a simple registry setting, but i couldn't locate it yet. Those modded drivers apply the same settings for almost all cards, so i suspect the 7150m will fail there too.

    None of the official drivers i have contains DEV_0244. The only driver i found with this ID is the modified one you already have... There is also this site, but i found only drivers for Win2k/XP/Vista+. The XP driver there has your ID. What is the exact model of that notebook? It should be on the sticker at the bottom.

    NVUNINST is the UNinstaller, not the installer. It is probably started to remove the previous driver before installing the new one. Try first fully uninstalling the driver, then installing the new one. Vbetest results seem fine. This, and the fact that it runs fine in XP rules out any hardware defects. I don't know about WDMEX, i haven't tried it.

    The available tests depend on the detected VBE support. Try checking 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and any higher available resolutions in 8bit, 15/16bit, 24/32bit colors.     This looks like a VRAM or LVDS cable problem, huh. Try connecting external monitor/TV to check. Does it look normal before loading Windows? Have you booted some other OS recently? Try running this program from DOS (not DOS prompt in Windows) - Vbetest.exe (it is part of the Scitech Display Doctor package) Select "interactive tests" and try testing some higher resolutions. If it shows similar issues there, you may have a hardware problem.
