  1. This should go under Networks and Internet Security topic. Mods, please move. Thanks.
  2. Open a few windows then press the win key + tab. That makes them all visible each behind the other.
  3. You mean you installed xp over vista on the same partition???? That's a no-no!!!!

It is out! And for those who like cheating here are the cheats. Good playing!
  5. Not to mention that you also need a dedicated graphics card to experience the aero effect. As Kelsenellenelvian said, I just don't see it happen on your system specs. Sorry mate...
  6. If it's a LED then the fault is on the circuitry, not the LED itself. LED's don't flicker. Have you checked the USB port too?
  7. the win 2k drivers will work just as fine on win xp as well...
  8. As previously said in the forums here, Vista will be using DirectX 10 and none of the video cards on the market at the moment support hardware dx10, so I'd say wait for the next generation of video cards. Anyway, by that time Vista will have had (at least) some bugs discovered and plugged.
  9. Is this a clean install? Have you prepared the partition? Is it large enough? Also, some specs of your pc would be good to know.
  10. unfortunately... make sure you ghost or somehow backup your existing win installation, maybe you will want to revert later...
  11. That's strange... Never heard of that happening before. Check in bios sata is set as ide (or enhanced mode). Most of the win xp drivers work flawlessly in win2k3. Checked on a few systems. See my first reply. Usually the manufacturers of the chipsets integrated on the mobo have the x64 drivers. Check their respective websites... Anytime
  12. maybe it's trying to tell you that it reached its life expectancy and it's time to get a new one...
  13. have you installed any drivers for your tv-tuner?
  14. TBH I don't really like Vista that much. Loads of questions asked for deleting a shortcut from desktop. Come on!!! I modded my xp mce to look like Vista and am happy with it. Not to mention the driver support, software support, etc, etc... Won't move on to Vista before it was tested and reviewed as a finished product. Bare in mind that it still is a BETA (meaning under construction/refining). IMO M$ could have come up with something easier to use. Just my 2 cents. nitro
  15. while booting press F8 and choose "enable vga mode". this will bypass your vga drivers and display your desktop in standard mode.
  16. i always do it that way. a bit more work, but i know what is going in my system.
  17. set the sata controller to ide from the bios.
  18. Well, how about this: I own xp media center and xp pro, both from the same shop. i'm using mce and i put the pro version on my cousin's pc. i haven't got any problems with my pc but got a call a few days ago from my cousin to tell me about wga which is bugging him every start-up. remember: PAID copy of win xp pro, bought from a serious computer shop, in its box, watermarked cd!!!!! HA! I tend to agree now with |-|ackers and [rackers (sorry mods, please remove if offensive). Get a life, M$ people. I bought my pc, paid for it so NO-ONE owns my pc but me and only me. And if I'll ever run into my cousin's trouble, it will probably be bye bye blue, red, green and yellow and welcome penguin! That said, I rest my case...

  20. looks like the MBR is a gonner. try fixing it and let us know. (MBR = master boot record)
  21. if you formatted in ntfs when installed xp, then you will have to boot off the xp setup cd and format in fat32, then reboot, insert your win98 setup cd and let it do its thing.
  22. me too. although i like playing with vista every now and then, just for the eye candy
  23. set the device manager to show hidden devices.
