  1. You mean you have 2 drives and only 1 is recognised?
  2. What is your system make? HP? Dell? Go on the manufacturer's site and identify the hardware in your pc, then go on intel website and voila!
  3. Thanks fizban2, I'll give it a go. Pitty that we can't use NOD32, but I'm sure this is just a temporary situation.
  4. Or use a program like HideIP... Google will tell you where to download it from. Shareware!
  5. @RogueSpear They haven't, and it turned out that the problem lied with the access point as I thought. Anyway, problem sorted now
  6. I'd rather clean the lens of the drive...
  7. It won't boot on your machine. I would remove one RAM module and retry installing Vista. From my experience I know that 99% of unsuccessfull setups are due to faulty / malfunctioning RAM modules.
  8. YUK!!!! I hope you cleaned the keyboard before typing... Otherwise you had a nice snack.
  9. WolfX2 got me to type with my nose ;P Couldn't manage to type the semicolumn....
  10. Make sure that you log into the domain with the xp machine and that the user account is set in the server machine. In rest, any changes made in the GPO on the server will affect the way the xp machine will behave.
  11. Each to its own: at home I use XP x64 (eats chunks of instructions twice as great as the x86, in theory at least) and at work I have a mixed environment - w2k3 enterprise server on the server and XP Pro x86 on the workstations. In my opinion x64 is better than x86, although one may have a hard time finding drivers...
  12. I find Everest quite good actually. You may find it here.
  13. Hi guys! I tried to install NOD32 v.2.51.20 on Vista 5472. It installs fine but after reboot my pc locks up soon after displaying the desktop. No icons appear in the system tray. I assume that Vista blocks the NOD32 engine to start (although it doesn't ask me whether I want to let this program run). Has anyone tried this scenario? Any ideas? What other antivirus might work on Vista? Thanks for help. nitro
  14. You forgot to mention what CPU u got there . Anyway, your system looks good enough to support Vista. As for the problem you are facing: have you tried to install on a different pc to make sure the Vista setup dvd is ok? Maybe some files needed during the boot sequence are corrupted. Or you may try undoing any overclock (if you did any). Also, make sure that you install on a NTFS formatted partition.
  15. Looks like a graphic card driver issue. What version of catalyst are you using? Also, I have found out from my experience that installing the driver for ATI cards from the Device Manager works better than installing all that ATI cr/-\p. Try going back to an earlier version of catalyst or install the driver only as described above. nitro
  16. Also the built-in spyware in outpost firewall. Haven't had any problems since installing these two proggies.

    Prey

Finished it a couple of days ago. Deffo the most weird game I've ever played, with those gravity inverters...
  18. you need to go to tools --> internet options --> connections tab. also, you will need thse settings of your proxy and the port(s) to connect to. check with your isp.
  19. Yep.
  20. Static dhcp ip is given by the isp, that's how they allocate the ip's to their clients, don't know why... Signal strength is around 80%. I tried the following last afternoon: ping my router with 6400 bytes, 0% loss, average ttl = 3ms. Tried to ping my access point, any packets bigger than 1024 are dropped and "request timed out" shows up. That led me to believe that the problem lies with my access point. Am I right? Funny enough, this setup worked flawlessly until a few days ago. Rang the isp and told them about the problem (the access point is theirs) and they said will come to replace it. Will see if after replacing it I'll have the same problem and will come back here to let you know. @Tain Thank you for your help. I haven't used any tweaks, any new firmware, everything is exactly as it was when it was working.
  21. Hi y`all! I have the following setup: Wireless Access Point ---> Router ---> 2 PC's. I get my internet through the access point. Now, when I try to ping their server with more than 1024 bytes of info i get "request timed out" every single time. This happens from both my pc's. I have a hunch that the problem lies with the ISP's access point, but I may be wrong. Also, I can't get on some web pages (msfn is one of them) and all downloads hang at various stages. I tried rebooting all the hardware without success. I am now writing from my o(ri)ffice . The ip's are static, assigned by dhcp from the isp. Have you got any idea as to why this is happening? Thanks in advance for your help. nitroshift
  22. I remember having the same problem a while ago, some files turned into folders ... Ended up giving them up and doing a clean install of windows
  23. Hi and welcome to msfn! M$ has posted on its own website a way to get rid of the wga thingy. Hope this helps. Cheers! PS. For the mods: if this is against the forum rules (although M$ themselves have put this up on their own site) please remove and accept my apologies.
  24. USB Flash Memory sticks have their drivers automatically installed by windows, no need for other drivers. As for the digital cameras, that's a different story; usually they come with a CD containing drivers.
