MCE doesn't read .ppt or .pps files. you will need to convert the presentation in .mpg or .mpeg. such conversion apps are found on google and even here i saw a thread about converting powerpoint slides to video stream.
what windows is installed onto that laptop? 2k or xp? either way you will need to either repair that windows installation or reinstall windows. have you tried booting in safe mode? if you manage to boot into safe mode go in start ---> run and type msconfig. under the startup tab uncheck all the entries and reboot in normal way. see if it works. good luck!
different countries, different video encoding. i am using nvidia purevideo decoder and does wonders but for that you will need at least a nv43 video chipset on your graphics card.
this is exactly why i always recommend making a ghost image of the OS before upgrading. that way you can always restore it. as for restoring back to xp, i doubt you will do that as vista wrote its (newer) files in the windows folder and modified the registry. however, if anyone manages the restoration i'll be interested to know how they did it.
@TAiN that's how i configured my office lan. works flawless. @fatalwoomera you will need the mac adress of your nic. then go into server and reserve the ip for that mac and set the lease time to maximum.
if you read what M$ has to say about language interface packs, you will see they are stand-alone programs that install on top of windows. try that and let me know if you succeed. cheers!
that windows cd is an OEM version, it is tailored for use only on Dell pc's, therefore can't be used to install on a different pc. that's what i know. nlite it and see if it works. also, reinstalling on a dell pc comes with a bsod?
true! i have had one customer that complained about the same problem and was using norton antivirus. removed it (can't remember what antivirus have installed afterwards) and voila! start-up and shutdown times decreased drastically. unless you have a crazy amount of ram (even then i'd recommend getting rid of norton)...
