  3. diablo would be fine in a vm and also ipx would probably work better in a vm i dont know what happens to it in wine but the others would need 3d acceleartion and im pretty sure though i could be wrong that vmware doesnt support 3d acceleration.
  4. or better instead of putting irfanview in quicklaunch put it in sendto then u can right click and send to irfanview to open it
  5. UAC isnt really necessary, if you have an administrator account and a user account then you wont run into any problems for normal stuff you use the user account and installing stuff you would use admin but no one really does this. the problem is more that the user created in the setup as an admin. also if you create an admin account you expect to be able to do everything thats where uac becomes really annoying
  6. you probably should turn off automatic restart after system failure and then you might have more idea why the BSODs are occouring

  17. file manager definately is useful however it is a bit dated in lack of support for long file names and stuff
  18. i dont think 95 comes with ipconfig like 98 and wfw you would need to steal it from one of those, seems a bit strange though because you would expect ipconfig to be with tracert, ping, netstat
  19. hmm yeah sad is right, hmm i have had some problems with network and ubuntu it just wouldnt work sometimes
  20. to image the drive you would use ghost or partimage or something similar however you dont appear to have a way of getting it off the laptop the bios might let you boot from the cdrom if not you will need to boot of a floppy or something however you dont have this so im unsure what you can do here, perhaps you could transfer over serial or parallel if you cant use the cdrom drive, but what do you need to be able to boot of the cdrom for in this case?

  25. dont worry your not the only one what you need is unnofficial service pack version either 2.1a which is the stable version but is a bit outdated by now or unnofficial service pack 3 beta 3 which is more upto date but is a beta but i havent had any problems with it that i know of aslo you will want Maximum-Decim Native USB Drivers which provides generic drivers for usb mass storage devices http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=43605
