$329! i got my E8400 for $189 though that was at the computer fair rather then a store or online or something. i have a GA-G31M-S2L and it works fine though i would recommend getting a board with a new chipset cause i would have liked a better board but my sister wasnt going to buy me a more expensive one so thats what i have. hmm you can run all those games on the pc in you signature anyway
always service pack first so you have an updated OS i would have kernelex after revolutions pack but id suggest waiting for rp8 though that could be a while, but uberskin can be used.
also when u do a new windows install its easiest to copy the cabs to eg C:\win98 and run the install from there so that 98 always looks there for the cab files
well NT4VU has no theming like uxthemes, it mainly patches bmps and icons though what happens on 2000 i dont know and some stuff i patch in NT4 might not be obvious in 2000
it probably works on 2000 though ive never tested it and it would patch stuff like it would patch nt4, mainly meaning the login screen would say nt4 instead of 2000 etc vistapack however is designed to work on 2000 http://www.msfn.org/board/Vistapack-25-released-t119468.html
i think so though im not sure, though it will probably complain on boot about no keyboard or mouse but i think i remember vncing into a 486 with no keyboard or mouse but im not quite sure
i tried integrating sp6 into nt4 media and it works well but msi 2 doesnt work because the service doesnt get registered so i have to delete msiexec.exe after every nt4 install
id say i like ubuntu most but my experience is limited also eg i havent run mandrake since version 10.2, i do really feel that i will move to linux one day but.... not yet
you need to install 98 first and prefereably you need to leave some of the hdd unused so that you can create linux partitions rather then having to resize your fat32 paritions. then you need to pick a linux distrobution eg. ubuntu and in the setup it should allow you to manually create an ext2 or ext3 partition and a linux swap partition. when the setup is finished your system will go into the grub bootloader (i dont think lilo is used much anymore) and you should have the option to boot to linux or windows
yes and no, the easiest thing to do is have the same username and password otherwise the 9x machine cant access the share on the NT machine. however the otherway round it is fine the NT machine can access the 9x machine without problem
the easiest thing to do would probably use a network connection. just connect the computers to a switch/hub with a network cables or 2 computers togther with a crossover cable, then you need to asign ip addresses either static or using DHCP. and the important thing is to make sure that both pcs have the same user name and password so that they can share files easily
Release: NT4VU3 Beta 2 [New Features in NT4VU3 Beta 2] NT4 Server support. Shell Update support reinstated again. New Logon BMP Seperation into Packages [updated in NT4VU3 Beta 2] Fixes here and there. [Packages] This build is Seperated into different packages. This means that you can choose to an extent what stuff you want which means the size should be smaller. The base package uses the NSIS installer present in previous versions, the other packages are zip archives which need to be extracted into the resources folder. For NT4 Workstation you need to choose either the standard shell which is the default shell or the shell update which comes with IE4. I have not made a shell update package for NT4 Server because I do not believe this necessary. NT4VU3_B2_Base: The base package needed by everyone. NT4VU3B2_IE6: Needed if you have installed IE6. NT4VU3B2_Server: Needed if you have installed Windows NT4 Server. NT4VU3B2_Workstation: Needed if you have installed Windows NT4 Workstation. NT4VU3B2_Workstation_Shell-Update: Needed if you have installed the Shell Update on Windows NT4 Workstation. NT4VU3B2_Workstation_Standared-Shell: Needed if you have not installed the Shell Update on Windows NT4 Workstation.
