awergh replied to LLXX's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
my though about 149gb instead of 160gb was that Seagate got sued recently, but maybe they havent put the right amounts yet. well i did have a bsod about vmm or something recently so im not sure i re cloned the drive from the 40gb, and i decided to do what i intend which is 120gb partion and 29gb for other os or something, but im only at 9gb full of 20gb because i decided not to use MAKE2GB for some reason -

awergh replied to LLXX's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
im just wanting some confirmation, i just installed 98se and usp3, drivers and stuff, and i installed 48BITLBA and intel application accelerator and on a 40gb disk then ghosted it to a 160gb disk and ran the 160gb disk and i filled it up using MAKE2GB from COPY2GB i filled the disk to 149GB its not really 160GB oh well so i have 139mb left and windows still boots so i can assume i didnt have any problems with 48bitlba? -
well windows update still worked for nt4 when i used it a couple of days ago, so the binaries are probably there

New Release: NT4VU3 Alpha 1 [New Features of NT4VU3 Alpha 1] -Damian666's filepatcher is used for the installer which means no batch files and at the is point in time will be used for all future releases. This means i no longer copy files such as shell32.dll which means that windows updates can be applied without problem. (even if there arent that many) This also means there is a more reliable backup and uninstall because they arent affected by me making mistakes in batch files like before Also there is an option to install welcome centre after install. You will have to restart after you have installed NT4VU3A1 -Icon error caused by the reg files has been fixed I think. [issues in NT4VU3 Alpha 1] -Sysdm.cpl has not been patched because im not sure how to apply Marxo's sysdm.cpl. -Newer logon screensaver is not included because im not sure how to apply it. -There might be some minor error messages in the installer, but i havent found any that effect how it functions. -REGEDIT.EXE isnt patched because it is read only by default, if it is not readonly it should be patched. -Shell Update is not supported in this release. -256 Colour Systray fix has not been applied. [system Requirements] Windows NT4 Workstaion Service Pack 6 Internet Explorer 6 (Not required) (OE6 for OE stuff and wmp7.0 and or wmp6.4 for wmp stuff) A computer capable of Running Windows NT4 Video card capable of 16bit Colour for icons Video card capable of 24bit Colour may be required for some bmps (Shell Update is not supported in this release) Screenshots (Installer) (General Screenshot) Download 7.09MB http://www.divshare.com/download/3172870-7be

Using the NT4 Explorer as a "Windows Explorer" XP replacemen
awergh replied to Ambassador's topic in Customizing Windows
it doesnt look too bad, did you use the nt4 explorer with web intergration (4.7ish) rather then the default 4.0? -
you could try having a look here http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=105725 theres a link to an early version of a generic video driver

What next after Lavasoft/Grisoft drop support for 98 S.E
awergh replied to frogman's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
spybot doesnt use that much unless it is running, just disable teatimer and only run it when you want it -
since im just happily working on nt4vu3x at the moment i think, im wondering any stuff that needs to be fixed so that it can be the best it can, and i think i need some ideas maybe
-
i was wondering about the charactoristics of the weapons i think, because the sniper rifle in 2004 was annoying and the translocator was weird, where as in 99 they were more fun to use
-
since i prefer ut99 to 2004 im wondering what ut3 is like (cant run it on my current hardware) what has happened to the sniper rifle and the translocator

SpeedTouch 530, No external ping responses
awergh replied to awergh's topic in Networks and the Internet
there is a default server option that i found that i set to the ipcop box which means the firewall test says there is a ping response but it doesnt matter too much now because ive been using hamachi except it doesnt support 98se which is a bit sad -
it sounds unlikely, but messenger 5 works

SpeedTouch 530, No external ping responses
awergh replied to awergh's topic in Networks and the Internet
dont have this option. ive opened ports for ut and have found on the pc when i run some firewall test (first result when I googled firewall test) when i ping port 7778 for example it fails the test on one count, reponding to the probe i think but there is no ping response so im not sure, i think i might have broken something on the modem thingy from flushing the firewall rules and stuff at some stage. -
just welcome centre will work on a 2000 machine nt4 visual update as a whole will not work on a 2000 machine, well it might but id recommend using vistapack on a 2000 machine if you wanted to update icons. but Welcome Centre has been written so that 2000 will work with it properly.(It should work on win95 or higher but not all the links to the places would work. for welcome centre you just need welcome.exe somewhere and the bmp needs to be in %windir%\system32 (both of these are in the "other" folder in the nt4vu director.)

yeah the installer is a bit of a problem but i havent worked out what to do about it
-
you needed to create three floppy disks? you must of just used the i386 files, you have to have the whole disk for nt4 unlike 9x there is dx5 for nt4 kind of. Id forgoton about all the stuff in weird places it gives me an idea though. i quite like nt4 but i do prefer 98se, though i think nt4 is a nicer setup because it is much faster
