  1. No, sir! The Deskpro EN came as both SFF (yours) and CMT. Compaq EVO's were sold the same way. http://www.cnet.com/products/compaq-deskpro-en-series-convertible-minitower-computer-series/ If it's a Full Tower, the PSU is (probably) absolutely not proprietary size.
  2. Pretty sad to depend on torrents noting that OEM's don't supply anything but recovery DVD's chock full of "goodies" *i.e. no clean installs). You'll notice you can't get one from MS now without a *Retail* key. If anyone goes that route, you'd better check the hash to be sure it's the real deal. Those values are easily obtainable via a web search.
  3. Aaaand..... ....I get to delete the previous ones from my HDD and download the lastest EOL (heh...) SP4. (Yay!)
  4. @vinifera - Nope, no "trial"/"test drive" anymore. https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links Some thoughts (before the plug was entirely yanked) - http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/360257-digital-river-win7-iso-servers-taken-down-again.html Seems the really-really-really want people to upgrade to Windows10. (YAY! I have my Win7 SP1u Pro OEM DVD) Side note - Even Vista has been yanked. https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/57-windows-vista-direct-download-links
  5. According to this, you could make a minor wiring readjustment to a standard ATX PSU and have a better one. http://pinouts.ru/Power/compaq_psu_pinout.shtml Note the comments about Pin #'s were reversed. Double-check that against this - http://pinouts.ru/Power/atxpower_pinout.shtml Used ATX PSU's can be gotten for cheap. Just be aware of it's fit into the case and screw-holes. You're lucky it's not TOTALLY proprietary. Some HP/Compaq and LOTS of Dells extremely were weird (scroll down)! http://pinouts.ru/power/
  6. ...and the Lense. CAREFULLY so as not to disturb the positioning. Tricky operation. Old laptop CD-Rom's are hard to come by and you're lucky to have obtained another.
  7. Haven't tried this, but one might wonder of a PS2->USB adapter would work? I have one but I purchased it to work on a guy's failed PC (USB3 failure) so it was useless in that respect (duh!). I suspected that someone idiotically got into the BIOS and completely disabled the Controllers and there was no way to reset the BIOS (totally jumperless rather newish HP Win7x64 Home Premium). Mind you, I tricked up a USB install (separate drive) via a separate USB3 PCI-e Add-In (it booted to it as the BIOS was set to go to it) and loaded the Add-In Driver and could access the original HDD to save several DVD's worth of pictures, etc. Didn't bother with the Adapter for that. They're cheap so it's worth a try (if you wish). Google this. ps2-to-usbHTH
  8. Google on "UVIDS.ZIP" reveals this - http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:tVXb3eUPvA4J:http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?50852-Zipped-important-files-and-now-Winzip-won-t-unzip-them%2B%22uvids.zip%22&hl=en&biw&bih&gbv=2&&ct=clnk And a post to ExpertsExchange going all the way back to 2005. By a different person. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:OQagr_TBb8MJ:http://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21564282/Zipped-important-files-and-now-Winzip-won%27t-unzip-them.html%2B%22uvids.zip%22&hl=en&biw&bih&gbv=2&&ct=clnk Exact same text. What's up with that?
  9. Note that the Updates are from Server2k3, so your list of Post-EOL will be a year's worth. Also see this (mentions 5eraph, BTW) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/105277-howto-create-a-fully-up-to-date-xp-x64-dvd-eol-december-2015/ HTH
  10. Uhhh.... and what makes anyone think DOS/Win9x won't run on a 64-bit processor? (Pssstttt - backwards compatible. )
  11. That's becuase the ULZ were created from manually obtianing the direct links from the actual KB download. Whereas the MS Downloads via Windows/MS Update are from a diggerent server (AFAIK). IOW... AMD64-all-windows6.1-kb2803821-v2-x64_d89c709a7908f771a78e27933081f269c2abfb9d.msu ..is the exact same file as... windows6.1-kb2803821-v2-x64.msu And I'm betting you're using the OUTDATED ULZ file from the WUD website. See this for the latest - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/139877-post-sp1-updates-for-windows-7-updated-25032015/#entry1100970 Be aware that the Wincert website (which is link inside that post) requires you to be a member to get it. You're spinning your wheels (like all the other WUD obsolete ULZ users). HTH
  12. Motherboard specs? You didn't supply them...
  13. Those are *probably* False Positives. Maybe due to Repack to get all of the Updates merged?
  14. @11ryanc - Smacking down Windows7 (due to *your* choice) is retarded (is it not?), since there's nothing wrong with it (you said so above). 'Nuff Said. Knock it off! 'K, thanx... Rule#7b, Mr. TinFoil (extremely rude out of the gate, no?) - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules
  15. USB Mouse Driver for DOS? Kind of doubt it. You're lucky to be able to access the USB Ports at all.
  16. PSU is waaaay to weak, to be sure, IMHO. I have a 256mb one and it *does* draw power. 200-250watt PSU should be a "standard".
  17. Here (ICYMI) - http://xdot.tk Just the last Windows Updates (no frills). Use nLite for creating a Final (EOL) CD. Any other Updates are non-WindowsXP (Optionals) and/or Post-EOL (e.g. XP POS - see thread). Bear in mind, Windows Update (for XP) could disappear any time (like 9x and 2K). Also, Windows Update *only* updates what you have installed and (sometimes) doesn't pay attention to Superseded (installs older, then newer Fixes). HTH
  18. Suggestion - NEVER compact *all* folders. Do them one at a time, Empy Recycle Bin (it puts a copy of the old one there), rinse & repeat for the next one. You can Delete multiple (not all) in the Inbox, delete contents of Deleted, compress, Empty Recycle, rinse & repeat. The LARGEST Folder in OE will clobber you (goes to Recycle Bin). So start with the Smallest and work your way up. Underkill.
  19. Ouch! MY EYES!!! Not cool! Xcopy may/may-not have worked. Did you try just - 1 - MD C:\WIN95 2 - COPY x:\Win95\*.* C:\WIN95 (x is your CD Drive Letter) For that matter, you could have - 1 - CD x:\WIN95 <-change to CD-Drive WIN95 Folder 2 - x: <-makes your Propmpt move to x:\Win95 3 - SETUP.EXE <-runs Setup from your CD Drive, no need to copy to HDD, but would need available for Add/Remove Of course your CD-Drive could still have the same failure.
  20. How odd! According to this (and FG v1.73 works in 98SE AFAICR) - http://www.flashget.com/en/whatsnew.htm Command Line was added in v1.50, so it should work (scroll down to it). HTH
  21. Well, what I *meant* was the Partition Size limitations you indicated. Ennyhoo, have fun!
  22. One is GDR, the other is LDR. I believe there's an explanation "somewhere" (or a link to it) here on MSFN. What you're seeing is some kind of Updates tracking mechanism for WU (AFAICT).
  23. Turn off a whole mess of unnecessary services. dotNet Optimizer is the first to go. Agreed on Black Viper recommendations. Pretty good tips there. Google blackviper windows 7Right at the top.
  24. No translation needed. I guess Mr. Broshear failed to read the entire thread? (follow the yellow brick road.) Post #4 - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/174853-best-alternative-to-wud-outdated/#entry1112926 ...points to... Post #602 - www.msfn.org/board/topic/139877-post-sp1-updates-for-windows-7-updated-25032015/#entry1109454 ...points to (bphlpt)... www.msfn.org/board/topic/139877-post-sp1-updates-for-windows-7-updated-25032015/#entry1100970 ...points to Wincert. Again, you have to be a Registered User on Wincert to access it. BUT it *is* the latest-greatest. The one on the WUD website *is* old and is NO FREAKING GOOD!!!! DO NOT USE THE ULZ FROM THE WUD WEBSITE! USE THE ONE LINKED ABOVE AND REGISTER TO GET IT! (Boy, I'm tired of saying this...) (And apologies for the CAPS!!!!) Thanks, PinkFreud. I guess that link will have to be repeatedly embedded?
  25. If this is truly working - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171482-get-windows-xp-x86-to-recognize-more-than-4gb-with-pae/#entry1115797 ...then a good nLite add-on would indeed be nice, thus integrating into a Clean Install (if possible). Side note - No, I have *not* tried it yet, but will at first opportunity. FWIW, *if* you can locate a Server2k3 ISO (I believe Standard Trial may be found on the Web Archive direct from MS) then all that would be needed would be to slip SP's and all Updates to get the latest/greatest of said files (legally).
