  1. The best I have found for data recovery for all types of files is the R-Studio program. I have tested it on every type of file and it will recover IF you have not written to the disk. If you have written to the disk than you will lose some data but not all. R-Studio is not free but it is less than having to have somebody do it. http://www.r-studio.com/ jd
  2. Check and make sure your monitor cable is plugged in all the way. Don't just look at it and assume. Firmly grasp it and push it into the socket. If that does not work try a different monitor if available. I have seen where the vga connector LOOKED like it was securely connected when in fact it was not. jd
  3. The VMware player WILL NOT allow you to CREATE. As was posted above, use the MS VirtualPC to create your image then use the VMware Player to start your image. The player is only a player, not a creator and player. jd
  4. Sorry, but you can still get the OEM version. http://www.google.com/search?q=+Microsoft+...:en-US:official jd
  5. I think you need a serious upgrade on the Video Card. With the ATI cards they produce more heat than the Nvidia based cards. I know my HTPC was puking all over the place with one. Replaced it with a Nvidia 64 meg job and everything went smooth, and the temps dropped. I have always liked the ATI stuff but when that happened to my HTPC I started switching over to the Nvidia based stuff. Go with something with say 256 megs of ram and you shouldn't have any problems. jd
  6. I agree with ripken204 about the clicking noise. You really don't need a fancy all whistles and bells power supply. A good 350 watt P.S. will do just fine with a surge protector. This way not only will you be protecting the computer, but also your monitor, printer or any other Computer Peripherals. Here's a link to a 430 watt P.S. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817153023 P.S. Good to see you didn't fry yourself with the caps jd
  7. Clear the following. To do this close IE/Firefox, and go to the start menu. Find your Explorer button and drill down to where you see the same as what is in the image attached. Open each of the folders and delete everything. PLEASE note that this will also clear any internet sites you have recently been to. This will also make IE rebuild it's index file. In Firefox (GREAT Program), while in Explorer goto 1st image attached is Firefox Directory. FIREFOX ONLY C:\Documents and Settings Your user account "what ever name you use on your system." Application Data Mozilla Firefox Profiles 0utmn4tc.default "This will will have a different name on your system." Delete the following files. history cookies Internet EXPLORER ONLY temporary internet files cookies history And I would recommend doing a spyware, adware, virus scan on your entire system. I saw somewhere on the web somebody was having problems getting certain pages to load up. He was recommended to do a scan of his system which he did and found lot's of spyware and 2 trojans. Good Luck jd

  15. Program is Meedio. It's a Home Theatre program like MCE but better. I would much rather do it from a batch file, as all other apps and installs are already in that format. The people of that software were bought out by Yahoo (CRAP). I'll try that, THANKS. I saw your post on another thread about that and thought YA that's it. Tried it and no go. I'll try that to. Thanks for all the tips on this issue so far. I just really find it hard to believe that this program Meedio will not install until the full desktop is loaded or so it appears that way. Anyway Thanks Again for the tips and the ones I haven't tried I will give it a shot. Thanks jd
  16. Everyone, Well my UA install is working fine for everything but one program. Which apparently need to install after the login and desktop are fully loaded. I have tried Runonce and Guirunonce with same problem. But after everything is done loading up I can install it with no problem at all. So is there a way of getting this file to load and install after the requirements of login and desktop are FULLY loaded?? I have also tried with the user startup folder with the same results. I have searched the forums fo the better part of today looking for an answer but couldn't find one. TIA jd
  17. The commands NoWaitAfterTextMode = 1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1 Are there so instead of the computer waiting to reboot. It does it instantly, if I remember correctly. Don't have my notes in front of me. Let me see if I can't find verification on it. Found it here. http://www.svrops.com/svrops/documents/ntunattend.htm Scroll towards the bottom. It's right after this. Explanation of some not so obvious keys in unattend.txt jd
  18. OK this has had me ROFLMAO for a LONG time. But believe me I work for a semiconductor manf. and we actually have people that are that way repairing equipment. These people are given the job title of Tech/jr. Eng. Once they do something like this they are moved to management . Guess that's why I don't get promoted . I am constantly cleaning these guys F*** UP's every day. So everyday for me is a laughing matter . Sad for the equipment and company as I still wonder how they operate this way. They have even told the manufacturers of some equipment that they (The Co. I work with) that they could do better than the manufacturer. This has brought a smile to my face during meetings with vendors. jd
  19. I coul;d be wrong, but it looks as the " " around the "yes" could be causing problems. Here's a sample of my data and Unattended section. Note: I have AutoPartition turned off. [Data] Autopartition = 0 MsDosInitiated = 0 UnattendedInstall = Yes [Unattended] UnattendMode = FullUnattended UnattendSwitch = No OemPreinstall = No OemSkipEula = Yes FileSystem = * WaitForReboot = No NoWaitAfterTextMode = 1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1 DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore Hibernation = No jd

  21. Hello Everyone Hopefully someone can help here. I'm trying to get networking to work inside of either Virtual PC or VMware and am failing to do so. With the original NON-Nlited version I can get networking to respond and after Nlite nothing network wise will work. I know it is something I have done with Nlite so I have attached my last session for troubleshooting. I am not sure which of the network files I have pulled from the original disk that could be causing this. TIA jd
  22. Computerman, The best thing to do for watching TV is to buy the Hauppauge PVR 250 or the PVR-150. Here is a list from Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....&SubCategory=47 If you are wanting to watch TV then very few Home Theatre packages well work with a "SOFTWARE ENCODER" style tuner. The Hauppauge cards are Hardware and will work with everything out there for watching TV. This particular tuner you will find on every HTPC board as just about the defacto standard. I know what you are after as I have the NX6600GT which has VIVO "Video-In/Video-Out. I am still working on getting it to work with a software package such as MCE, Media Portal, Meedio and the rest of them. So that I can encode 5.1 Dolby movies on HBO, Showtime and the rest. jd Home Theatre System MOBO: Abit AN7 CPU: AMD 3200XP RAM: 512 Megs Ram Vid. Capture: PVR 250 VGA: MSI NX6600GT ViVo DVD Player: Sony DDU1615 OS:XP SP2 APP/SW: myHTPC/Meedio 1.38 DirectTV: RCA 486 Satellite Reciever MITSUBISHI WS-A55
  23. It won't work, no matter how much you want it too period. Unless you enjoy the sadomasochist way of watching smoke come out of the chip. The pinout for voltages and signals are way different and that's not even counting the timing speed of the card. Look below.
