i need help! my computer has gone nuts!

it randomly frezzes---annoying

spyware programs download themselves---annoying

and the most annoying thing, i get porno poppus through internet explore and i never use internet explore, i use mozilla firefox, and it says "want s*x in ______?" ___ meaning my city, how does it know my city? i need help!

It seems you have spyware and maybe viruses.

Can you tell me, are you running a virus scanner and do you have an anti-spyware software installed?

If you don't then advise you to do the following.

Anti-Virus

Download Nod32, you can get a trial from their website Here. Then update it and run a full scan. Deleted anything you find and then see if the pop-ups are still coming back.

If they are you might have spyware so to combat that you will need to download Spybot Search and Destroy

First, go to the site and download the program, it's free and can be downloaded Here

Then update it to it's latest version and then do a full scan and remove the entries.

Do that first and come back to me and tell me if you are still having a problem.

You've got two choices depending on how bad the situation is and how much time you want to put into it.

A - Download malware cleaners and try to clean your system from all the crap that's on it.

B - Reinstall Windows and make sure that this doesn't happen again.

Yes, do as Zxian suggested. You may also want to read the sticky in this forum. Download the Anti-Malware Professional package and clean your PC as per the PC Maintenance guide.

I would agree with all that has been mentioned, but their are some viruses and mal-ware that will not be removed so easly, it may be a tough fight, i would actuall y just recommend a simple format and reinstall, and make sure you have a anti-virus, firewall, and spybot.

Removed a few somewhat off-topic posts. This user needs to have help with their PC freezes and malware problems. Not a browser debate. Help is always appreciated, but too much will overwhelm the user who seeks assistance. Please focus on the problem the user is having. Fixing that should always come first, then you can suggest alternatives.

A format is always the last resort as their is always a way to clean and remove viruses and malware from an infected system.

Unfortunately this is not true. XoftSpy has been listed on Spyware Warrior before. The note on it still exists:

Note on XoftSpy: XoftSpy was listed on this page because of concerns with false positives (1, 2, 3, 4), questionable license terms, and the use of aggressive, deceptive advertising (1, 2), including exploitation of the name "spybot" by affiliates. Earlier versions of XoftSpy were also Ad-aware knockoffs. (There was clone of XoftSpy named SpyBurn, but that application is no longer available.)

Over the past few months, XoftSpy has taken aggressive steps to reign in its affiliates (who were primarily responsible for the unsavory advertising), revised its license text, and released a new version of XoftSpy (version 4.0) that addresses our concerns with false positves. Given these changes we can no longer regard XoftSpy as "rogue/suspect" anti-spyware.
