  1. Yea, I think Qt 5 is incompatible with Vanilla Windows 2000. The last versions of Qupzilla and Dooble browser to work on W2k were Qt4-based both are now Qt 5.
  2. For Vanilla NT 4 (If you ever need to browse the internet on NT 4 for any reason) The most suitable modern web browser for a Vanilla NT 4 is QTWeb 3.8.4 Here's something to resolve programs which won't display errors despite not working, ImportPatcher.41
  3. List of software I would recommend -Google Chrome 13 or earlier, maybe experiment with BWC's older Chrome tool. Apparently this once even worked on 9x w/ KernelEx, sadly it's unknown which version allowed Google Chrome to run and which version. -Dooble Browser 1.4.0 (Last version working with w2k, Qt4 based) -Qupzilla 1.6.6 or earlier (Qt4)
  4. Dibya, is there anything I can do to help? :3 (If only I knew how to code T_T) I'm just plain guessing here, but in theory isn't it possible to backport a driver by converting certain coding using an older program software which only leaves dependencies for older OSes?
  5. Dude, could you lay off? I'm [and a bunch of people are] perfectly fine with him posting browsers that work with the extended kernel and others may need one day. Windows XP is only becoming more and more obsolete as the years pass and eventually could end up being a hassle to browse modern websites like 9x and 2000. And Dibya, don't listen to those who are discouraging you! Your kernel extension is one-of-a-kind and will be a lifesaver in the future!
  6. Can't believe how mainstream people believe older operating systems are more vulnerable than the ones now xD Even the latest viruses often won't work on a fresh SP3 install because the developer is too lazy to make it XP compatible! A single missing dependency negates the "hard work" of these developers I'll never forget the day launching 50+ viruses on W2K, without a single one working :3
  7. Here you go https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=47505 I made a topic here on MSFN, but it was locked...and I updated the download.
  8. What a pathetic excuse of an OS... Is a lightweight operating system that will run with somewhat older machines too much to ask for?
  9. Add this to the list -Qupzilla 2.0.1 (Last version that works on XP, not officially supported) -Waterfox (64 bit web browser for XP, however hasn't been properly worked with XP for a while) Needs to be tested: Firefox Clones -Comondo Dragon Chromium Clones -Maxthon (Based off chromium 47 I think) -UC Browser (Chromium based, unsure which version its based off of though) -Yandex Browser -Torch Browser -Vivaldi <1.0 (Worked on both XP and Vista) -Pale Moon 26.5.0 -Dooble Browser -Otter Browser (XP version) I tried to install Midori on my XP, but it failed.
  10. Sorry, I honestly don't know how the card exactly works...on the vogons.org forum I searched for help and assisted a few to install 9x on a D600. One of the members brought up he "broke down and paid for the patch" then mentioned the fix for the boot failure. How to enable ACPI after installation
  11. Welp, thanks for the links. Turns out my cord was twisted too much and broken...
  12. I've been having issues with PROBL3MCHYLD's SP3 as well...instead, I would recommend using auto patcher for updating Windows 98. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Auto-patcher-for-Windows-98SE.shtml
  13. I know of one solution, but it requires rloew's ram limitation patch..."run the command line option with "/M" with the patch as the Network card takes up the first 16mb of ram which causes boot failures." This card isn't the best for use on 9x due to being meant for W2K and later, but its probably the only option for WPA2 (If you use odyssey client) Make sure to enable ACPI once everything is setup if you want Win98 to display a battery meter
  14. My charger does indeed work (tested it on another dell, my e4310 model) and is actually a genuine dell. I disassembled the laptop to look inside and see the jack. I've read there might be pins which determine if the charger is genuine? Could I in theory manually have the pin moved to ensure the laptop always reads an ac adapter as genuine? Haven't doen research yet, at school atm EDIT: Searched a bit What I've found Modding the bios (although there doesn't seem to be any modded bios) Opening up the charger's power supply (not recommended) Link you gave me I just learned Dell is pretty lousy...
  15. My Dell Latitude D600 suddenly decided my Dell AC Adapter isn't genuine despite being used for nearly a year now, like the title says my battery cannot be charged because the system claims its not genuine and performance is throttled because of it. Are there any fixes to this?
  16. I don't believe so. Its been happening to me all year around.
  17. I've been experiencing this stupid issue on Windows 10 as well. My computer using wireless loses its connections for moments daily, its annoying because it NEVER happened on my unstable Windows 98 (or any other operating system, including Linux) installations...
  18. Symbols FREE $$$ - Warez OS - Open Source CS - Closed Source Code Editors Windows 95 Windows 98 $$$ Qt 4.4.3 Compilers Windows 95 FREE Python 2.7 (python27.lib) C++ OpenWatcom 1.9 Windows 98/ME TDM-GCC 5.1.0-3 Does not work in 9x, but can produce compatible programs Visual Studio 2005 For beginners: Windows 9x uses C# and C++ I'll continuously update this topic as time goes by. I still need to add programming languages, open source, wares, etc.
  19. Title says it all. My Dell Latitude D600 laptop is refusing to show battery level despite not even being on an AC Adapter. I went to the Power Option Properties in the control panel, but still no change. Am I missing a dll file? Once I had this issue installing XP on the same computer, but fixed it by downloading the missing dll file and placing it in the right system folder. Edit: This this ACPI that's missing? Edit 2: Googled a bit and found lack of ACPI is the issue. Enable/Disable ACPI Enabling/ Disabling - The following instructions will allow enable ACPI with Windows 98: To enable ACPI after Windows 98 is installed, run Regedit and go to the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Detect Create a new DWORD value called "ACPIOption" and set it equal to 1. In Control Panel, run Add New Hardware and choose hardware detection. ACPI should be detected and installed. After the system is rebooted, all ACPI-enumerated devices will be set up again. You don't need to insert your cd, just direct the driver finder to C:/win98
  20. Once I tried running a virus on Windows 2000 SP4 (I think I also had BWC's kernel32 extension) and every single virus failed xD Not ONE out of 60+ viruses it attempted to install worked! Missing dependencies and windows version check was too much for it Most virus writers want to do as little work as possible, they're not gonna bother with legacy systems
  21. Just hopping on. Windows 10 gave me another issue of its start menu turning completely black if you tried to search anything. Found a workaround; install classic shell.
  22. Just dropping by Man XP is so much more efficient with my T7200 processor than 7 could ever be. My 9 cell battery has ALMOST 4 hours with xp, the battery life is about an hour shorter on 7. My only issue is watching html videos on kissanime, but I haven't checked the thread addressing this yet.
  23. This I think I may can confirm Windows 98SE doesn't crash with more than 512MB of ram on physical hardware (Dell Latitude D600 has 1gb ram) although I wouldn't recommend going over 512mb, it might be the reason 98SE and ME are so unstable on the laptop...
  24. I quickly determined it by looking here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Latitude#D-Family Ah, it looks like I made another mistake (darn it, I'm on a streak of mistakes). Didn't check closely enough if the D410's video driver was 98 friendly... Actually there are drivers for the 900 series (910, 915, and 925) if I'm not mistaking https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/14713/Chipset-INF-Update-Utility-for-848-865-875-910-915-925-Chipset-Based-Intel-Desktop-Boards Correct me if I'm wrong
  25. When I get the chance I will, Windows 98SE loves giving me problems all the time and ruined my dualboot because I reinstalled 98...need to fix it atm
