  1. I am not talking about the ones we all know, but I am seeking one that will heavily compress files. I know my expectations are probably unrealistic, but I would like to ask before giving up. Is there a utility that could potentially compress a 1gb file all the way down to 100mb or less? Thank you!
  2. I tried the newest KernelEx version. K-Meleon appears more stable than I remember with this version. Unfortunately, I still need to disable javascript to prevent the browser from crashing. Also, I'm not sure if the new KernelEx update damaged my WinME installation in my VMWare. Suddenly, I could not drag files to the guest, file transfers by shared folders, flash drives would not appear, and cds would fail. Reinstalling VMWare tools did not help.
  3. Edit: I am trying to find the TTS program Kolfix. The web links to the site are either down or gone and the web archive isn't helping my case. EDIT 2: Searching for Microsoft Simplified Chinese Male SAPI5; still searching EDIT 3: I've been collecting free TTS voices in languages around the world and testing them. I just downloaded this Bengali TTS voice and am finding there's issues with it on my Windows 10 computer. While it can try speaking English the best it can, the TTS voice does not recognize Bengali script. I'm probably wrong, but do they use another alphabet for their language??? In the case of Mongolian TTS, I had to use Cyrillic script because the TTS did not recognize traditional script.
  4. In my experience, VMWare workstation works best at emulating Windows 9x. VirtualBox is great because it's free, but I could not get the internet to work and the screen resolution cannot stretch fully to fit my resolution. VMWare workstation accomplishes this better. The only downside is that it costs money and it's bloated compared to the others...my AIO desktop cannot properly use VMWare without constant lags, so I'm forced to use a gaming laptop.
  5. A bit late, but are there any limitations to the free version? I'm looking for something similar to IDM...
  6. Are the driver's installed? If it's 9x compatible, it should come with its own wireless utility. If the driver is installed, try clearing out specific parts of the register (I forget which) to rid Odyssey Client's view. I once had this issue and had to delete something because reinstalling didn't fix it. Less likely, but if you're using a Dell Latitude D600 by chance, the card bus slotson those things are faulty and the majority of them break.
  7. Couldn't find mercury's post, so here you go! https://ufile.io/jlxbf
  8. Provide the hardware IDs if you can! It will help us search for the drivers of your card!
  9. I did not get the chance to test any of these wireless managers, but the older odyssey client you linked appears to be exclusive to only specific cards... Darn, is finding WPA2 for Windows 95 impossible?
  10. Darn, I gotta test this later. Odyssey Client did mention Funk and was owned by Juniper until 2015. This post looks promising This version of Odyssey Client appears universal but lacks WPA2. It's definitely older than version 3.1. Not 95-compatible though.
  11. During my little journey in failing to find a version of Odyssey Client older than 3.0, I still found some great finds. WLAN Expansion 2.0 Advanced Wifi Manager https://wi-py-wireless-network-management.soft112.com/ ManageEngine WiFi Manager 5.6 Easy WiFi Radar 1.0.2 (Compatible with even WinNT 3.x and 98, 95 support unspecified...1.0.5 version here) LucidLink WiFi Client 2.2 (WPA2 for Windows 2000) Once I get enough free time, I'll try testing these to see if any of them are 9x-compatible, most of them claim to hold Windows 2000-compatibility Now Windows 2000 users are no longer restricted to Boingo Wireless for WPA2 ^o^ Would it honestly be difficult to program our own wireless network manager for Windows 9x? Last year, I recall a user that did do the task, but it did not detect cards correctly. He pretty much disappeared afterward. The software was also lost in the crash.
  12. Alright, this is what I found. I believe it's just a trial. I did not get to even test it yet, so feel free to put in on your Windows 95 Virtual Machine. Keep in mind this version does not yet support WPA2. https://anonfile.com/e8I4c2v7b4/Odyssey_CLIENT_3_zip
  13. I'll be honest. I do have a version 3.0 of Odyssey Client, but I'm not sure if sharing it would be legal... Its document says 98 is the minimal requirement, nvm...boingo wireless never had a 95-compatible version according to the archive. Also, Buffalo Manager has versions down to 1.0 that could work (I'm not sure which year they were created though).
  14. It's time MSFN users experience their own live chats when they need it. PM's and forum replies just aren't always efficient enough! I aim to create a discord replica of MSFN right here! https://discord.gg/ezvJmgH
  15. A bit late, but has anyone managed to test this browser on vanilla w2k?
  16. I am sure the porting is possible. It's not an easy job! Examples of browsers that successfully ported a newer version of Chrome back to XP are Advanced Chrome (54), Chedot (51?; can't remember), Citro (52?), and Slimjet (50) Advanced Chrome is also open source
  17. I've been experimenting a bit using Paint.NET. It's been pretty fun, I hope to one day become capable of creating fun remixes of the logo. https://imgur.com/a/cZIrOaa https://imgur.com/a/1fQ7CG5
  18. It seems KernelEx may have broken something in my Windows 98SE installation. The folders will not display anything despite setting them to view everything. I had to install total commander to get around this problem. EDIT: NVM I just had to set the view to icons xD K-Meleon does work with the new updates and no longer gives the .db file error (tested on vmware).
  19. Is there a version that doesn't cost money? Finding a link to it alone seems difficult...
  20. This is a Windows 9x topic, I use XDM for XP and later.
  21. Title pretty much says it all, as usual. I am seeking a program similar to Star Downloader or IDM, except the program is completely free, has good browser compatibility, and preferably works on even Windows 95 systems. Older computers need a little boost to keep up with modern file sizes these days...
  22. I finally got time to test this newer version of KernelEx...hmmm, something's not right. I originally installed KernelEx 4.5.2 + v18 updates (I made sure to mix the v18 updates with a folder of updates up to v17). Once Windows rebooted, it gave me an error message that the drivers cannot be found. KernelEx gives me the newer options, but only resets after being applied... I am also installing this on Windows ME
  23. Title says it all. I am looking for software so I can read epub books on my ancient Dell Latitude D600 w/ Windows ME. I've heard of Balabolka, but there is no information available of the last version to officially work on Windows 9x (I'm also unsure if the program included epub support as well before support was ended)
  24. Does anybody know some good older devices still supported by modern websites? I'm hoping to find a decent useragent string to spoof my browser with. Web pages will likely render better under the impression the device is a low-end android phone.
