  1. How's everything doing in France? I've heard people were not happy with the new labor reforms, refugee violence is still happening, and is rioting is happening. Is rioting common there?
  2. Haven't used my Windows ME for a few weeks Windows 98SE - Hangs at DOS screen, claiming to boot to windows 98; doesn't reach splash screen. Windows ME - Hangs at the Windows ME screen. The loading bar still moves, but it does not ever boot to windows and stays stuck on the splash screen. I believe my Dell Latitude D600 isn't set to boot from USB, maybe I'll check soon
  3. The tool changes the Windows Registry which fools software into thinking its running on the selected OS How to use: NNN4NT5.cab>NNN4NT5>Then select a destination for the file (I prefer desktop for convenience unless you prefer somewhere else)>Open the exe file and change registry! Warning: Set the registry back to Vista before turning off! Otherwise Windows won't boot properly!
  4. Try using this instead! http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1925971.html Direct Download: Here Try fooling the application into thinking you're using Windows XP or 7 completely with this! (Thank you Dibya!) In my experience using compatibility made some cases worse for me on Windows 7 if I remember correctly (Installing old games like Theme Hospital) Haven't tested it on an OS other than Vista 2000, but it should work! IMPORTANT! SET BACK OS BACK TO VISTA OTHERWISE WINDOWS WON'T BE ABLE TO BOOT PROPERLY! THE BOOTER WILL BE CONFUSED!!!
  5. Let's see: Out of 8 computers I know of that ran Windows 10, only 2 of 8 work properly and those two computers contain an ssd... I've talked to online players in video games, one person I know says it works fine with his regular hard drive. Three others said it sucks... So... 3 out of 12 computers w/ Windows 10 work properly ._.
  6. Sigh, this is quite embarrassing as I cannot seem to figure out how to install this darn extension Okay, I've managed to install it once but sadly that installation was destroyed after I tried to install Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 SP1 as an experiment. When the laptop was booted up after installing Virtual PC 2004 SP1, a driver included had screwed something up resulting in the blue screen of death every time I booted up the laptop. Being lazy, I decided to just reinstall Windows 2000. It seems I was just lucky the Kernel32 extension would work last time or god somehow came into my room and did everything for me when I wasn't looking. Okay enough of that, I just had to vent a bit... For the extension I need... KB2722913 (Internet Explorer 6 security update) The Kernel Extension, which is this one right? English(v2.8d) Windows2000-KB935839-v28d-x86-ENU.EXE Blackwingcat told me: "You should install QFE version IE6 SP1 Update : P http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1710658.html Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer] "QFEInstalled"=dword:00000001 Set the following registry and install Security update." I went onto the link and became very confused...where is the download link to the required security update? Let me know the download locations and please correct me if I'm wrong! Thank you!
  7. Welp, I found out the weirdest thing ever: Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.23 works on Windows ME!!! Despite not being officially supported and meant for Windows 2000 or later, it will still allow you to install it! Its good enough for Minecraft to even open and run! xD Too bad Windows 9x hardware will never be powerful enough to even get past the start menu of Minecraft! T_T Probably doesn't effect if the installation works or not; my Windows ME had all official updates via SP1 and Netframework 2 installed If I constantly maximize then minimize the Minecraft window after constantly clicking, it appears to be forcing Minecraft to progress instead of being nearly frozen!
  8. I don't believe so, this is a very common issue...
  9. Does anyone know of a solution to this issue? My Dell Latitude D600 lacks a ps2 port for any ps2 mice which results in system hang if I forget to unplug my usb mouse. Tested with both Windows 98SE and ME. What causes this to happen?
  10. UURollup Windows2000-UURollup-v11-d20141130-x86-ENU breaks the laptop's ability to use the wireless adapter meant for vanilla Windows 2000 on my physical laptop, also breaking the ability to copy and paste, drag and drop. The control panel ends up looking funny and requires to be scrolled no matter what size the window is, many options and icons won't even appear. IKR, I had to reinstall my wireless adapter at least 3 times before it worked! I really don't wanna have to end up reinstalling Windows 2000 for the 4th or 5th time in 2 days x_x I'll try system restore first then show it. Is there any recording software or something similar to snipping/page caturing for Windows 2000?
  11. I found out this happens because of installing the last daily urollup (or whatever its called)...the updates causes weird issues from drag and drop, copy, and pasting not working, and even windows the control panel permanently windowed even if I full sized the window... Which is the last safe rollup to use?...I can't figure out how to install blackwingcat's kernel32 x_x
  12. This seems to be an odd issue... Welp, Windows 2000 has always been a pain to setup on my laptop due to certain drivers not always properly working after installation. Suddenly my laptop is unable to copy and paste anymore, drag and drop doesn't work, copy/cut and paste doesn't work as well. Any solutions? Trying to copy/cut then paste won't even affect my right-click options! The desktop acts as if I had never done so! I really don't wanna have to reinstall Windows 2000, upgrade to sp4, install the programs, etc again
  13. There's already like a billion possible ways mankind can kill itself from a plant being so strong that we won't have anything else to each, nuclear destruction, and even artificial black holes! Hey, we're even expected to be hit by earthquakes which could cause fatal tsunami's, meteors strong enough like theorized to kill the dinosaurs, a magnetic switch, maybe even a black hole nearby our galaxy, moon's size, our genetics becoming weird, mass animal deaths, another possible ice age, disease, ozone layer destruction/greenhouse effect, Gamma-ray bursts, and Super-Volcano's. I wouldn't worry too much, just prepare as much as possible
  14. Yikes, if this is true, I really hope scientists don't act like id*** and try to continue this process. Otherwise the whole human race is gonna be exterminated eventually xD
  15. Can any administrators edit this topic and update it? Someone made another mini list of updated software not so long ago, but it seems to have gotten lost...
  16. Seems like Vista is more than capable of running Chrome 51, there's just something that needs to be removed from chrome that blocks it xD I hate manual OS blocking...its literally the only reason Word 2013 (And maybe later) is blocked on Vista ;( I'm curious: If Chrome is fooled into thinking Vista is 7, would we have any luck or nah?
  17. Tried that one before and it didn't give any option of KGB Thank you <3 worked!
  18. Let's see... 1 back in 2009 back when I played RS (I quit long ago) 1 in 2012 when I was obsessed with a Minecraft server called "Mineplank" owned by ImJustPro Had an Enjin account for Minecraft, which joined two communities Another Minecraft server forum in 2013 (I trolled a lot and almost got banned, somehow I didn't because the admins either found my behavior amusing or were too lazy) BleepingComputer - Attempted to find a forum with Windows 9x support. The 9x section was too inactive for my liking MSFN - 2015, finally found a nice Windows related forums with Windows 9x discussion and others. Vogons - Joined there in a desperate attempt to get Windows 9x working on a Dell Latitude D600 In total...8
  19. I installed KGB Archiver a while back, hoping to compress files then I learned it wasn't possible without damaging the files so I uninstalled it. Like the title says, whenever I right click, I still get the option "Compress to KGB" How can I remove this? I tried reinstalling and uninstalling again, but that didn't work
  20. Is there a way to modify the file to work on Vista? The same thing can be done with Windows 2000 only wireless adapters to Windows 9x IF there are no missing dependencies! (And those two use different kernels!) According to Dibya there are 20 or so less files in Vista than in 7, there maybe a good chance it would work without the OS blocker
  21. Sorry I cannot read Japanese, only a bit of Chinese characters so I maybe able to get some basic ideas at best. (Note: I'm a weeaboo teenager so don't count on me...)
  22. Its not a very good idea to install Windows 7 on 2003/2004 laptops lol... I mean it will still work properly, only issue is that Windows 7 is way too bloated compared to Windows 2000. A Latitude D800 can only support up to 2gb of ram (Which is not very good for Windows 7!). Is your only intention to use the internet? Windows 7 will work fine if that's the case (If you have at least 1gb of ram). Why not stay with 2000? Its faster, works fine with 1gb ram and with blackwingcat's kernel extension, can run many of the latest web browsers!
  23. Would changing registry info do anything? If firefox thinks the OS is XP shouldn't it automatically update? If someone uses a unsupported firefox version on Windows 9x via kernelex, I believe firefox can still read that its running on Windows 9x therefore preventing automatic updating.
  24. I can help you with mostly software (I'm way too new to hardware. Only worked with laptops...) For Virtual CD/DVD: its called mounting. I recommend This program for mounting ISO's (Virtual Clone Drive, ignore the warnings of unwanted software. I didn't get a virus from it) USB: Windows 98SE has this for usb. I'm not aware what a firewire is...(Beware, Windows 9x appears to hang if a USB is plugged in during boot!)
  25. Tsundere-Chan, you need a profile picture! I'm a bit confused after reading everything; did you manage to install Windows 7? If you have a hard time finding drivers; Offline driverpacks are a good gamble! Install software to mount the ISO (recommend WinCDEmu or something simple) I would recommend downloading samsdrivers, after downloading put it on your flash drive! (It will need at least 11gb of space!) It may contain some Russian or certain text may come up funny after mounting it, but do not worry! Click snappy driver installer, then continue! Its your best bet if not using an online driverpack!
