  1. The LTSB version of Windows 10 1507 will be supported for 10 years, is stated on https://blog.juriba.com/windows-10-branching-timeline Maybe it is possible to download the LTSB updates from the Update Catalog and install them on Home & Pro versions? We will see after May 9. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4015562/windows-10-version-1507-will-no-longer-receive-security-updates Source: https://blog.juriba.com/windows-10-branching-timeline
  2. Hello everyone, Right now, I am using Windows 10 1507 on my PC. The enterprise version of this OS is part of the LTSB branch. Will this mean that build 10240 will get updates for a long time (10 years or something like that), or does it mean that I have to upgrade to 14393 (1607) LTSB to get updates? If 10240 is indeed getting updates for years, maybe we are able to download them from the Update Catalog, and also install them on Home & Pro versions. If this is working, we don't have to upgrade to the latest build of Windows 10 all the time. Thanks.
  3. Great news, Microsoft did the same with Windows Server 2008, they extended the support to match the support of Windows Server 2008 R2.
  4. If I am going to downgrade to Windows Vista/7/8.1 (what I will do), I am sure it will feel like I am upgrading
  5. Ok, I tried Windows 10 for a few weeks as my daily driver, and I am DONE. I know I use an old PC with old compontents, but the complete OS became unresponsible to be, two times. The only solution: force reboot with power button. I have never seen that with Windows XP, 7 or 8, those OSes don't have any problem with my PC. What's next? THIS: http://www.theverge.com/2017/3/9/14872464/windows-10-onedrive-ads-inside-file-explorer They put ads in the start menu, on the lock screen, and in the file manager?! And when you use Chrome or Firefox, Windows 10 is going to tell you Microsoft Edge is raster. They COMPLETELY lost their minds, I am done with Windows 10. When I've got enough time, I will downgrade to Windows Vista, 7 or 8.1, anything better than this OS. (Which is becoming a service full of ads with 2 updates every year which break your system).
  6. Hello, does anyone know a good VPN service, which is using a protocol supported by Windows 95/98SE/ME? I am now using AirVPN, which only has OpenVPN, which doesn't support Windows 9x. Thanks
  7. Does someone have a Windows 8 Developer Preview, Windows Vista Aero and/or Windows Vista Basic themeatlas?
  8. The fix for Windows Update on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 can be found on this page: http://wu.krelay.de/en/ It worked for me on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 x64 (My daily OS). But for Windows Vista, nothing seems to fix it... Also, many software is ending support for Vista and XP at the same time, Google did it with Chrome and Mozilla with Firefox. I believe the reason of Mozilla ending Firefox XP and Vista support is because they want to use the Chrome (Not supported on XP and Vista) sandbox feature in Firefox.
  9. Mmmh, didn't notice that, it was a long day
  10. Thank you very much! Thats exactly the installer I was looking for! Yes, I read it somewhere. But I believe Microsoft already removed the offline installers, and the online installers will stop to work, just like the 2009 installers did. Mmmh, as far as I know, Windows Live Essentials 2011 doesn't work on Windows XP, and requires Windows Vista or above. Does Microsoft Security Essentials still update definitions? Edit: Found offline installers for Windows Live Essentials 2012 here: http://www.askvg.com/official-links-to-download-windows-live-essentials-wave-4-beta-full-standalone-offline-installer/
  11. Isn't it possible to copy AVRT.dll from Windows 7 to Windows Vista?
  12. Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I am looking for the Dutch offline installers of Windows Live Essentials for Windows XP (2009?) and Windows Vista (2011) Does anybody know where I can find them? Microsoft deleted the software from their website, which is no suprise because it's Microsoft Thanks
  13. I assume the 100k fine won't happen to us, because we're not in a company and Premier Support is only for a company.
  14. I wonder why the POSReady hack still works, because some companies need to pay Microsoft for Windows XP updates, which is strange because there is a free method.
  15. On my PC, there was only 1 preference false: media.gmp.decoder.enabled All of the rest were true, and I was not able to find this one: media.gmp-eme-adobe.forceSupported youtube.com/html5 says I don't have h.264 and MSE. Edit: It works, I had to add media.gmp-eme-adobe.forceSupported myself. Thanks for this topic! Got YouTube HTML5 HD to work
  16. So how is everyone doing? Still using XP as main OS? And now that Mozilla announced that Firefox supported will end (ESR until 2018) are you going to switch?
  17. The Get Windows 10 app will be removed after installing update KB3184143 https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-finally-removes-get-windows-10-app-windows-7-8-1-pcs/
  18. I am staying on Windows 8.1. The interface of Windows 8.1 responds so much faster than the inteface on Windows 10. Also, I don't like Windows Update on Windows 10, 2 big releases every year, and the settings are not as advanced as on Windows 8.1 and lower.
  19. Hi everyone, we have a great topic on this forum, with information about how we can avoid being upgraded to Windows 10. But the deadline is getting closer, so are you going to make use of the free upgrade to Windows 10 before the deadline, or are you going to stay with your current OS? Sorry for my bad English!
  20. The convenience update is only for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and from now on, Microsoft is going to release update rollups each month which includes the non-security updates. These update rollups will be available for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
  21. Yes, telemetry updates are included in the update rollup, which I don't want running on my system. For older systems, Windows 7 is still the most used OS, so I think most programs wil keep supporting Windows 7, and also Windows 8.1 for a few years. I don't think all Win32 apps are replaced by UWP apps anytime soon. Did Microsoft also release an update rollup for Windows 8.1?
  22. I read that the following updates are included: KB3068708 – “This update introduces the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to existing devices. By applying this service, you can add benefits from the latest version of Windows to systems that have not yet upgraded. The update also supports applications that are subscribed to Visual Studio Application Insights.” This update replaced KB3022345. KB3075249 – “This update adds telemetry points to the User Account Control (UAC) feature to collect information on elevations that come from low integrity levels.” KB3080149 – “This package updates the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to existing devices. This service provides benefits from the latest version of Windows to systems that have not yet upgraded. The update also supports applications that are subscribed to Visual Studio Application Insights.” Which means... wusa.exe /kb:3068708 /uninstall wusa.exe /kb:3075249 /uninstall wusa.exe /kb:3080149 /uninstall For GWX updates, I don't know if they are included...
  23. Hi, I had the same results, when looking for updates, as you. Except for the Flash update, I found KB3163207 instead of KB3157993. But KB3157993 also is a flash update, according to this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3157993 And it does work on Windows Server 2012. So this month, there are 2 updates available for Adobe Flash? This .NET updates I found: 3.5: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52196 4.5.2: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52189 4.6 & 4.6.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52135
  24. At the moment, I am using Windows 10 build 10240, 10240.16854 to be exact, which was released last week. On my system, it runs pretty stable, and I am not thinking about upgrading to 10586.318 anytime soon, because it works the same as an upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After such an upgrade, I like to reinstall the OS, which I am not going to do, because it requires much tweaking. But I wonder, for how long 10240 is going to get security updates.
