no they probably wont (and certainly not without pay) BUT, there are some ways, to try and fix this.. try to re-slipstream Service Pack 2, and perhaps RyanVM's Update pack, try to find out about your legal rights, (if im correct, your allowed to make backup-copies of your software for your own use - in nearly all of european countries. So in your case you might considder trying an alternative way to get your windows installation source, this is legal as long as you, use the exact same windows version, and same language. and your own private key works on the source files you'r about to use...

hmmm i recently bought an AMD Opteron dual core ... but i am almost sorry i did, as intel has released its Core 2 Duo chips, witch cost less, use less engergy (max 95wat instead of 110wat) and seam to be faster, but hey thats life at the time i desided to buy it (3 months ago, i didn't know yet that intell's core2 duo would be so cheap, so i just bought the best G*-d*mn cpu my budget could buy... the only thing left for me, now is buying extra cooler, and get some extra speed by overclocking to make up for my loss...

in a word No you have to understand that many aplications depend on stuf like drivers and system dll's for example apps like vertial cd or some Antivirus software will just NOT run.. a few Q's to think about when chosing your software for x64 is it at least 32bit (win32) software does it require modified drivers (for vertial hardware) does a search on google <app-name> + "windows xp 64" result in any usefull information...

i realy never ever heared of so mutch BS in my life.... i know there are lots of guys and girls who dont have the money for a better computer .... but thinking that 98 has a better HAL than for example windows 2k xp or vista is like saying that a toad will outrun an antilope or a sail plain wil better manourvre than an F15 tomcat.... windows 98 a 32 bit extention tot a 16bit implempentation of an 8 bit os that was initialy designed for a computer that didn't work for 1 bit????? ever tried multi-treaded aplications (true multi-treading like cad). ow yeah what happends if some extention card fails, hmmz whatsn't that somthing with a bleuscreen thingy ... now a GOOD os would just ignore and disable it if id wasn't part of the core req to run the os.... ow and yournaling FS right?????? thank god MS finaly stops wasting time on 98 suppport so we can finaly get faster response time for OS's that DO deserve it...

the only reason why anyone would want NT4 to be Nlited would be because of licencing stuf... as for example i myself dont have any windows server licence except for win NT4 (standard server). so maybe il to would be interested in nliting it.... but as its for realy only the few of us... i think that its not realy worth it .... i guess twaking and disabling services the Mircrosoft way is the best we can expect... maybe we could try a batch script to unload some dlls and disbable some stuf after install,

@Aegis. - it already is for both the Socket 940 and the AM2 board... but my choice either a conroe - or an opteron ("opteron isn't a desktop/game chip" yes i know, but opterons have way good results with OC'ing)...

prob with the kentsfield is that it wil be 2 dual core cpu's on a chip. and even though they are baking these coockies on 65nm process i cant emagine them having a verry low TDP (max power / heat usage) and another problem, WILL be that the S771 board still use the external mem controller. thus i wonder if its bus to the System ram wont be a botleneck another ting is that is good for a 4way server but not for an 8way... als intels current implementation to CPU-linking isn't that good... and certianly not compared to AMD-K8L / K9 that maybe already will support HyperTransport III

thats not entirely true, as Kernel mode (run as system service) oculd also do the trick... a simple jepeg bug could than be Extremely Critical .... one way of prenting this COULD be lying in the UEFI (if im correct) standard. for example it could be possible to tell the BIOS chip how many Vertial Instances the cpu is allowed to handle.... even though this may require a reboot with every new-installed OS-instance it would help...

yes apache WILL run well in windows 2000 (you might want to consideer Nliting windows 2k first (and use hfslip or gurgelmeyers sp5 to update it there are lots and lots of services you could remove to get it faster...

it works and thats about it... problem is when you would hit about 100 simultainious request for longer periods of time. i realy wonder if it would last for longer than 5mins... as im about sure windows would crash... id consider looking at somthing like D(anm) S(mall) L(inux) and installing a basic apache on it. as that would ABSOLUTELY be 1000% more stable..

for DDR400 S939 the opteron 185 its most powerful option and clock great to about 2.8 <-> 3,5 ghz. for DDRII - AM2 Mobo's you could wait for the Dual-socked option but remember that DD2 3xx / 4xx or 5xx is not that powerfull - and ddrII 800 is not just your avarage price... im curious though, what on earth ar you planning to do with it..

3.1 for workgroups doesn't exists there is only 3.11 for workgroeps. And 1.0 never released officialy (alread became 1.01 als first public version). ** wil try to find referals later on....
