  1. create a switchless installer, with 7zip, a howto is here on the forum, and than download for example one of the smallest packs - to have an example, offcaurce - if you had read the addon section listed on top of the page, - you wouldn't have wasted so many time... note that i deliberitly did NOT add any links to post, to enable people to use the forum's search function, the thing is though - that you not reading any guidelines is considered lazy and id***-ish, yet i wonder what people might think of me actually spending time on sutch.... - you really must have catched me on a verry friendly day,
  2. check if there is a seed - if not, just wait until there is, - (somebody probably me (if i still have the file), will seed it again, some point soon..
  3. i had the same problem, after manually installing sp2, (so its probably not an nlite thing) at some point i downloaded al standing updates, and that included a fix for the uu-somthing driver, after that, all was ok, IM not sure what the kb number was, comment on amd driver (that sucks,) is not a bigg deal check the size of the drivers - its hardly taking any space at all, (less than half mb afaik), ill have a closer look when i get time to automate my install,
  4. tried to add my reply but a huge browser crash made me think it might have send to the post data several time - but i hope not. (**** nightly's)
  5. xp what that, - no really but fair is fair, ive run my virusscanner at system level on ocation, and i hopped to it myself as well, but mainly i run at admin level, on linux on the other hand, i never run root, if i want to do any admin stuff, i SU myself....
  6. hi yall, what if change the PID of my XP Home UK OEM cdrom to the PID of an xp home NL OEM cdrom, so i can use (and activate), my dutch Product key on an english cdrom, or vista versa, ( i found it to be verry anoying to have some aplications in dutch and others in english - so if doable id rather have them all in english instead, (also for the intergration of update packs) any thoughts.
  7. use a decent image editor no really windows paint isn't one.... http://www.getpaint.net - <-- free - no warez i did it several times, - and if you dont know how - thair forum is the place to ask ...
  8. no i was talking about XN resource editor mentioned earlier in this thread, - he Opensourced his code and some api or classes - or how you may call it, anyway i send the guy an email at his public address, kindly askin for a command line version of his tool, also linking to xpize's webpage, i just hope he'll reply...
  9. there is also an Opensource app that has some classes (or api ) ... for kylix / delpi ... i checked the aplication and it looks good, but it lacks command line support (or at least documentation for its command structure...
  10. HUGE BUMP... sorry if i lost track for a while but must of my systems have been converted to other OS'es (away from having to buy non-student windows licences) at this point however i dedicated 1 single worstation as dual-boot windows (xp 64) and slackware-linux (a vista 32bit version may be added later) so i guess this topic is back in the picture.. for some reason it still hasn't come to a first x64 version, - lets hope there is stil intrest in sutch a version, with regards....
  11. at this point i think that nlite allready supports to many (tweaks) i would even go so far to say that ALL tweaks that do not specially relate to the Install Level of windows SHOULD NOT be there at all, for a small example, : define windir (YES) : Auto logon - (maybe - but probably yes), : hide my computer from desktop (definetly NO) why i say this, at some point it gets impossible to add them all, and at some point it should no longer be nuhi's job to track them and ad a shell around them ... i think that all those guys that have those kinds of websites with sometimes as mutch as a thousant of batch files and regfiles etc - to start finding a way into 1 simple aplication that can, add them all into a simple UI, (kinda like tweekui) ... but the output file should be 1 massive Batch file executiong register changes file moves - etc etc etc.... than its up to the end user to exec it right here on the pc) ... intergrate it on first run (nlite?) ... or send it to his friends.... or whatever it is he wants with it... that way we could ALL be happy....
  12. i an word - NOPE in 300pages (yet unwritten) documentation's view : yes but it wont be lovely... if you want a nice looking alternative shell, true geoshell or other like it, litestep perhaps, if you want windows aplications with a gnome filemanager use wine...
  13. i tend to dis-agree with this for a bit though... dont get me wrong the idea is perfect but id rather see using hfslip or maybe a derivative special to this project... step 1, slipstream usp5xxxxx.exe step 2, use hfslip for directx mdac mplayer net1.1 and net2.2 and the hotfix list.. step 3, use nlite to tweak the hfsliped source.... this way you save a lot of install time for dx9 and mdac. ather that adding driverpacks is a verry good idea.. but i would say, lets look at the totorial for 'creating your own DP' and build ourselves a win2k version (removing those files that arn't neaded for xp... etc (all to make these packs a bit smaller),
  14. yes there is... and its HELL, just save your data and, - install a cleen 2k.... youll save yourself a d*mn lot of trouble...
  15. well there are 2 verry easy ways to get this done, and probably all depends on what kind of printer you have, what kind of budget you have, and how mutch time you are willing to spend.. the way i see things.. on a small network with not mutch room for expensive equipment i have offten used an old desktop "like IBM or Dell" -pc, and tried to install a verry smal linux distribution, on it, witch would have to use samba (server part) and CUBS (the linux printing service), to create a print server.... but in fact this is usually only verry usefull if you have sutch hardware lying around, and you need more than a single printer conected, Pro's its safe, verry stable, can conect up to 5 (2 isa slots, 2pci slots, and the default printerport, leaving 1 pci for a lan adaptor) printers with verry cheap pci and isa printerport-cards, and than some via usb, it will be easily manageble with a webbased admin panel, and provided that you have sufecient ram, you can have verry large printer-q ... Con's it can however be hard to setup (for the first time), and a destop machine like an old PII can take a bit of space, also you cant really build it into a tight space (or youll overheat the thing), the last known problem is that it might take you a bit of extra time to get decent printer drivers for your linux box (and you will need them) _-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-_ other alternative is a printserver or usb-capable router, some of these only cost about, 60$usd and will have 2 usb ports - than in windows you can easily create a vertual printerport to the IP'of your print-server... this has many advantages... as its smaller than a fullsize pc, uses about 1 quarter of the power... but usually its slower, and you cant have big print-que's with it...
  16. few minor comments... for newbe users... and talking in general term for most european countries and US state (its still up to you to check you it a aplys to you too)... IF you redistribute microsoft windows, as retailer (or OEM-system builder) you are required in most countries and states to deliver what you sell, that is - if you sell a licence of windows you are to deliver a full retail version of windows... its licence documents etc. (also a full orriginal cdrom containing it ) - or equivilent to the sold version: OEM, Retail, volume licence, or other... MAYBE: with the expeption of when you being an oficial OEM partner allowed to licence a machine by installing a sticker with code... If your an OEM reseller, YOU are the soul 'person' to provide support to a client... and MS will genarally refuse to support any of your clients... If you sell out customized (hacked), retail versions be aware even more, because, by hacking (tweeking) the system you may be undoing any warrenty your users have a right to... by doing this you MUST make sure your clients agrea to this, knowing what it wil meen to them if things break, - about pre-installing 3rd party software, You MUST be sure to have the right to distribute and/or resell ALL software on your disks.... in generall: Ask your local legal-counseler (lawyer) first before you ever use projects as this one for productional and/or (semi-)comercial use... AT ALL TIME.
  17. lighty is as old as it can be, and in certain points its as usefull as apache, but only to single server enviroments and only if not to mutch complicated is required, apache for example has ten times as many aditional features and modules, and verry advanced features like load balancing etc. - but lighty isn't called lighty for nothing, also i know for a fact that lighty has verry good performance in embeded or close-to-embeded-like systems, anywone should be able to run lighty on systems where apache might be just a bit of overkill, the only 'problem' i have with lighty is that it hardly has any webbased-controll-panel support

    Debby does nLite

whooot lill female charm does the trick anytime - but a - i guess my g/f doesn't relate to it really... btw i did notice that you first Read the G#$#$ manual before asking, so i hope that you got your pc working again, if not, get back here soon and next time ill hope to be noticing these kinds of posts a bit sooner ... Happy Easter...
  19. maybe im stupid, but a ........ maybe you just better like, eighter full strip the *#$%# thing and than start experiencing the problems and look up " nlite what not to remove for myapp " and look that up in google. .. or jou just go an play outside with tha kiddies... any way YOU have to find a good config for YOU and it you find that APP xyz does work with your config try to search first and ask than.... it took Me about a 5moths to find out what i can and cant remove and today still i use RW cd's to test my nlite.iso's first befor i burn them...
  20. dont use tclock or any of its kind its highly UNstable and will NOT improve anything AT ALL... i think for the icon stuf we just nead that revolution pack dll thingy... and for the explorer part + start panel ... i just wish it was a bit more easy to code in C so someone could just play with the ros-explorer... its absolutely NOT badly coded its just plain awful to look at... and ofcaurce it has the mozilla plugin- build in witch is a REALY stupid idea...
  21. just a simple thought but it could be helpfull to be more procise of what you are wanting to get done, a please help or, my profile doesn't work like it should, doesn't help me or any others to understand what it is your want to accomplish.... if it is that you want a normal windows theme to be applied to your profile only on a entire network - u should use a roaming profile for yourself, - (its only realy usefull for normal MS themes though as you probably dont want to 'patch' any windows files in a corp enviroment - because A it will undo the SA (software assurance), for your company - B it be cause some risks to system security, anyway if you DO want to be stupid enouth to patch and hack files around in your boss's computer go-ahead - xpize has many - UA switches and is VERRY easily depoyed ... trough your domain policies
  22. you should NOT remove that, also, what happends if you install the drivers manualy ... so after the unattended part... -

    Abit KV7-V

if your not realy comfortable with selecting and slipstreaming your own i must recoment your to download the driverpacks from bashrad ... at: http://www.driverpacks.net - at least take the mass storrage pack and maybe also the chipset package - those to dont take mutch space and are verry usefull to get the basics running smooth... allways set texmode.sif to enabled for mass-storage unless you run into trouble with it...
  24. http://www.driverpacks.net / not all people need the full set of drivers but i DO recoment anyone to atleast install the most recent driverpack for mass-storrage with the textmode . sif option ENABLED - (if this is the only driverpack your going to install: use method one: and enable KTD ) ..... it wil hardley take mutch space in your cdrom, and makes installing to any sata raid or even scsi drive so mutch easier... -
