in order to check to see if it works, you could run it manually (dpending on the method you're using to do the silent install, and assuming nero isn't already installed), or use something like VMWare or Virtual PC and test it that way

Quickest, simplest guide to Installing XP+apps
rendrag replied to diddykong's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
if you just want to install firefox, just call the extension with a -ms switch and it will silently install it -
there might also be a reset button on it. many times you can set it back to factory defaults by holding in that button for 30s to a minute

nice! been waiting for something like this

Disable Mouse and Keyboard temporarily

you could hide the batch file so they couldn't even see it to close it. CMDOW... you can find it on http://unattended.msfn.org -
sure... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...l=switch+finder download the switchfinder... It doesn't find everything, but I've had good success using it if I didn't know the installer type. You can also try finding the installer type by right-clicking the .exe file and go to properties. Generally under Version you'll see Copyright... It will usually say Copyright XYZ installer. That may also come in handy in finding out the installer type. Some installers execute and call other installers. If that's the case there are 2 potential ways you can get the extracted installers.1 1. Usually the initial setup.exe allows you to extract the files (make sure you have WinRAR installed). You can right-click the .EXE and extract the files to a new folder, or however you want to do it. 2. You can have it extract the setup files, and just copy them out of your temp directory. Before running the setup you want to go to Start -> Run -> %temp% and clean out your temp directory... then run setup. While the setup is still open, go back to your temp directory and see what's there. If there's an file with a .MSI or .EXE extension, copy them out. Once you know the installer type, from http://unattended.msfn.org, mouse over Intermediate Users -> Applications, and see if at the bottom of that list you see the installer type you have. Click the corresponding setup type, and that page will have your switches. Hope that helps/makes sense as far as putting it in the %ProgramFiles% directory, you can, but if it's a setup file that needs to run to install the program (most do), you need to call that installer. Best way is to follow the batch scripting method found here, or however you generally run installers with your uA CD

http://linuxiso.org site with probably all the free linux distros out there

you could try just throwing it all in %progs% and experimenting, but if you knew what type of installer they were, it'd save you a lot of time. Are you suprised that something from Dell is bloated and full of useless garbage?? haha when you get the error for the printer, how are you running the install? i.e. through the intial AiO popup or manually?
-
so then you would just find your printer's installer and run that... by advanced he meant version... there should be an installer type or something there. check http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/apps/intro.htm for the installer switch
-
what kind of installer is the AiO? (right click setup and go to properties)

To Be Unattended Or Not To Be Unattended...
rendrag replied to peanutismint's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
my understanding/experience has been all correct/valid values in winnt.sif should be automatically entered into the install for you. If it's asking for your key again, any chance that what is in the winnt.sif is not correct? you could integrate the SATA driver into your windows install (look in the device drivers forum) and not have to hit f6 at all -
how do you know they're not in the registry? Are you assuming that because AR7 isn't installed when you log into windows? try switching to a /qb, but also make sure you have all the required files for AR7. I think RyanVM has a post in here somewhere about a switchless AR installer. Should be able to find it pretty easy through a search

if you choose to go DVI, hopefully you'll have better luck than I did. I have a 9800 AiW, and a DVI input to my TV. Unfortunately the TV would not take the signal. I read online that something similar to macrovision or something is prohibiting the signal from being shown on the TV (if I used a DVI DVD player, it worked no problem).

i tried running recovery console, it just kept telling me to insert the floppy disk and hit enter

Diskeeper Build 524 Update Integration ?
rendrag replied to n7Epsilon's topic in Application Installs
if you have the original installer, you could run that, and then run the updater after the original was finished. If you only want to run one file, you need the full installer of the latest build -
unfortunately I could not get to a point where that was possible. It's a laptop, so the hard drive isn't exactly easily accessible to hook up to another machine to force the file over that way, and I can't run recovery console because I don't own a floppy drive.
-
would depend on the router, but somewhere in the wireless settings should be the operating channel. I would set that to either 1,6, or 11, and then match the same in the laptop's wireless card configuration

after i installed it, rebooted my computer, and my winlogon.exe is broken. It says it cant find a SHREF call in msigna.dll. Only option is OK, so I click it, it then says it can't load winlogon.exe. contact system admin. I had to reinstall windows I'm hesitant to install it again. Anyone else run into this?
