  1. is the server and client in the same subnet?
  2. edit: Roguespear did a better job explaining
  3. off topic, but where'd you get that theme? linking a thumbnail, I believe you can put your photo on photobucket.com and they'll give you a link for a thumbnail image
  4. when you're not using the dial-up connection, you can disable it, so that XP doesn't know it exists, and then when you need to use it, enable it. from the network connections window in the control panel, just right click the network icon for the dial-up, and choose disable.
  5. I've never gotten ICS to work... if you can, more power to ya
  6. usually 2 DNS servers are enough... however you won't be worse off pointing to 3 of them. They query in the order listed, so DNS 1 will be asked to resolve first. If that's not available, it asks 2, etc.
  7. I assume you mean static IP from your internet provider. They support PPoE, DHCP, Static IP, and a couple others, I forget. They should have some documentation on their site you can look at that'll list everything, but it's safe to say they support just about anything you would need to get online with it.
  8. that's not completely true... D-Link makes a great consumer gigabit router... the only thing is that it has a wireless AP in it as well. I personally don't use it, but it's received nothing but spectacular reviews. I be suprised if you couldn't turn off the wireless function on it however. http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=370 Edit: D-link makes a wired only gigabit router as well: http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=371&sec=4
  9. What are you using ICS for in this case? If you are behind a router, then you are using the router as the ICS.
  10. what's the application? i.e. home, business, etc
  11. every consumer PSU will have an IEC C13 connector on the PSU (female side), and then you'll need the right power cable for the country you're good. Like everyone else said, you want to check the box for either "auto-sensing voltage" or that it has the red voltage selector on the back
  12. in your BIOS, you should be able to set the sata to either raid or ide (i believe)... if you just set it to the alternative to raid, it should be able to be noticed then.
  13. I have v3 of the router. I've tried the linksys firmware, plus just about every iteration of 3rd party firmware out there. It's been so long since I've used the Linksys firmware however, that I couldn't tell you if there's any QoS built in, however all the other versions of the firmware out there have QoS in place so you could prioritize traffic, thereby allowing you to browse the web and use other high traffic applications. check out http://linksysinfo.org if you haven't already. They list 3rd party firmware compatible with v5 of the WRT54G re: WRT54GS The "S" in WRT54GS stands for Speedbooster. That feature helps throughput for wireless clients using a compatible "speedbooster" wireless adapter. Other than that, there is no difference between the WRT54G and GS other alternatives: if you just can't get v5 to work correctly, D-Link makes an excellent gaming router. You check that out here: http://games.dlink.com/ . They run between $125-180 on pricegrabber
  14. There is always the name brand: Dell, Gateway, Compaq/HP (I generally rate them in that order) but if you're looking for something different, and you're good with computers, you can get good deals from builders like http://www.ibuypower.com . I like their colored cases. I currently have their slim notebook. Weighs in at a light 3lbs. They have some nice gaming machines for decent prices as well.
  15. there is actual stock of crossfire anywhere? i thought they were still trying to make those boards?

  17. nice... def like the new version
  18. just searching for the term "zone alarm silent" brought me the reult you're looking for, so i don't think you searched effectively http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ne+alarm+silent
  19. how is he trying to connect? remote desktop, pcanywhere, etc.
  20. totally agree w/ ripken on that... if you don't care, why spend the extra money?

  22. what's wrong w/ detached program? basically, at that stage of the install, the system doesn't know where your cd-rom is yet, so it can't call a file if it doesn't know where it is. you could always hide it in your system32 directory, or you could call a cleanup file that sleeps for 5 seconds, then deletes the install.cmd file (sleeping gives the install.cmd file a chance to unload from memory, allowing it to be deleted).
  23. what kind of installer does it use? could you extract the files out of the exe and see if there's an MSI or something similar inside? would make the silent install very easy at that point.
