  1. have you tried this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ed++codec++pack
  2. do you have anything else in your OEM folders? Is it getting copied? in your winnt.sif, do you have OEMPreInstall = YES ?
  3. what does it say that you have to click "next" to? have you checked, double-checked, and triple-checked your winnt.sif to make sure it isn't something you missed?
  4. have you tried a previous version of the catalyst drivers? Do they produce the same issue?
  5. i believe linksys is now providing a CD which will set up all of that for you. It's called pushbutton setup or something of the like. otherwise, http://kb.linksys.com is always a good option as well. they'll have specific instructions depending on your internet provider
  6. i'm fairly certain you wouldn't really see any difference using fat32 vs fat16 on a usb drive. I think the main reason companies use fat16 is so older OS's can use the drive. You could always try it and let us know I think the USB2 speed (480Mbits) is the bottleneck, not so much the file system.
  7. first, you want to put [ code ] [ /code ] tags around that tweak list. 2nd, because there are so many tweaks, your best bet (unless someone can pick out the one that's causing problems) might be to not install any by default, and then add one tweak at a time until you find the one that is causing issues
  8. you may not have to go that complicated... what I did was make sure all the computer names were different, and that all 3 computers were in the same workgroup. Some routers have it setup that wireless clients cannot talk to any other PCs on the network, so you might have to check your router to see if that's available/enabled in your router. for whatever reason, sometimes the computers won't show up in network places, but if you go to start -> run and put in "\\computername" without quotes, it should open the computer name you're trying to access
  9. can you boot into safe mode maybe and re-install good drivers?
  10. generally also will ship with a remote control as well, plus some additional software (if you get the retail box)
  11. from what I googled, it seems that A- you would need a machine specific image located on a server B- a NIC that supports booting from LAN (most new ones don't anymore) C- at least a Gigabit network, but even then, loading XP would probably take more time than it would be worth. D- a lot of time to devote to setting it up as it seems no websites I was able to find had how-to's. It was generally done back in the day when 100MB hard drives were $500
  12. have you tried popping that CD into a different computer to see if it could read the cd? some cd-rom drives just can't read CD-Rs, or had limited support for CD-R reading
  13. honestly, if you have this many questions, it may benefit you to create a brand new unattended CD from scratch, and follow the guide @ http://unattended.msfn.org Even if you know bits and pieces, it's good to do the whole thing as you would learn exactly where to put everything, and the other finer details. Because there's an entire guide, you'll find very few members willing to explain it all to you when Alanoll (and others) have done such an excellent job already. good luck
  14. could do a virus scan and find out... could be spyware as well, but more likely a virus trying to spread across your network it would seem to me
  15. Your best friend: http://unattended.msfn.org/
  16. management port generally is a serial connection, but may use some proprietary com cable that would have been provided with the switch. If you take the newest switch away, does everything go back to "normal"?
  17. could use partition magic or similar program to partition the drive to fit under that threshold, no?
  18. if it's a temp solution, that will work out fine until you can get something better... afaik, 8x agp cards are backward compatible w/ 4x, so you don't really have to worry about that
  19. you could use something like WPI and just choose which one you want to install on a given system
  20. ASUS makes really good motherboards (#1 in my book), but if you're not going to be doing anything serious PC gaming, it would make sense to get a non-SLI based board like ASUS K8N-E Deluxe. I love that motherboard. No bad points really. I haven't had even a hint of issues with it. as far as memory, if your looking top, then you can't go wrong with Corsair XMS 1GB nothing wrong w/ that CPU... just make sure you use either the stock cooler, or some cooler like this Thermaltake cooler
  21. did you personally edit the file, or did you download it? There's prob a corruption in the file why do you need to compress the file?
  22. totally agree with blam-o.... you kill 1, 10 pop up in its place... A big problem is that our court system is very tech-stupid, meaning the people involved in the decision making (judges etc.) don't understand technology very well. How is it when Sony was sued by the MPAA because of the betamax those judges understood that you can actually produce a product with good intentions but there will always be people who abuse it, where these judges cannot? I thought we are supposed to get smarter over time, not dumber? One thing technology is very good at is adaptation... software makers will adapt to the environment
  23. what router are you using? Does it have the latest firmware on it?
  24. generally all the manufactures will have specific instructions for config'ing routers... for that reason I can't see a website hosting all those instrutions
  25. if you were distributing the modified packages to make a profit, I could definitely see the companies banging down your door because you're making money off (mostly) their work. However if you are saving people time by providing something they would have to have done themselves, I can't see how that's illegal.
