  1. this may sound dorky, but I have to set up a bunch of APs around my building, and was looking for some cool SSIDs. I was floored that I couldn't find anything on google, as it has never failed me before, but I guess there's a first time for everything. Have any of you guys found a list online? If not, i guess we can start a list. Edit: List below. Comics # Gotham # Hells Kitchen # Krypton # Metropolis # X-Mansion # Oa # Smallville # Thanagar Misc Locations # Atlantis Natural Phenomena # Avalanche # Earthquake # Hurricane # Monsoon # Tornado # Tsunami # Volcano Phonetic Alphabet # Alpha # Bravo # Charlie # Delta # Echo # Foxtrot # Golf # Hotel # India # Juliett # Kilo # Lima # Mike # November # Oscar # Papa # Québec # Romeo # Sierra # Tango # Uniform # Victor # Wiskey # X-ray # Yankee # Zulu Planets # Mercury # Venus # Earth # Mars # Jupiter # Saturn # Uranus # Neptune # Pluto Star Wars # Alderaan # Bespin # Cloud City # Corellia # Coruscant # Dagobah # Dantooine # Death Star # Echo Base # Endor # Ewok Village # Hoth # Jedi Temple # Kashyyyk # Mos Eisley # Naboo # Tatooine
  2. are you talking about keeping the drivers present so incase you add a piece of hardware the driverpacks support it will auto install? if that's the case, you wouldn't delete the folder that all your drivers are in, then if you do add a certain piece of supported hardware, when the add new hardware wizard comes up, just point to the folder that the drivers are located. if you want it automated, the only way I know how is to integrate the drivers into the driver.cab i believe, however if someone else has an alternate method, obviously chime in.
  3. Well, one of my favorite examples of that could be photoshop... I bet there several million illigal copies out there... I bet a fair bit of those would be legit if a "home user" license costed say 75£ instead of 500£ I would absolutely be the first one to argue that photoshop is definitly worth the 500£ and that Adobe deserves a fair payment for their work .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see the argument, but it just does not make economic sense. There is a 'willingness to pay' threshold we all operate at for a given product and piracy blows that out of the water. People say that 'if X product was cheaper, i'd buy it, but since it's not, I have to pirate it because I need it'. That is a load of garbage. If piracy didn't exist, and you couldn't afford X product, you'd find suitable Y alternative that you could live with. You don't need that piece of software. There are alternatives. If X was truly valueable enough to you, you'd find a way to afford it and purchase it. Piracy allows people to acquire products outside what they would normally consider affordable. The most popular argument for piracy is that if you weren't going to purchase it anyway, then the product manufacturer has lost no money. While that's true in a sense, there is a reason companies generally offer demo versions of their software. That way you can try before you buy. If you get any value out of the software that you stole, then the product manufacturer has lost money. plain and simple. I personally believe that the cost of products would go down if there was no piracy. Piracy is a huge industry that does real damage. I know the first argument back will be that not everyone who pirates can afford the product they're pirating, but there are enough people/companies that do pirate, despite the fact they can afford to purchase it, which is why it's such a problem. You are never in a situation where you have no choice.
  4. Based on that, no one will have the first clue as to what you did that is causing this. You want to start by at least listing what changes you have made to the "stock" cd, and more importantly, what changes you made from your last build that was working properly to this build that is not. unfortunately you may not have a choice. There's a good chance noone will truly know why your system is rebooting unless they have experienced the exact same issue you are. I know computer emulation programs sometimes can act completely different than a live machine, so have you tried that build on an actual PC?
  5. or you could just do DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Desktop\Alcohol*.lnk" that'll delete every shortcut on the desktop that starts with alcohol.
  6. during textmode setup, there are no reg entries applied to your system because at that point, there is no system. Nothing inherently in the $OEM$ folder (unless it's a corrupt system file) would be causing this error. And by turning off OEMPreinstall, you have told XP setup to bypass your $OEM$ folder anyway. in any case, those ntfs tweaks have nothing to do with the .sys file. That file is probably missing or corrupt. Does MS give any direction on how to rectify the problem? to me it's sounding more and more like a bad source CD, but we'll see i suppose
  7. it's rewriteable, can't you just erase and reburn the new image?
  8. does the router have a web interface to it? DSL generally gives you a static IP address that you would have to enter into the router so it would get online. Does your computer get an IP address from the router? you can check by going start > run > cmd, and in the cmd window type 'ipconfig'. If you see a 169.254.X.X or 0.0.0.0 you're not getting an IP address. Checking these things will help troubleshoot the issue.
  9. i've had success adding "mozilla=1" to that switch line
  10. the stuff in your $OEM$ folder are not even touched yet. cmdlines.txt does not get executed until the gui part of setup, so don't worry about that or anything else that it calls. step by step... this is what i understand happens. please correct me if i'm wrong. : cd boots, and starts installing the basic drivers, i.e. keyboard, floppy, some scsi etc., : a message displays at the bottom, "Press F6 if you have to install 3rd party SCSI drivers" or something to that effect. :You press F6, so it goes through the rest of its thing, and then asks you to insert a floppy : with the floppy inserted you press enter. It looks for txtsetup.oem. If it finds it correctly, it should display some description of the SATA driver that matches your hardware. : You press enter or whatever to install the files. : it then asks you to pick your filesystem (and I believe how you want it formatted as well), so you do : after it's done formatting it should start "copying files for windows installation" (mind you, the floppy should still be in the drive) -> Is it at that step you're having issues? :it should then tell you it's copying additional files (your $OEM$ directory) and then reboot the PC Does your BIOS expect the SATA controller those drives are plugged into to be raided or standard? ultimately, you may have to abandon the unattended setup for now if you really want windows installed right away and don't want to deal with this problem you're having. You can just run your regtweaks from a windows desktop.
  11. i read online a while back that someone jumpered 2 PS's together so that when the power button was pushed, both PS's turned on. I believe they jumpered the green wires together, and on the 2nd PS, combined that with a black wire to start it up. you might find it on google
  12. I believe TEC is peltier cooling is it not? dangerden seems to be the defacto standard for the best equipment that's not peltier cooling. DangerDen They have an online store where you can buy your whole kit from them, but it can get pretty expensive. as far as liquids go, I used distilled water, plus water wetter. Others have tried antifreeze, however i've heard that it will wreck your radiator over time because it's thicker than water. basic components of water cooling are: radiator (blackice line is popular) CPU waterblock (dangerden rules here) pump (ehiem is good, but they use AC power) most will also use some type reservoir optional components: chipset waterblock videocard waterblock there are a lot of companies that are getting into watercooling and have their own kits. Ultimately what you want to get depends on what you're looking to do. There are some that couldn't be bothered picking out and customizing each individual component, and the rest wouldn't do it any other way. hope that helped.
  13. there's a link to it in unattended.msfn.org http://unattended.msfn.org/global/cdimage.htm
  14. after you double click it, look in your temp folder (start -> run -> %TEMP%) and look for a numbered file that ends in '.msi'
  15. try running without the '-' after the /qb.... that will provide you with any errors the installer is running into and let you see the problem so you can fix it
  16. or you could just defrag your original hard drive and see a speed increase just by doing that
  17. To answer all your questions easily... the answer is 'yes' in the $OEM$\$1 folder, you can put in another folder so you would have X:\$OEM$\$1\DP and X:\$OEM$\$1\Drivers. You could even make folders in the DP folder if you wanted. It really doesn't matter as long as you put the correct path in the OEMPnPDrivers section at the end of the existing entries in OEMPnPDrivers path, you can add the path to your additional drivers so they would be installed. The only limitation is the length of the OEMPNPDrivers path. Someone will remind me because I don't remember, but it's a fairly large number. good luck
  18. in the first post, it is mentioned that he/she already ran memtest and the RAM was fine. I never saw that file you mentioned come up when mine was rebooting, so I can't really be sure if that's conflicting
  19. it should have some stuff here for ya http://unattended.msfn.org/global/reference.htm talks about the firewall, and user setup and whatnot
  20. How is your setup currently? Do you have a router you go through, or is it a shared connection. I know the router I have allows you to limit bandwidth on comm ports, physical network ports, time of day, etc...
  21. Sorry about that. I know that some acess points can be set up as a bridge or access point. Bridge would be linking 2 wireless networks together wirelessly, and an access point would be providing a place for wireless pc's to connect to. I would try what matrix suggested and switch the IP and see if that helps. I didn't know the Dell Tru Mobile was an access point. I thought it was another wireless router, which is why I asked how it was configured as either router or gateway. Stupid question... can you change the IP of the Dell acess point to something on the 192.168.1.X network?
  22. under the components section in your winnt.sif... you can put OEaccess = no (I think that's the syntax) and that should accomplish what you're looking for. someone correct me if I'm wrong
