could set up an ftp server and access it that way. that's not too difficult. It doesn't integrate with Itunes, but it's one of the only ways I can think of to access your itunes remotely

ATI X600 PRO PCI-E Card not working on my ASUS A8NVM MotherBoard

sorry... got twisted. You can't mix manufacturers when using the board in dual SLI mode. It should work fine in a single GPU setup -
[WLAN] Cant view computers with different ISP
rendrag replied to sakulati's topic in Networks and the Internet
are you guys both using the same network segment, or are they different? can you ping any of the PCs? Theoretically, connecting the routers should work, but the routing tables have to be set up in the router so that they know where to send the data. -
ATI X600 PRO PCI-E Card not working on my ASUS A8NVM MotherBoard

i'm fairly certain that if you use a nForce SLI motherboard, you can only use nVidia graphics cards, likewise when you use Crossfire SLI motherboard, you can only use ATi graphics cards. That incompatibility could be causing you these problems -
how about a switched rack PDU by APC? the device connects to your network, and allows you to remotely manage individual outlets. You could use SNMP and via a command script, turn on outlets, without having to log into the device.

it depends... what are they trying to accomplish when they connect to your network? Filesharing? gaming? e-mail? There are a couple options, though nothing is as secure as VPN, and they require at a minimum, 1 unused PC connected to your network. You could use something like XP Pro's remote desktop (the client is available for win98 free from MS's site), or pcAnywhere, which is a little more secure than remote desktop. The outside clients would connect through your router to the unused PC on your network, and it would almost be like sitting at that internal PC. If the 2 users will connect simultaneously, you either need 2 PCs, or some kind of virtualization program (vmware is a popular option) running on the main PC that allows 2 OS'es to run simultaneously, so that each of your clients connects to a different "PC". Hopefully I didn't confuse you too much. if so, we'll try to clarify

well, if it operates in the 2.4GHz range, the product needs to be able to accept outside interference, even if it's detrimental to the operation of the device... that's FCC regulation. That said, there may be methods to reduce that interference, however I don't know any. Hopefully one of the other members here can chime in. The linksys WRT54G is a very popular/inexpensive Wireless G router. It has adjustable antennas in that you can swivel them, if that's what you're looking for, but not extendable ones.

if the chipset is the same (i.e. the mobile CPU is a socket 754), it should work.

bridging in windows won't accomplish what you want... you'll need to set up bridging on the 2nd router. Depending on the make/model, it might be in the router setup. Most routers will be access points by default, so there might be a drop-down or something there that will allow a different operation.

[LAN] How i can search for ilegal connection in my Lan?
rendrag replied to JoshPeru's topic in Networks and the Internet
if .36 is another router, you'll have to check its dhcp logs to see what connections it has, because 192.168.1.1 will not know what DHCP leases .36 gave out -
[LAN] How i can search for ilegal connection in my Lan?

until they use mac-spoofing and bypass it -
gotcha... yeah, i was trying to map to an FTP folder.

i have an asus A8N, and I love it... rock solid board. I would recommend the DFI board ripken suggested as well
-
really? wow... i tried mapping to my webhost, and the windows utility told me the drive must be located on the same network, accessible via //server/folder
-
well, you could use a webhost to store your files, but depending on the host you use, they may have upload/download limits as well... most have storage limits as well mapping network drives can't be done over the internet... the drive must be located on your local network.

is the latest firmware on that router? Dlink's site should have more information. http://www.dlink.com also, give this a shot? http://216.104.71.5/english/routers/port_f...02T/default.htm

[LAN] Forward same traffic to mulitple PCs?

general mandible, what is your VPN setup like, hardware-software wise? I was looking at doing something similar -
see edit above ^

have you checked your mouse properties, and turn off acceleration? There are other options in there that might prove useful in your situation

do the 2 modem based PCs in question already have internet service? If so, then you need to replace your router with a VPN router, or put 3rd party firmware on the Linksys router (I assume a Linksys WRT54G is what you have) that supports VPN service. DD-WRT is firmware I'd recommend. Then you need to install VPN software (openVPN perhaps) on each of the 2 PCs to allow them to connect to your network from the outside.

this work? http://www.netgear.com/products/details/FWG114P.php i couldn't find anything w/ a built-in ISDN modem

in a typical environment, you're going to see that your connection to your router should always be faster than your internet connection, mostly because a typical wireless B connection will be about 7-11mbps, and a typical internet connection will be between 768kpbs and 3mbps. that said, your browsing should still be fast enough that you notice it. I haven't used a belkin wireless router before, so I don't know if this is available, but do you have the latest firmware available for that router? you should be able to get it off belkin's site. Router manufacturers will routinely release new firmware that addresses various issues, or adds new features. It will also address any corruptions that may have surfaced in the existing system. You could give that a shot

does the laptop have a built-in ethernet jack? If so, have you tried to use that? That would eliminate whether it's a wireless problem, or just a laptop problem in general. Without knowing that, it sounds like a laptop issue, but it's tough to tell. I might try uninstalling the wireless nic from the device manager, and then reboot the PC. upon reboot, it should re-install the device.

some USB keys support that, but it would depend on the key. i'm not aware of any universal software with that purpose
