  1. All I can say is that it is in my registry. Sorry, can't do anything about yours.
  2. The Service Pack text is in the registry ... HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion so I would guess that the rest are there somewhere too!
  3. Here is some free Proxy software ... http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Network.../FreeProxy.html

These are the dependancies... Network connections -Remote Procedure call Windows Management Instrumentation -Event log -Remote Procedure Call
  5. The "best" way to do this would be to install some "Proxy" software, either on a separate server or on your main server. You can then configure your clients to access the Internet via the Proxy Server. If you have a home Router then the solution is trivial, just set the Default Gateway of your clients to the IP address of the Router. If your Router also has DHCP, then the solution is even more trivial!
  6. Longhorn is just the "working title" of the next version of Windows.
  7. It's a herb! (Don't argue with me, take it up with Kew Gardens )
  8. Incidentally, a banana is NOT a fruit.
  9. The Microsoft offering is pretty good at that sort of thing. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

    Win 2K

It might have been a better idea to have slipstreamed SP4 into Windows 2000 and then install, rather than as an upgrade after you installed Windows.
  13. It could be a corrupt TCP/IP stack, have a look at the following ... http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
  14. OK, at the DOS prompt ... ping 127.0.0.1 ping 192.168.0.2 ping 192.168.0.1 ping www.microsoft.com do all of the above work, or do any of them fail?
  15. Have you run the ICS wizard? Click on "My Network Places" and then click on "Set up a home or small office network"
  16. XP puts many more demands on your hardware than 2000. We have XP clients here at work and they are as slow as Hell! Most of the machines are P3s and it can take anything up to 15 minutes to boot up and logon to the network!
  17. Does anyone know a way to remove/disable the Options button on the "Log On to Windows" dialog box??

    Recycle Bin

I have a ".reg" file which hides/unhides the recycle bin, I'll dig it out and send it to you.
  19. Did you set up roaming profiles before re-directing the My Documents folders??
  20. @Ge0ph How do you transfer files using Remote Desktop? I've never managed to figure that one out, I didn't even know it was possible, I thought you just had Keyboard/Mouse control.
  21. If you go to Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off De-select "Use the Welcome Screen"
