If you follow the instructions as normal to install Windows (I wouldn't do this unattended), about 4-5 screens into the installation it detects you already have Windows installed and gives you the opportunity to repair it. What this does is delete the Windows files and copy them back off the CD. Your User Accounts will be safe, your installed applications will be safe. It's worth a try, but be prepared to reformat and install fresh if it goes pear-shaped!

It's a bit of a Holy Grail for both the Music and Software Industries. As yet, as far as I know, there isn't a general, perfect method publicly available.

Dunno, but you're not alone. When I had XP Home, the CD Key on the Sticker on the PC was different to that reported by such programs as Keyfinder. Never did figure that one out.

You're not going to believe how I fixed this. Are you sitting comfortably? At a DOS prompt I typed ... C:\Documents and Settings>attrib alluse~1 -s -h and low and behold, SORTED!!!

I'm afraid I've already thought of that. And it doesn't work. No matter what I do the Hidden attribute is greyed out and I simply cannot change it.

XP Pro. My All Users folder has suddenly become one of the protected system files.

It was for Quicken, and I have found a "fix" (InetFix.exe) to get the offending missing DLL file from the Intuit website. As far as I'm aware there isn't a virus on the machine concerned, it could be something to do with the fact that Quicken was updated to a newer version, which the Intuit website mentions. Thanks anyway for replying.

An application is asking for "InetClnt.dll". What is this file used for, why don't I have it anyway and why are some sites asking for 10 euros to download it??

Suddenly my All Users Folder has the Hidden attribute set, and it is greyed out and I cannot change it. Anyone got any ideas?
