  1. Only for Flash Player versions 10.0.xx you had to fake the OS. ... why was it necessary in this case? Think it's a difference of the installer version check. It isn't nessessary for all other versions (comp. mode default)! AFAIK it's always recommended to change back the Version and VersionNumber (98SE: 4.10.2222 or 4.10.2222A). HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion: Default (value not set). And nothing else.
  2. Why do you have these registry entries? Generally there is no need. In individual cases it can be necessary to fake the OS version for a setup. It's recommended to delete the string "CurrentVersion 5.1" afterwards. CurrentVersion=5.1 is to fake windows XP.
  3. Yes I can confirm FindActCtxSectionStringW is a culprit. OO starts successfully and runs fine. But I have a problem with the Foxit Reader 5.x. It refused to start, if I try to start it from the desktop shortcut. Error starting program The IPHLPAPI.dll file canot start. Check the file to determine the problem. It starts from the start menu shortcut or from foxit.exe in the program folder.
  4. I don't know if the file NPSWF32_11_3_300_265.dll was there (it's not here now - but I might have renamed it when I first saw it). I uninstalled version 11.3 and re-installed 11.1. I don't care about Opera. I want to know if install_flash_player_11_plugin.msi works with FF version 2.0.0.20. On one win-98 system I did get 11.3.300.262 working just by copying the DLL, but that method didn't work on another system (see post #77). Hallo Nomen, I downloaded for testing FF portable 2.0.0.20, installed it and I have done the NPSWF32_11_3_300_265.dll file in the plugin folder of the port. app (C:............\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins). Then I renamed this file to NPSWF32.dll. It works here! Also works for me to start FF 2 with comp. mode XP ( C:\............\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox\firefox exe ). Condition is that NPSWF32_11_3_300_265.dll is still in the system/.../flash folder.
  5. Where (in what post) was this method described? I downloaded this: http://download.macr...r_11_plugin.msi And ran it. I got a pop-up box saying "A required DLL file, WINHTTP.DLL, was not found". I have this file as part of a kb patch I downloaded (kb890830-v2.8) but I don't know why I have the patch file (I never deployed it). In spite of that "dll not found" message, the above flash-player installshield wizard ran to completion and said that it has "successfully installed adobe flash player 11 plugin". I restarted the system and ran the Flash Player app in control panel. It crashed, saying "plashplayerapp caused an invalid page fault in module unicows.dll". I went to this page: http://www.codegeek....ash-version.php and it said "Javascript is enabled in your browser. You have Flash player 11.3.300 installed." This page: http://www.playerversion.com/ said the same thing. However, no movie is visible when I to go this page: http://helpx.adobe.c...ash-player.html and basically I can't get any flash videos to display on any page. What's odd is that in my \SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH, there is no NPSWF32.dll file (!). I tried replacing it with several different versions but nothing worked. I had to go to add-remove programs and un-install Flash Player 11 and then run install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit_11.1.102.63.exe to get flash functionality back. Hallo Nomen, the msi version 11.3 for other browsers should paste NPSWF32_11_3_300_265.dll in the SYSTEM\MACROMED\FLASH folder and not NPSWF32.dll. All Opera versions 10.1+ (10.1/ 10.63/ 11.64 testet) have to run with comp. mode Win2000, otherwise the player fails to work. I've tested it here on some computers. As soon the error message appears check the flash folder (F5) for the NPSWF32_11_3_300_265.dll. I added the Winhttp.dll (XP version) for the Foxit Reader 5.x to the system folder. Up to now I can't see any problems with this file.
  6. I doesn't found a clear culprit yet. I will keep looking. Either Foxit Reader 5.x doesn't start or OpenOffice doesn't (runtime error R6034) or both or I get an error with the explorer (runtime error R6034).
  7. 5. I've successfully installed GoogleEarth 6.0.2.2074 (03.23.11) with comp. mode Win2000 and it has started (comp. mode Win2000) fine, but only in directX mode. Testet only a short time. Streetview works, too. GE doesn't run with openGL mode. Driver Nvidia 82.69 mdgx. I believe it will run with the driver 82.16 for OpenGL. I guess the same behaviour as for version 5.2. Graphics card here Nvidia 5900XT. Latest versions I'll try the next days.
  8. "[Kernel32.dll] GetSystemWow64DirectoryA=z3e" works for Java 6 updates 32/33/34 installation, but Foxit Reader 5.x crashed on start.
  9. Yes there seem to be a problem with the update - post 10. I couldn't install OO 3.2.1. Message: The I/O operation has been aborted, because either a thread exit or an application request. After I had deleted the update the setup has worked fine and OO has started.
  10. Hi Schwups and Jumper, thanks for the above ! So far I just started with only update 32. It seem to have installed fine on my win98se but I noticed that the control panel where one should deactivate the next generation plug-in is gone. Is it the same on your system ? Jumper, can you please have a look on OpenOffice !? I have version 3.2 installed and with kstub running it unfortunately won't start. There was an error message about runtime and msvcr90.dll. Best, Mikl Copy "javacpl.cpl" (C:\Programme\Java\jre6\bin) in your system folder and it should appear in your control panel. OpenOffice 3.2.1: You must copy the VisualC++ red 2008 files (MSVCM90.DLL; MSVCP90.DLL; MSVCR90.DLL) of the system folder in your system32 folder.
  11. 4. SuperAntiSpyware version 4.56 : The folderselection for custom scan now works. I've managed to start version 5.0 with Win 2kSP4 mode (XP mode should do it, too). New entry in stubs.ini: [Netapi32.dll] NetUseEnum=04 > rather guessed not known First start: The folderselection for custom scan works. After the definitions update has finished the system crashed.
  12. 1. The msi (windows installer) of Adobe Flash Player (Opera/Firefox) 11.3 works fine without error message. The player only works, if Opera runs with Win2000 mode! It doesn't, if Opera runs with default mode. Error fixed: missing Export Advapi32.dll:ChangeServiceConfig2W (ChangeServiceConfig2W=z3e) 2. Foxit Reader versions 5.0.x and 5.1.x now start ([secur32.dll] GetUserNameExW=z3e solves the error). The versions 5.0.x have some graphical issues. All versions of the Reader work. 3. Stubs.ini "[Kernel32.dll] GetSystemWow64DirectoryA=z3e" entry works for Java updates 33 and 34 (next release). Tested with the msi.
  13. Which Firefox 10 is working? According to http://kernelex.sour...Mozilla_Firefox : Firefox 10.0.4: Installs and runs unmodified. However, I failed installing 10.0.4esr on 98SE, it said: Sorry, Firefox can't be installed. This version of Firefox requires Microsoft Windows 2000 or newer. The wiki seems incorrect. Did you encounter this error too? The only Firefox 10 mozilla download link is from ESR (10.0.4esr). 10.0.2 download link redirected me to 12. According to your link installing the ESR (Extended Support Release) version avoids frequent automatic updates that can fail under KernelEx. When you click on the ESR channel link http://www.mozilla.o...ations/all.html it now takes you to version 10.05. Which version should I use? 10.02, 10.04esr, or 10.05esr? I have been wanting to do a fresh install for months now. I can't take the browser crashes (Firefox 2.0.0.20) much longer. I want printing, bookmarks, flash, etc to be functioning. The info on all this stuff is spread out enough making this a fairly daunting task. Hello leo, unfortunately almost always there is any problem. Did you tried Firefox 3.5.19? Plugins: Flash Player 11.1.102.63 or 10.3.183.20 / Java 1.5 Update 22 Add-ons: IE TAB version 1.5.20090525 > allows printing via IE engine. For FF 10.02 - 10.05 you should install these add-ons: "HyperBK" (bookmarks, history) / "IE View" for printing via IE. Plugin: Flash Player 11.1.102.63 (or use the HTML5 Player inside). You can't run Java applets. Notation: Firefox versions 10.02 - 10.05 aren't as stable as the versions before up to 9.01 for me. I have to do some more tests. I don't know which version of 10.02 - 10.05 is the best on 98/ME.
  14. Will the 9x/ME version handle the unicode VDF's with the unicode update? These new VDF's are for the NT kernel and beyond. Thanks, Dave Hallo Dave, I still use the progam, but only occasionally the scanner. I never had managed to run the guard with newer definitions than mai or june 2009. Since Avira stopped updating the definitions with 22.05.12, it's to lavish. One possibility still remain for me. The update still works for Antivir 8 (9) on my Win XP. I can copy the defs and paste them into my Win ME Antivir program folder. Update with defs 22.05.12: 1. Open the zip file with 7Zip or another zip app and paste the four vdf files in your Antivir app folder.. Don't paste the avpack32.dll, because it doesn't work anymore on 98/ME. The last avpack32.dll that works was released on 29.04.08. 2. Rename the downloaded zip file (22.05.12) "ivdf_fusebundle_nt_en.zip" to "ivdf_fusebundle_9x_en.zip. Start Antivir - menu - update - manual update (folder) - find and open the renamed defs file. A message appears "can't open guard vxd". Click OK. After the update has finished replace "avpack32.dll" (25.11.2009) with "avpack32.dll" (29.04.08). "avpack32.dll" (29.04.08) is included in the late 9x defs.
  15. Make sure that you install the 98/ME version and not the 2000/XP version and KernelEx must be disabled.
  16. Kexstubs now contains the follow definition for this API: [Advapi32.dll] ChangeServiceConfig2W=z3e That means: return zero, pop three parameters from the stack, and SetLastError (<invalid function>). You can also try changing the definition to "z3e0" / SetLastError (<success>). Yes, the msi (windows installer) of update 262 works fine for me. The player only works, if Opera runs with Win2000 mode! It doesn't, if Opera runs with default mode.
  17. Don't try to install with the exe installer. Install it with the msi .
  18. It's possible to install version 11.3 again with the msi installer. It installs with an error, but it works for me. (Opera 11.64 / Firefox 3.5.19 // but have a problem with Opera 10.63)
  19. Isn't it HTML5? Check it out with a right click.
  20. I've just installed new Opera 12 build 1467 and it works, but there are the same problems as before. (Plugins not detectet / can't add buttons to the toolbars)
  21. Java 6: The Bug doesn't seem to be fixed with update 33. Bug ID 7166889 The msi installer doesn't work and the Dependency Walker still shows this error. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM : The Installer failed on Windows 2000 on unzipcore fase. Because Data1.cab\regutils.dll includes GetSystemWow64DirectoryA in kernel32.dll
  22. I've installed Opera 12 build 1448 on a second computer and it seems to work stable so far. Ebay pages are loading fine, too. I can't add buttons to the toolbars and of course the plug-ins doesn't work (plugin wrapper caused an error in user.exe). Did you install the same build from the same page? KerneEX 4.5.2 (4.5.12)
