  2. BTW, I do not watch YouTube videos in browsers under Windows XP. YouTube has become bloated and cumbersome for many years. Under Windows XP and older, weaker machines, there are different ways to watch them more unbloated and less resource-consuming. @NotHereToPlayGames One way is to use the extension uTube from RealityRipple Software for UXP browsers. Doing so, you won't see any ads, even not these annoyances at the end of the Adblocker Test Video. All you have to do is to edit the install.rdf to make it compatible with New Moon 28 or Serpent 52.

  3. Guys, sorry for the late arrival. There is a lot of true info in these recent posts, there is also a lot of misleading half-truths. I shall attempt to clear the air, but sometimes that is impossible here at MSFN when people doing the discussing already have preconceived notions (which may result in this being my ONLY reply to these recent posts). I speak solely towards my 360Chrome v13.5.1030 Redux as that is the only version I still use. My other versions "should" be the same in this regard. First, yes, it is "true" that iTrusChina Co.,Ltd. is LISTED in the Trusted Certificates Store - that is not the same thing as saying it is being "used" by 360Chrome. The USE of this certificate is "supposed to be" BROKEN in my builds. Now then, with that said, how do we PROVE that the USE of this cert is BROKEN? You must must must first locate a web site that USES that cert! https://valid-isrgrootx2.letsencrypt.org/ does NOT use that cert - it uses "E1". More importantly, it uses "ECDHE_ECDSA" as the key exchange mechanism - this is not compatible with WinXP and cannot be made compatible with WinXP. My 360Chrome is "secure" for this E1 cert using ECDHE_ECDSA because this is on WINDOWS 10 and not XP!

  4. uBlock Origin 1.16.6b1 by @UCyborg: https://github.com/UCyborg/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/releases

  5. Maybe on Pale Moon, but in any case not on New Moon 28 when using @UCyborg's uBlock Origin 1.16.6b1 or uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35.

  6. Is there a particular feature from the WebExtension that stands out in those invalid -for uBO Legacy- entries? In other words: is there a particular feature that should be clearly the first one to be ported over to uBO Legacy? Or it's a complex combination of features, and we cannot easily pick one out?

  7. We have to assume that you are using One-Core API, correct?

  8. @Felipefpl You are certainly protected if only your Custom filter list uses more Network rules and Cosmetic rules than all my filter lists. But I use UBO in Hard Mode + TLD's. An advanced mode of use compared to the protection provided by filter lists alone.

  9. Mozilla does not use XP's cert store. This thread updates XP's cert store and will not affect any browser's INTERNAL cert store, it will only effect the OS cert store. Two different stores entirely.

  10. It doesn't require hardware acceleration. Even a C2D has enough performance to open 1080p h265. You need h265 in mp4 to test it. But I've already checked, the h265 video does open. Tested in Win XP.

  11. Why off-top? It's not off-top. I'll tell you where. Alex had his own website long before he made that github account. Several MSFN members linked to that site, but it was not allowed for posting because Alexei hosted cr*cks on his site along with the browser Thorium. Then he deleted that site after the scandal with the child p0rn distribution (but we are forbidden to go into further details) by Dave-H. As you may remember, the old Thorium topic was locked, probably due to the reason of Alex (Thorium) distributing cr*cked Windows loaders, etc...

  12. Offtop: Where did you find out he's from Russia? I am from Russia myself, but I have not seen any posts on any forum that he is Russian. And also in the browser there is no part of localization in Russian. In the web archive, all the snapshots say Oklahoma. https://web.archive.org/web/20220124195629/https://github.com/Alex313031

  13. No, those are two completely different guys. To clarify: Supermium is made by @win32 - Canada, Thorium (100% based on Supermium) but made by Alex F. "Alex313031" - Russia.

  14. Fully updated Windows is always key, specially in XP days. I can't uderstand why a lot of people ignoring UpdatePacks and they crying and complaining. It's still same after another 10 years. Yes, and of course there could be bugs. But I quess I must face these issues, when testing images on real machines. Another point is, many "Windows XP Enthusiast" never have real XP machine and never used them, they are just too young..

  15. Again off-topic, but the faulty file open dialogue has been fixed on the latest version of Thorium, so I guess Supermium will not be far behind!

  18. Chrome/Chromium has used an internal cert store in addition to the OS cert store since v105 and it has been enabled by default since v108. To the best of my knowledge, I do think that Official Chrome, Official Ungoogled Chromium, Supermium, and Thorium all fetch these as opposed to them being "bundled". I'll concede to anyone much more in-the-know. My only intent was to demonstrate that the same EXACT browser in XP will not have the same level of security as it does in 10. ECC cert shortcomings in XP has been known for a VERY long time. It is nice to see the backport cited a few posts ago, so that SHORTCOMING is being addressed. XP cert store cannot "do" ECC. But as demonstrated, Mypal only performs this because it is not using the XP cert store. How Supermium is performing this is a NIGHTMARE to figure out, it is simply UNSTABLE and pegs my CPU at 100%, crashes too often, et cetera, for me to have the patience to even ATTEMPT to sort it out.

  19. No clue without debugging their code. While 360Chrome is transparent and open and will SHOW you its INTERNAL certificates, Supermium and Thorium both HIDE their INTERNAL certificates and only take you to a "support.google.com" page if you ATTEMPT to view them!

  20. That may have something to do with it. If I change XP's Date and Time Properties not to automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes then toLocaleTimeString() reports the system time correctly under Serpent. With the automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes in force Serpent reports the system time incorrectly. The original Firefox ESR works properly in both cases. It would seem that Serpent is adjusting the system time for DST from the system time that is already adjusted. Ben.

  21. In theory yes but practically no. And who will do that? As @UCyborg and me already stated, uBlock Origin is one of the most complex extensions. He called it rightly a "beast" that is difficult to tame. And it is hard work to implement or port such improvements from the webextension. And it is not even certain that they will work as expected. Therefore, we have to use more and good filter lists to get similar results in blocking at the moment when using the legacy extension. This is my assessment so far. We will see what happens in the future. In any case, I didn't get such ads you observed on the website www.ovagames.com.

  22. @Dave-H Thorium has the setting you need, in chrome://flags #close-window-with-last-tab toggle to "Never" and the browser will no longer shut down when you close the last tab.

  23. You have the wrong version downloaded, for XP you need to download Thorium_122.0.6261.168_WINXP_x32.zip. In the unpacked folder run thorium.exe or run one of cmd for installation or portable mode.

  24. Please don't ask about things only related to Thorium in this thread, which is about Supermium. There is a dedicated thread for Thorium.

  30. The whole test video does not show any ads. In the last 10 seconds before it is ending, it shows a notification for an optional subscription and a preview image of the next video which would start automatically if autoplay is on. Sorry, I don't consider this to be advertising. And I don't believe that this can be fully blocked by an ad blocker. This is just an assumption, of course. I said: "And I don't believe that this can be fully blocked by an ad blocker. This is just an assumption, of course." This was really just an assumption, and I was wrong. Both elements can be fully blocked by uBlock Origin Legacy. Here is the code: www.youtube.com##.ytp-ce-covering-overlay ||yt3.ggpht.com/ytc/AIdro_mXEGaCazliYd6jLRL48P-rscos9Syk1sXeF7FWI7XB_5w=s400-c-k-c0x00ffffff-no-rj$image ||i.ytimg.com/vi/1OE6AtIUGk4/maxresdefault.jpg$image www.youtube.com##.ytp-ce-element-show.ytp-ce-size-1920.ytp-ce-top-right-quad.ytp-ce-large-round.ytp-ce-video.ytp-ce-element But to be honest, it is of course not worth the efforts. These two elements do not bother me at all. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  31. Whoala, we clearly can't call Thorium a clone of Supermium.

  32. The new 122.0.6261.168 version of Thorium seems to be working fine. One thing I have found is that it generated a folder in my profile folder called 'Screen_AI'. This appears to be a Google AI thing which it presumably downloaded in the background. Unfortunately, whatever it is, it doesn't work on XP, just generating errors in my Windows System event log whenever Thorium is started. Looking at other Chrome browsers, there should be an option in the settings to switch off this AI stuff, but that option is not there in Thorium, and I can't find any relevant flags to disable it either. I have worked around it by simply disabling chrome_screen_ai.dll by re-naming it.

  34. Yes, almost always, when a site is rewrited fro the ground up today, it will make use of bulky scripts, and often appear as an "app" (maybe with a loading bar). To find something to download from a site like YouTube, I usually still need to open it to list the content. The titles don't always have unique keywords that will return the entries via Google search. I like how YouTube-DL has become smart now and can follow the Google redirect from search results. But if I want to read the text, for example, on an e-mail site like Protonmail or Discogs, then I need to browse it normally.
