  3. I found out here that there's a way to fix WU being stuck on checking on updates after installing SP2 for Office 2010 on Vista (and XP, well kinda, read at the end for more info). Note: This problem is unique to Windows XP and Vista, 7 and newer don't have this issue. First, install SP2 for Office 2010 if you don't have it installed yet (you should see it on WU already): For x86 (32-bit): SP2 for Office 2010 x86 For x64 (64-bit): SP2 for Office 2010 x64 If you now have SP2 installed or already had it installed beforehand: To fix the WU issue, you'll have to download and install these two updates for Office 2010 SP2 prior to checking for updates (Office 2010 SP2 must be installed already!): For x86 (32-bit): Security Update for Microsoft Word 2010 (KB4493218) 32-Bit Edition and Security Update for Microsoft Excel 2010 (KB3017810) 32-Bit Edition For x64 (64-bit): Security Update for Microsoft Word 2010 (KB4493218) 64-Bit Edition and Security Update for Microsoft Excel 2010 (KB3017810) 64-Bit Edition After installing the two updates, it's recommended to restart your computer. If you installed the two updates: Open Windows/Microsoft Update and check for updates, you should see updates for Office 2010 SP2 after waiting a while. Yay! You should now update Office 2010 to its final updates. But if you're on XP, read below (hint: it's not good news). This has been successfully tested on a Vista VM with Office 2010 SP2 installed. If you're doing this on XP, be aware that the newer updates for Office 2010 SP2 break the Office 2010 programs (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) on XP. Go here for more info Personally, on XP, I stick with Office 2007 because those newer Office 2010 updates break Office, as stated above.

  8. Actually, I didn't, but now I did: yes, music is my interest, the only music I posted in the "What Are You Listening To?" topic is this.

  12. I wish I could say I didn't used to use them but that would be a huge lie. Many years ago, but can't go back and changes the past. I've wound up in the hospital once when I drank too many. Very bad and went along with the people I was in company with (so-called friends). Once I stopped going to clubs and bars I never looked back and don't desire anymore. I suspect some might have died, but I never kept track as they were bad energy, but I didn't see that then, looking back I don't know how I survived, honestly. But, yeah, hindsight and retrospect, of course.

  14. Oh ... haha ... I was imagining you picking up a per-owned cheap guitar or violin and strumming some new cords and making music at your home as I don't recall you posting much about music as your interest. Sometimes when I'm lonely (usually not lonely rather empty, being around other people usually is stressful for me nowadays given everything and politics here) I just shut up and pretend [self preservation] (Pick my battles) and I enjoy my instruments. Well, the ones I didn't pawn myself. Lost many during bad times in life. Hard to explain.

  18. ok. already repacked the resources.pak file with the 155.json regular file. replaced the chrome.dll with my modified one. copied the user data folder over and all is fine. so i now have the 360ChromePortable_13.5.2022_rebuild_2_regular_MSFN i guess. edit. translate to english broken with the regular 155.json and chrome.dll replacement. something must have changed in the 13.5.2022 r2 other files. will have a closer look ... edit. found it. using the googled resources.pak file from mixit solved the issue. something other then the 155.json file must have changed to break the "translate to english" function.

  20. Thanks, @soggi. From earlier posts, it does appear that change to UXP was causing the buggy backspace/delete behavior that others complained about. Luckily, upstream added a hidden pref to revert to the old behavior, which @luweitest found: But from the description of the change, it sounds like it really should have been website-specific, not just a browser-wide true/false pref, so it could be set to false for those websites that malfunction when the pref is set to true. But we only have the browser-wide pref. So what if you find a website that won't work unless you set it to false? If that happens. I'd suggest modifying @AstroSkipper's latest "custom button" to toggle the above pref; then you can just switch the pref between true and false as needed.

And it looks like @NotHereToPlayGames is not interested in me being be here, "'cause your're on Vista" crap. So I'm helping only out of respect to @Dave-H.

  24. No. The real problem is that the legacy extension Custom Buttons is targeting the UXP browsers and is not a webextension which is actually required for installing in Mypal 68. Exactly! In any case, the extension Custom Buttons 0.0.5.8.9.6-fixed8 can't be installed in Mypal 68. What you see in my provided screenshot as proof, is another, special, modified version of Custom Buttons, and additional changes have to be made in the confoguration of Mypal 68, too. Anyway! I posted my find or "news" more than one week ago, but I haven't seen any genuine interest so far. You are the first one who expresses such an interest. Thanks for that! In any case, it will still need a bit more time as I am not in the best of health at the moment. And, I never post a solution that has not actually been tested. Not to mention that I would be happy if more members were interested, of course. But, as I like to say, hope dies last!

  25. Myself = somewhat of a button fanatic, similar to you. I have recently begun to use MyPal 68, and of course lost all of my UXP related extensions, including some for buttons. I have been looking for compatible replacements, and your announcement is very encouraging ! I just tried to install Custom Buttons [which I first downloaded] from your linked page, and MyPal 68.12.beta5 says that the extension is corrupted. This seems odd, because I can open the XPI file manually on my local hard drive, and can see and examine the other files which are inside of it. Am I doing something wrong ? You said something about needing to make additional changes in the browser. Is that what I still need to do ? And is that what you will be explaining in "More on this topic soon" ? Thanks.

  26. SURE, me too! Personally never drinking these, I'm OK with my energy! Side effects of too much caffeine include: Increased heart rate High blood pressure Heart palpitations Insomnia Dehydration Restlessness Caffeine withdrawal is associated with headache, marked fatigue, anxiety, tremors and irritability. Energy drinks also contain other substances touted to improve energy, such as taurine, ginseng, vitamin B, carnitine and bitter orange...".

  35. Unexpected news! The unbelievable has come true. I would never have thought that this was possible. I have always been annoyed that my self-written custom buttons for the old, legacy UXP browsers like Firefox 52, Pale Moon, New Moon, Serpent, and so on can no longer be used in Mypal 68. The reason for this is that the extension Custom Buttons is a legacy extension and only compatible with the already mentioned UXP browsers, actually. I emphasize actually! For months, I've been searching on and off for a solution to still be able to use these custom buttons in Mypal 68. And what can I say? My persistence seems to have been rewarded now. As it looks at the moment, I managed to install a modified version of the extension Custom Buttons in Mypal 68. Some additional changes in Mypal 68 were also still necessary for this, of course. Furthermore, I have been able to successfully install my custom button "Toggle CSF" via this modified extension in Mypal 68. As far as I can see, both, the extension Custom Buttons and my custom button "Toggle CSF" which I already posted for the UXP browsers here https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1229561, work fine and are fully functional in Mypal 68. If you don't immediately understand what's so special about all this, just try installing the extension Custom Buttons in Mypal 68 yourself, and you will see! Here is a screenshot of my installations as proof: More on this topic soon. Will have to investigate and test it all in more detail first! Of course, it takes a little time, and unfortunately I still have to take it easy to finally get rid of this damn cough. So, stay tuned if interested! Cheers, AstroSkipper
