  2. Posts in Funny Farm section does not increase post count. PS: I'm a member of a forum that uses badges and they had badges for "posts in a day" such as 10, 100, 250, 500 and 1000. I think on that forum no one got to 1000 posts in a day but I did manage to get 500 posts in a day. But since multiple members attempted the 500 posts in a day badge on the same day, the Admin decided that giving a badge for 500 (or 1000) posts in a day was a bad idea.

  6. well this country ain't perfect, but compare it to many other countries we are doing very well. If I would move away from every country border I don't like I would be living in the moon.

  7. Although the Puppy Linux problem is still there- running the modified browsers with WINE takes much too long with Deviantart.com- it works well within tolerable limits in XP mode on that ancient Sony. So the people here managed to overcome the stupidity and inefficient actions of people out to complicate things for older hardware. This proves that with good software old hardware need not be obsolete. That is a real accomplishment. Thanks from anyone with older hardware unable to "upgrade," and keep up the good work.

  8. Russian Citizens Are Now Being Prepped for Nuclear War HEATING UP Russian state TV is increasingly hysterical in its forecasts of an upcoming war, warning domestic audiences that the conflict could even become nuclear. 9. I'm curious as well. NEITHER one will work for American Water billpay. BUT it has always been my perception that 52 is more advanced that 55, despite the numbering confusion of 55 being higher than 52.

  10. Finland luckily seems to be good place for now. Atleast if you live outside biggest cities. Here masks are not mandatory, covid pass is used at minimum but is currently being dropped. Also lack of vac is not issue if you wont watch TV too much. Overall you should not watch and read news too much and if read not let it control your life. Also fact I wont live big cities gives me even more control. These areas are mostly forest, nobody bothers you if you wont bother them and so on. Things could be better here, but when I compare effects here vs in US or Australia for example we survived rather well. Australia situation is scary from what I read. It is prison island these days. I hope things in your country would be somewhat ok and you would not suffer from any big issues there.

  11. Whether or not you're a fan of the Firefox redesign, it looks like it's here to stay. Thanks to win32's Extended Kernel, it's also on Vista. Unfortunately it doesn't work well with Aero and kinda looks like this: There's a weird white gradient covering the top of the browser including the windows buttons. It may be that I'm just bad at Googling but I didn't find a guide on how to fix this very simple (and very niche) problem. I'm also not a programmer so this took me an awful long time to figure out (considering it's just CSS). Since us Vista holdouts probably appreciate the pretty glass transparency of Vista here's my sort-of fix for the gradient. Step 1 - Enable Firefox customization According to this, you'll need to toggle a setting before you can customize Firefox. To do this, go to about:config and look for the toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets toggle and set it to true. Then go to about:profiles and open the root directory of the default-release profile. Here you need to make a folder named chrome where you will place the CSS file used to customize Firefox. This file will be named userChrome.css Step 2 - Make everything transparent! Everything in the copybox below literally just makes the different parts of the browser transparent. I've also made the URL box semi-transparent unless focused like IE 9 which I always thought was pretty neat. Just copy-paste this into userChrome.css. /* Removes colour from the tabs bar */ #TabsToolbar{ background-image: none !important; color: white !important; } /* Changes background and text colour for the navigation bar */ #nav-bar{ background: transparent !important; color: white !important; } /* Makes the bookmark and add on bars transparent for more Aero goodness */ #PersonalToolbar, #addon-bar{ background: transparent !important; color: white !important; } /* Changes the colour of the navigation buttons */ .toolbarbutton-1{ fill: white !important; } /* Makes the URL bar semi-transparent like IE */ #urlbar > #urlbar-background{ background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.7) !important; } /* Makes the URL bar solid when in focus*/ #urlbar[focused] > #urlbar-background{ background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 1) !important; } Step 3 - Restart the browser Here's what it looks like with the changes: That's all! It's embarrassing how long this took me and hopefully this helps someone save some time. r/FirefoxCSS and what remains of my high school web design class was what I used to figure stuff out. It's a little hard to see the text in the inactive tabs behind a white background so I'm trying to figure out how to make it more legible. If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve this (and help my poor eyes see these better ) I would appreciate that.

  12. Maybe this is a good opportunity to go to confession... I went to confession recently, and I feel much better now, as if all that I was carrying on my back suddenly disappeared! And on Sunday I will take communion! And you do what your conscience tells you.

  13. Wanna test something? Backup sector 0 of the drive, then fill it with zeroes. Then reboot and see if Windows loads. You can use i.e. the HxD hex editor, or the sector editor in Bootice, or some other suitable program.

  14. It's mainly about performance. 55 renders javascript better, it handles sites like Twitter better and is just faster in my experience. It is also a later version that can install certain useful addons that 52 can't such as the container tab add-on. @NotHereToPlayGames It is and can render most sites that 55 can't. That's why we want to get UXP features ported to it so it's equal to 52.

  18. I would say problem is modern web and not Palemoon. W3C been bought out by big G and other big corpos. They dropped all actually useful things like marquee, tables and then gave it CSS replacements that wont work at all. And everytime they release those end user would need to upgrade browser to view site using it. Code keep getting more and more complex to do same task. Consider how easy tables were. Compare it to CSS replacement of it. That is why I keep referring web standards as broken. Last proper standard was XHTML but it was dropped when W3C was bought out. Palememe based browsers in other hand lack many antifeatures of modern browser like webrtc, WASM is easy toggle off as it is security risk, EME DRM. Also it got smaller codebase.

  19. Sorry about leaving that out- that Sony is Windows XP Home Edition. It also has 32MB video RAM, although SwiftShader may add to that, given how often it solves "C0000005" error messages. Funny thing- I downloaded Beetlebug 3 and tried to run it. Failure, not uncommon with that Sony. Dropped in SwiftShader, game worked but was too clumsy to play well due to not-so-good frame rate. Set it to "windowed" mode as usual (default was "fullscreen"), shut it down, then on a hunch tried again without SwiftShader- game works great. It crashes in fullscreen mode clearly, and without SwiftShader there would have been no way to get it running- I could not find a way to manually set it. It has been a bad week. My mother died from covid. Yesterday I had to make the funeral arrangements, and the medical bills may wipe me out. I'm not really able to concentrate too well, I guess. How could I have left out something that basic?

  21. I'll be keeping my 360Chrome around even once Mypal 2.0 shows up. They (and Humming Owl's, from what I see) have basically matured to the point of nothing else to really do for them, use them as-is from here on out. I would like to see progress made on the "compile" front, but I cannot take the lead on that. Too steep of a learning curve.

  22. sometimes you could try close your ears and eyes from world problem out of your reach for a day or even a week and try enjoy life. I have done it and it feels very good. I am not saying blissfully ignore it but have few days off from it. Finnish attitude atleast on more traditional guys like me is not worry too much from things that you cant change. At the end some want you to worry all the time to keep you hooked. All is going crazy but at the end I am happy for what I got. I gotta admit stumbling on this board was one of best things happened on internet as it proved I am not alone with my thoughts.

  24. @we3fan JFYI: http://reboot.pro/index.php?showtopic=21165 In some cases (but not always) there is a setting in BIOS that allows to remap memory and recover some RAM as available, as well in some cases you can use part of that for a Gavotte Ramdisk (useful for - say - temporary data). jaclaz

  25. Not really a BBS, but i used to play the MUD game Medievia with my friends some 20-ish years ago. I see that it's still active, lol. Unfortunately, the client i used back then (zMUD) won't run in my XP. Here is a site listing current MUD games - http://www.topmudsites.com/ The Discworld one sounds interesting :P P.S. have you checked eXoDOS yet?

  28. I've updated Beta 5 with command line option. It's similar to imagex.exe. WinNTSetup_x64 capture C:\ X:\install.wim "Name" "Description" -compress lzx -silent or a console version WinNTSetup_x64 capture-cli C:\ X:\install.wim "Name" "Description" -compress lzx -silent -silent switch will automatically close WinNTSetup after capture.
