  1. I'm back! Sorry I've been out of sight for so long. See my profile for more info. Anyway, the Clean Flash Installer is up to 34.0.0.164175. The latest version should always be at the top of this page: https://github.com/CleanFlash/installer/releases. I have it working in IE (who cares) and Basilisk on both XP and 7. Although Flash works in Chrome up to version 87, I assume there's no hope for Chromium-based Edge on Win 7? Edge versions as far back as 77 just display a brief "not supported after December 2020" bar at the top. Doesn't even stay onscreen long enough to read! Apparently Edge has its own time-bomb independent of the ones in Flash 32. The batch file version of Clean Flash is more recent than the installer version: 34.0.0.175. It's near the top of this page (scroll down to the Windows version): https://github.com/darktohka/clean-flash-builds/releases

  2. The machine in question only had one IDE channel on the main board, which was detected by the OS as the primary channel. The IDE on the sound card was not detected by the BIOS but only by the OS (and designated as secondary channel), so one could not boot the machine from a HDD connected to that channel. I don't recall if there was any jumper on the sound card that would specifically choose which channel should the IDE be assigned to. If your main board already had two IDE channels then the OS would indeed have had trouble with a third one on the sound card, since only with the advent of SATA did the Windows OS start to acknowledge and configure more than two IDE channels - something the Win9x line doesn't do AFAIK. To mount an additional HDD to that particular machine it would need an extra IDE channel, either built into a soundcard or separate as an ISA card. The machine only has ISA slots and a VESA slot - no PCI. Any IDE2SATA adapters should be compatible with the old IDE/ATA standard employed by such ISA card. I vaguely remember having a few "newer" (at the time) HDDs that wouldn't be detected by the BIOS at all due to certain differences between the board IDE controller's standard and the standard used in the HDDs, so an adapter may face the same problem. BIOS hot swapping works but one must be extremely careful with every aspect of the operation. It's crucial that the chips are the exact same model or pin to pin compatible if they come from different brands/manufacturers. Sometimes they may be pin to pin compatible but operate with different voltage (i.e. 3.3V vs 5V, or 5V vs 12V), so that should also be taken into account. Two apparently identical main boards may use completely different chips so don't take board ID for granted. Accurate chip datasheets are mandatory.

  3. I have yet to find a way, as 2019's x64 installer crashes early on (for now). And implementation of 32 bit functions for the x86 installers is forthcoming. There were no formal bundled updates until November, as things were just added in at will. So it will be impossible to do so for that period. Too busy for November to May. But now that the structure of the project is evolving, there should be one for the next release, likely in August or September.

  4. Seems the WSUS proxy has "sort of" been fixed. In that they added a 30-second timeout to each Windows Update request. Now when you run it, one of the requests times out. I take it that's the request for Office updates: [Sun Jul 18 12:51:38 2021] 127.0.0.1:9075 [200]: /?/ClientWebService/client.asmx [Sun Jul 18 12:53:45 2021] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 second s exceeded in C:\Program Files\WSUS\src\index.php on line 188 [Sun Jul 18 12:53:45 2021] 127.0.0.1:9077 [200]: /?/ClientWebService/client.asmx - Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\Program Files\WSUS\src\in dex.php on line 188 [Sun Jul 18 12:53:45 2021] 127.0.0.1:9079 Invalid request (An existing connectio n was forcibly closed by the remote host. ) [Sun Jul 18 12:53:46 2021] 127.0.0.1:9082 [200]: /?/ClientWebService/client.asmx [Sun Jul 18 12:53:46 2021] 127.0.0.1:9084 [200]: /?/ClientWebService/client.asmx You old-timers may recall that we used to have this kind of problem with Windows Update when a "cumulative" update had been superseded many times (about 30 IIRC). Windows update would sometimes run for DAYS! My suspicion is that something similar happened with Office 2010 SP2. Oh, well; we can still download the final updates via the catalog.

  5. That is to be expected. 360Chrome is a multi-process browser, New Moon is not. Here is a good read on the topic, I suggest Googling it if you are really interested - https://helgeklein.com/blog/modern-multi-process-browser-architecture/

  6. You mean internet explorer I think. The problem can be created from a number module function failures. Sometimes a third party application will update Oleaut32 to an early WinXP version and this will mean that the script processing will not work. The pie graph script processing is not included into the newer versions. If Msvcrt has not got the old functions in it then this will cause the problem as well. Msvcrt usually has all the old functions in it, it is when we substitute some different modules for Msvcrt is when we may encounter some missing functions. Look for modified system files whether by accident or installed ones.

  7. Here you are. https://gir.st/blog/greenpass.html It contains a number of (partly personal/sensible) data. I would not be preoccupied by the privacy aspect, there is nothing seemingly more than the barely needed info, but name, surname and date of birth are exposed (like on *any* other piece of ID), I would not share an image of a real one like I wouldn't post an image of my driving licence. jaclaz

  8. Is the information entirely encoded on the EU certificate itself because the barcode area is so large, or just a serial number for searching in a database as it is with various smartcards? Well, politics, medical advice and personal difficulties are off-topic on a technology forum. Such debates could quickly overwhelm the forum, make it look "unprofessional" and cause division among members.

  9. Updated the v9, v11 and v12. There are minor changes to the text in the browser's interface. The "en_skin.srx" was removed but the contents of it where replaced on the "iframe.srx" and "skin.srx" files. I have the previous v9, v11 and v12 in a backup if something happens. Cheers.

  10. So expressing discontentment with forced vaccinations is also forbidden? I see the censorship has already hit this thread. Freedom of speech is being restricted wherever you look, and that's a BIG, very BIG issue at large.

  11. In order to use Cisco Webex on Windows XP you have to 1) Download the modified v12 version from this thread, extract it with 7z in a folder you want and press escape only the first time you open it (download link from first post: https://www.mediafire.com/file/pjthbixelfylwhd/360EE_12.0.1592.0_Modified.7z/file) 2) Install this extention by going to this site: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg 3) Right click on the icon that appears up right after installing it and click on settings. 4) Add a new user agent string so that webex.com thinks you are logging in from a Windows 10 device like this one that works from me: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/91.0.4472.164 Safari/537.36 To do that, after clicking on settings, copy paste the above user agent string on the field "New User-Agent String", put a name on the field "New User-agent name" and a number on the field "Indicator Flag". I just put 1. Press ADD 5) Go to https://signin.webex.com just click on the icon of the extention, select chrome and then the name of your user agent string. The page will refresh. If you want to deactivate it, just select chrome and then default. This will enable sites to see that you are using a Windows XP computer again. Note: The sign in button does not work for me on webex.com with this version of 360 so i log in from this url: https://signin.webex.com/

  12. Another old nokia user . I am getting 3330 (3310 with csd) soon and was able find multiple brand spare batteries from multiple local stores still which amazes me. Same applies siemens and samsung phones from late 1990-early 2000 found spare batteries to all. Good luck trying find half decent non oem replacement to modern anti repair smart phone. I can swap battery in seconds with only using hands from every phone I own. I hope same here too. Elisa will kill 3g here soon. It is shame but not end of world as long as 2g remains. It will atleast over 2023. I assume coverage issues with 4g and amount of users still on 2g wont cause it go away. I do not want world with only smartphones, smart cars etc. ^This. I got no smartphone but can still talk to my friends even some have moved other side of planet. There was communication methods before smartphones. And if your friends are real friends they do not put you smartphone as requiment to talk They have. They have proved to hijack smart cars, hacking smartlocks, smart fridges, disabling power lines etc. to show weaknesses of them but peoples are willing to ignore all those issues because "why would someone attack me I have nothing to hide and never done anything wrong". Bot that is trying find attack surface does not care what who you are, they will try every address on range. I have had some port scanning my firewall and wonder how long smart car or other would stand it.

  13. The WAN Miniports were always there but are usually just not shown. There are some instances where a LAN installation on XP goes bad and is evidenced by the WAN Miniports appearing in Device Manager under Network Adapters. I noticed that I let out an audible groan this morning when I went to unlock my Win 10 PC, after seeing that it takes more than 2 seconds to unlock. This means that some update installed overnight and restarted the computer.

  14. For actual voice-chatting, Teamspeak 2 can be used too, even on Windows 98! Public servers worldwide exist, which can be connected to without much effort. The codecs of TS2 might sound a bit old fashioned though, but they are efficent.

  16. So, you have Flash installed in your system, but not in the browser? Why keep it then? Just to fill a few MB on your drive? No, the most "dangerous" software to use on your PC is Windows10. It hijacks your whole system, and you're even happy for this, lol... I want to play my flash games, screw "unknown vulnerabilities"
