FWIW, there's nothing "standard" about NM27 here ; to add to what Mathwiz has posted: "Pale Moon" is an upstream browser application, which has a GUI from the pre-Australis Fx era; also, members here must understand the distinction between platform and application (Mozilla are the ones to blame for this confusion, because they had equated the Mozilla platform, not used solely by Fx, to their main browser, Firefox) ... When PM was at its major version 27 (did not support XP, Vista support was rudimentary), the platform it was built on was called Tycho, a fork of the Mozilla ESR 38 platform - the browser engine of PM27 was called Goanna version 3. The roytam1 fork derived from PM27 was/is New Moon 27 (NM27) ; as the web became more-and-more Googl-ised , PM27/Tycho started being crippled at loading many popular sites, so "upstream" (MCP) abandoned the Tycho platform and moved on, first to UXP Take 1 (aka Moebius), forked from a Mozilla 53.0a1 platform snapshot, and soon after to UXP Take 2 (just UXP now), forked from Mozilla ESR 52[.6] platform; PM27 became PM28; Pale Moon is currently at v33.0, but it's still built on UXP; both the paltform (UXP) and the browser application (PM) are being developed independently from Mozilla/Firefox... When upstream (MCP) abandoned Tycho (and PM27), roytam1 chose to keep his forked platform and browser (NM27) for the sake of Win2k/XP users on very old H/W, that doesn't support the SSE2+ instruction set ; as of this writing, NM27 and its browser engine, Goanna 3, is being "updated" based on a new "upstream", the developer (rmottola) behind the Artic-Fox project; this project aims to develop a (semi-)usable browser on old Macs, unsupported by Apple and the mainstream browser vendors; the project strives to "uplift" the browser from a Mozilla 38 platform snapshot (like in PM27/Tycho) to more recent versions, hence the large number of weekly updates (there's a lot of catching-up to do when you're still at a Fx mid-40s level) ... Also, Arctic-Fox isn't New Moon 27, hence several bugs that plague the latter are being reported by (the few?) NM27 users... To put it bluntly, I have now no need for this fork, because its web-compatibility is severely impaired in 2024; in addition to that, Roy is publishing SSE-compatible builds of NM28+St52, so if your old H/W can cope, it's advisable you use these instead of NM27... NM27 has inherited from PM27 a "status-4-ever" internal component, but as the platform is being updated by rmottola to Fx43+, this component has been partially BROKEN, breaking with it several download-related functions/extensions/userstyles/userscripts etc.; I have kept, for archival purposes, a NM27 build from 20220812, which seems to be the last with no such issues... As for NM28 (and St52), this is being updated mostly by backporting MCP code, especially in the platform aspect of it, and occasionally PM-specific (and Bk-specific) code is also being backported; and don't let the appVersion (28) confuse you ; Roy, for reasons he has explained in the past, decided to "freeze" the major version at 28, but latest NM28 embeds platform code to be found even in the latest PM33 "official" release ...4 points

I'm not "Self-described", I was born in the nineties. I currently reside in Canada, which is shown at my profile. When and where did I tell I look for a Vista browser? When and where did I tell I want to use a year old browser? Did a quick look at your profile, clearly you're way out of line with many people on your daily basis, and it even looks like the whole purpose of your presence is to insinuate scandals only. You're rude, too obvious you're poorly educated, don't know how to behave yourself with women. Leave me alone, thanks.3 points

Didn't you say it was a content security policy (CSP) issue? What now? Anyway! There are different situations I have to disable CSP. Ok! It's just best to check things out for yourself. It is definitely no Content Security Policy (CSP) issue. The website https://www.skyrc.com/Charger/t1000 works with CSP enabled in Serpent 55, too.3 points

These come via the platform (UXP) "updates" and are being implemented (when possible) by MCP himself (who has private access to them through Mozilla); if they're uploaded to the official UXP repo, then sure they'll be integrated/backported to Roy's fork of UXP (off-the-top-of-my-head, last summer's webp vulnerability was also patched "here"); be advised that a large number of Firefox "security fixes" involve e10s, as that isn't implemented in UXP, they won't make it onto "our" browsers... ... Tsk, bad on you, dear friend ... Best wishes2 points

According to @Vistapocalypse, and I quote: Blaukovitch Reinhard, a proud Russian, presumably resides in Austria, he is Managing Director of Denuvo, he creates several (!) public pages in English, Russian, presumably other languages, all with his real name, where he proudly declares himself a cr_acker of Denuvo copy-protected Opera, Brave, etc, calls all his projects "Cr_acks" acknowledges he cracks Denuvo (!) and Securom, teaches how to do it, and accuses the Western companies of Evilness, Did I miss anything? Oh, oops, I've missed his racism part, but it's already criticized well enough at git. What further evidence of profanity is required? Whose profanity is that, everyone decides for himself.2 points

Have either of you ever tried to "allow more RAM" for 32 bit apps with a simple CFF Explorer fix? (It's an edit in their executable)2 points

I've been running without page file for decades, as of now 16GB is more than enough to switch it off for Supermium, on the other hand, I agree with you, don't do it if you RAM is 8GB or less.2 points

jaclaz, you're right ! Cheap/basic models of Fujitsu are/were indeed "Made in Taiwan" . Middle class and up - Western Germany. A good example would be Celsius or Esprimo. Let's search for any picture of their motherboards from various years and zoom to see they're not asian. D2317-A1 (2005-06 or so) zoom the area near the barcode. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/CfMAAOSwYEJgfnRo/s-l1600.jpg You can also search for some oldies : D2584 (mobo from FUJITSU SIEMENS Esprimo), D2587, D3011 (FUJITSU SIEMENS from 2010) or even the newer ones for Kaby Lake still says Europe (the area near the CPU). model Nr. D3441-S2 https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/oBoAAOSwxK5izaeR/s-l1600.jpg Now what did they mean by "Europe" ? Italy ? France ? Holland ? One could only guess. I see the French Thomson components on these boards, Philips and other major European manufacturers. And yes, I did look at their internals, opened up lots of their notebooks and monitors. For example, 22 inches and up have Philips or Fujitsu guts, again, not cheap. Cheaper ones usually have LG(Philips) inside of them, LG doesn't have any designs/LCDs of their own, it's all made by Philips and is owned by Philips since 1999-2000. LG-Philips LCD is the world's second (now 1st?) largest maker of ... liquid-crystal displays used for flat screens ... https://www.nytimes.com/2000/11/28/business/lg-of-korea-and-philips-set-screen-making-venture.html Now you all can do whatever you want with your choice of goods, while I continue to support Germany financially.2 points

You're right! It was Serpent 55 - D'oh! Yes, the screenshot was taken from my Serpent 55. My main browser is New Moon 28. If a website doesn't load properly there, I try Serpent 55 at next. These browsers can be customized exactly to the user's need. One reason why I love them and continue to use them. Only if both fail, I give 360Chrome a try.2 points

There is a working method to disable the signature check for add-ons to allow installation of unsigned or modified add-ons in Mypal 68 and of course other Firefox versions as for example FF 78. I implemented that in my installation months ago. Therefore, I am able to modify existing add-ons without any (re)signing. That was one of the reasons I could install the actually legacy add-on Custom Buttons in Mypal 68: In the screenshot of the just linked post, you can notice that there is no warning after installing the legacy, unsigned add-on Custom Buttons in Mypal 68.2 points

So I take it when the newest Serpent 52 is released, is that really just the latest version of Basilisk ported to XP/Vista? Likewise, if I use the latest version of New Moon 28, is that really the same as Pale Moon 33x? Without getting into confusing changelogs, how different are they?1 point

Hi Env: Win 7 sp1 + convenience rollup fix. Prb: keep certificates updated. i want to know if the procedure described in this msfn topic is applicable also to Win 7 https://msfn.org/board/topic/175170-root-certificates-and-revoked-certificates-for-windows-xp/ (My win 7 is stable, i want to avoid to install code with updates that continuosly suggests migrating to win 10) Thanks in advance Maurizio1 point

No. But maybe try the ScanFiles.cmd. You could use it to populate the source combo box.1 point

Hi we3fan, it's a regular MBR scheme, 3 primary and 2 extended [edit: one extended with 2 volumes, can never remember the jargon]. Extended partitions can have operating systems, the only thing they can't have is a boot manager (which goes on one of the primary partitions). On a different box now, but this one has similar layout.1 point

It's because you run x86 apps on a 64bit OS. Obviously it involves more resources since OS runs them in a wrapper (those are marked with*). @66catsis right, I can confirm. The same case is with Supermium.1 point

... Nope, Mathwiz is correct; at the time MCP cut UXP (Take 2, to be precise) from the Mozilla ESR 52 platform, the platform was at its 52.6 release point... https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP/commits/branch/master?page=1471 point

Only two nations on earth have over a billion people. Both of them have good relations with Putin’s Russia, albeit not with one another. If Blaukovitch has denounced one of Putin’s allies, that suggests to me that he is not a Putin loyalist, so your point escapes me.1 point

Thank you for confirming that Russophobia is your real concern about Blaukovitch. Reinhard presumably resides in Austria, since he is Managing Director of Denuvo - but if he can write in Russian, what further evidence would a Russophobe require? No need to PM me any Russian links: I can’t read Russian. Dave-H could lock this topic as far as I’m concerned, since your earlier efforts have been surpassed by a “Russian cracker” now.1 point

Upon further research, Reinhard Blaukovitch of GitHub appears to be “the founder and Managing Director of Denuvo...” See “About the Author” beneath this Denuvo blog written by Blaukovitch: https://blog.irdeto.com/video-gaming/bots-are-invading-your-mobile-games-get-ready-to-take-them-on/ He might not appreciate being called a “Russian cracker,” but I don’t think MSFN is imperiled by any mention of his GitHub projects.1 point

Unless I am mistaken, nothing discussed in this thread would work unless Vista x64 has been modified in violation of Microsoft’s EULA, so this concern about modifying Opera seems rather hypocritical. To his credit, the developer of extended kernel for Vista x64 has “gone straight” and currently devotes his efforts to modifying open-source Chromium (Supermium), which is perfectly legal AFAIK.1 point

Mine doesn't even redirect to that web page, just stays on a blank screen with a black frame around it. Tried in both Serpent 52/55.1 point

The certificate files are downloaded directly from Microsoft, so they would have to add any additional ones. Individuals can always add extra certificates to their own stores manually of course, including that one.1 point

I think @D.Draker actually meant @UCyborg but he mixed it up a bit as @UCyborg is from Slovenia. Yep, that's why I am on the sunny side of the street. The motherboard of my old computer is from 2000. Therefore, no problems here to use all old DOS tools. It must be an advantage to be a dinosaur for once. By the way, HDAT2 has always been part of my emergency collection of CDs/DVDs.1 point

That's what low level format means nowadays. So not no but yes. Before disposing of or smashing a hard disk, one should explore and try all options. I have said before, I am a non-believer. So no faith here in anything. Trial and error is an appropiate method, though.1 point

@roytam1! Do you know if there are or were any attempts to localize MailNews? Binary Outcast seems to provide Interlink Mail & News in English only. Same for your release of MailNews. New Moon can be localized by existing language packs after some modifications in terms of dev tools. I already did that for the German language pack, and it works great which can be found here: My German language pack for New Moon 28 For Serpent, there is a project on board.eclipse.cx. But in the case of MailNews, I found absolutely nothing. All existing language packs for Thunderbird don't work anymore as expected due to all changes that have been made. I should still mention at this point that I am currently in the process of developing a German language pack for MailNews from scratch to use this great email client in my native language. I do that in form of a private project at the moment. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

I wrote about email clients in this thread: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184410-xpvista-compatible-clients-for-modern-email-services/?do=findComment&comment=1238445 . I tested IceDove and MailNews. The main diffrence I noticed is MailNews supports Oauth2, IceDove unfortunately not. Oauth2 is an important protocol for authentication. A lot of email service providers use it nowadays as for example Gmail. MailNews is simply great and works with all my email service providers. It can easily enhanced by installing legacy extensions. At least, that's what I did.1 point

I have never used that code to clean up the CryptnetUrlCache in the form of a batch file. I am not a fan of automatical solutions to delete files. I usually do manual cleaning in terms of the CryptnetUrlCache when necessary, i.e., if there are correspondent errors in the event log.1 point

So we may safely assume those are win10 ported drivers . Why ? There are no 372.93 and 373.19 windows 7 drivers . I looked at some others (older ones) I received from FS and all of the numbers correspond to their windows 10 versions (!), but not win7. Like 369.09 and 39 https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/236586/nvidia-driver-36909-/ BTW , looked at 373.19 again , it supports all 1000 series cards , including GTX 1050 Ti , only the lowest end GT1030 is missing.1 point

You're welcome ! I'm sorry for your 30 Euro down the drain . If only you lived nearby ... I could solder them for free . Buy an office Siemens board, where it could be disabled in BIOS , yes , there are some boards like that , for your 775 socket also . A good example would be Q35 chipset boards where Siemens folks made an option to disable it completely , even with a password protected setting , so no one could revert it back! I'm guessing could be found for 10-20 euro max in Germany.1 point
