  1. FYI, I have just fixed the sporadic loading errors of the filter list "Online Malicious URL Blocklist (AdGuard)" in uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.32. The fix will be provided with my next release. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  2. You're welcome! I am pleased to hear that my mod is working for you as it should. This thread was created by me so that everything about extensions and custom buttons for UXP browsers can be posted. You can find all the important links immediately in the first three posts of this thread. Right from the start, I have paid attention to a good and well thought-out structure. My mods, forks and custom buttons are offered here with important information. There will be no decoupling from this thread. In my mods uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 and uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.32, I therefore have implemented a link to the corresponding article with the title "Information" on the About tab for regular checking. Current updates can therefore be found very easily. An automatic update service will not happen. Although I do not need to do that, I am happy to share my work, which is of course very time-consuming, but potential users also need to do their bit by visiting this thread from time to time, reading, searching and asking for information and, above all, leaving feedback. Experiences, suggestions and reporting of issues are particularly important. On the other hand, any form of automatism is counterproductive and generally leads to inertia. I'm not in the mood for that.

  5. Dave, I don't have experience with Windows 10, but in the past I successfully restored a damaged VHD for a friend with the help of Recuva. 7. The off-line variety should've been downloaded ... https://cdn.epicbrowser.com/v120/mini_installer.exe And, this is just an educated guess , Epic-120 should require at least Win10 ... EDIT: There has been info by another member that, in fact, it does launch under Win7 ...

  8. Everyone, don't worry! @win32will fix the leak! I trust it will happen, I already wrote a new launcher for Supermium. What I don't know, will the overbright/blurry fonts issue be addressed. I got a heavy eye fatigue due to this fact, hence I can't use Supermium,

  11. Your perfectly know - I do, even though it's my eighth language, no wait, eleventh. The way you talk is extremely rude. Yes, "I do comprehend". What I don't, why the hell you're allowed to behave like that. MSFN, really? It works even on Chrome 60 (from a decade ago), MSFN isn't the best testing grounds otu there, while almost everyone these days uses youtube and/or gmail.

  12. @anton12 As already described in previous posts, you can easily fix this bug yourself manually, strictly following the commit https://github.com/roytam1/UXP/commit/1116e8e137a3525b8313505a71894bb50af816d6 @roytam1 kindly posted. Works great here.

  13. Wow! What a huge list! Do you know what every flag means? What time does it take for the browser to start with such a list?

  15. Dave, does the new mobo has the same BIOS?
    2 points
  16. Right! If you look at my screenshot taken from New Moon 28, you will notice that there isn't a problem with the colours of the flags as far as I can see. It rather seems to be a problem with your browser. Try, for example, to change your colour scheme and check your graphic settings! But TBH, not realy important. What did you say about my changes? It was a lot of hard work if I may be honest at this point.

  17. LOL, but seriously, when you look at the hardware manufactured today, you cannot not notice the insignificance of the old gear. Not that you couldn't make a lighter browser, just don't expect it from Google. Though such browser probably couldn't support all the mess they've thought up should be supported by a web browser. I didn't mention FF or Mozilla specifically. There's still Moonchild Productions and The SeaMonkey Association.

  18. I have a problem with my Windows 10 installation! As can be seen from my signature, I have a triple boot machine. Windows XP and Windows 98 are absolutely fine. What happened was that I changed my motherboard as the original developed a fault. The replacement is exactly the same board, same make and model. All was working fine until suddenly, I couldn't boot into Windows 10, I just got an "Inaccessible Boot Drive" BSOD. I tried everything I could think of to fix this, there seemed to be no physical problem, the Windows 10 drive could be accessed fine from XP and 98, and all the files seemed to be there. A chkdsk run on XP did find some problems, and apparently corrected them, but no difference in Windows 10. Automatic repairs by Windows 10 did no good at all, and booting into a recovery environment and trying to rebuild the boot with fixboot etc. also made no difference. Eventually, to cut a long story short, I gave up trying to repair whatever was wrong, and decided to restore a System Image I had made some days before. What I suspect had happened was that the boot files on the drive had got damaged somehow, and chkdsk and fixboot couldn't repair them. The restore didn't work, it went through all the motions of copying to the C: drive, and then at the very end it said it had failed because "The Parameter is Incorrect". That is one of the most annoying error messages in Windows, (second only to "Access is Denied"), as it never gives you any clue as to what the parameter is and what's wrong with it! Anyway, I tried several times and it failed every time. I've no reason to think that there's anything wrong with the System Image. Having done this, of course my original Windows 10 installation was completely trashed, leaving me with an apparently unformatted drive when looked at in XP. I then did a clean installation of Windows 10, which worked fine. However, trying the System Image restore again just produced the same result and trashed the installation again! Has anyone any idea what could be wrong here? I did wonder if the System Restore is failing because the hardware has changed, even though the replacement motherboard is the same make and model, although I've done system restores before between computers with different hardware, and it's always worked. Unfortunately I didn't do another System Image after I changed the motherboard, I wish I had now of course! Is there any way to force the System Image onto the drive, perhaps with 3rd party software? Some programs claim to be able to do what they call a 'Universal Restore' which will allow you to put a system image from one computer onto another one with different hardware. Unfortunately, most seem to only be able to do that with System Images they have generated, not ones generated with Microsoft Backup and Restore. Any suggestions very gratefully received. I just want my highly personalised version of Windows 10 back! Thanks, Dave.

  21. Question about Supermium before I dive in and try it. UI-wise, it just Chrome, correct? I wish there was a way to make a browser that looked like Chromium Edge did when it was in beta, but with today's engine.. It would be even better with tabs under the address bar. I'm just thinking out my replacement options for when Firefox ESR 115 bites the dust.

  22. Well, it's the first build for XP, the alpha. Seeing the thoroughness of its development, I trust newer versions will do better. Bottom line: the browser's settings have to be reviewed to prevent such a heavy first load in XP, it should review the requirements/resources allowed to GG flagship apps, and also - not reported before- the persistence of chrome processes after closing it, even when the settings command it to do so. I forgot to mention: I ran it with umatrix, ublock (full set of lists, as in Astroskipper's legacy + a few more), clearurl, behinf the overlay, singlefile and tampermonkey). I will keep the browser as it stands with my tweaks now, because it may allow me to enter sites I can't with sp52, mypal68, or the last mod of 360chrome by Articfoxie.

  24. I learn from everybody who has something of value to offer. You have made your valuable contributions, but they are (in my opinion, no offense intended, just the facts) of no comparison to those of @Sampei.Nihira. You'd do better were to stop offending people, particularly due to their proficiency in a second or third (for some of us, fifth or more) language, and keeping the high road. It does exist. Back on topic: in yourprofilepath, next to the default folder, one can find a file called "Local State." It holds all the chrome://flags you move out of default. As I was saying, " I'm systematically disabling flags related to: autofill, webrtc, webgl (now unnecessary, chrome finally caught up), payment, credit (reviewing card with detail, for there are some related to cards other than credit cards and smart card), share/sharing, password (most of them), sync (most of them), geolocation, and history (most of them)." Those choices get saved in "Local State". If you save that file (together with your extensions and browser settings in the "Default" folder, you can then recreate your profile from scratch, with your preferred stuff and preferences, fresh as the same day you finished customizing your browser. Which I did today. Cheers!

  25. What is good, at least you learn from me the right variants (my post link), and not replicate the errors made in @Sampei.Nihira's list.

  26. The list needs to be rechecked, from a short stare, I can see: some flags were added several times --process-per-site, for example.

  27. And here is another important note! In order to install my new mod uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.32 successfully and without any errors, please follow the instructions provided in my article! Here are the essential points once again: Backup all settings via the "Back up to file"" function in uBlock Origin. Completely uninstall the previous uBlock Origin version. Clear the browser cache. Close the browser. Manually delete the ublock0.sqlite file in your profile folder. Restart the browser. Install my mod. Import the settings from the backup file. Starting with the version uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.32, my mod has a new ID. Therefore, a clean install is mandatory. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  28. I did not confuse. In that same issue, some people, despite the issue's title, wrote about it not working on Windows XP 32-bit there too.

  29. You're right. It is not the install.rdf file. The string uBlock Origin Legacy inside this file is what is shown in the Add-ons Manager. Anyway! There are a couple of files which have to be modified, and it is more complicated as I originally thought. gorhill has created a very special, atypical and complex extension. Due to my experiences that very bad things can happen if modifying important or sensible files inside the uBlock Origin xpi file, I won't provide details about my way of modification. Please understand that! The consequence would be in the end that everyone would change something, and nothing would work afterwards. And then I have to listen to things here or elsewhere that weren't my fault. I'm not in the mood for that at all. In contrast, I definitely know what I'm doing. It's as simple as that. However, one thing is clear. Anyone can view the code of this extension themselves. It is open code and readable. Anyone with a little more in-depth knowledge knows how to identify the changes. And they are probably rather the right ones to change things. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  30. In my revised and fixed version of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.32, the issue with the empty buttons should not happen anymore. If you have further problems with my mod, or you want to post about your experiences with my mod, I would be very happy if you did that here first. Thanks! Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper

  31. @billmcct The thread "New uBlock Origin version released (Special mod by @AstroSkipper)" in the Pale Moon forum is not the support thread of my mod uBlock Origin Legacy. By the way, this thread is badly moderated and contains a lot of off-topic comments. If you had been following the thread here closely, you would have noticed that I had found a bug which I had already fixed last night, tragically at considerable expense of time. So, as I have already announced here, you will have to download my latest version 1.16.4.32 again.

  32. If you were talking about Mypal 68, then this would be unfortunately off-topic here. This thread is about legacy extensions for UXP-based browsers. Don't forget we have a thread I created especially for extensions in Mypal 68!

  33. Thanks for your report! But you are using the SSE version, and it can't be directly compared to mine. But maybe, I'm the only one who has the problem with the automatic start of the Browser Console. I'm curious what @roytam1 has to say about it. In any case, there is a problem with the Browser Console in the most recent version of New Moon 28 which wasn't there before.
    1 point
  34. Hello @roytam1! I am running your latest version of New Moon 28 installed from the file palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20240127-d849524bd-uxp-35252384aa-xpmod.7z. When opening the Browser Console (Ctrl + Shift + J) and closing then, it will open automatically every time you start the browser again. I have tried everything possible, but this stupid Browser Console now has a life of its own. That seems to me to be an issue that wasn't there before. I noticed this issue in my dirty profile but even in a clean profile, the same issue happens. Maybe, you can reproduce and hopefully fix it.

  37. 1. Why should I create an account (were I not to have one already?) and join a server purely to download a single .dll when it could simply be hosted somewhere for direct downloading? 2. Why should I trust a platform known for censorship and getting rid of parts of their community they deem problematic in any way? 3. Why should OP host these files on Discord, considering they MIGHT (keyword) fall under copyright law violations depending on what Microsoft feels like waking up tomorrow? 4. And, most importantly, why should I be forced to use a platform which violates my privacy in every single possible way?

  42. This is because the original developer of that version of chrome goes by the name of "Weolar" who is selling official support to companies around the world. Official private builds don't have restrictions like a timebomb. I don't know whether the build got released publicly or if it was leaked by someone, but assuming the first case, I think (but this is speculation) that making one build freely available to the public helps attracting commercial support, but again I'm just speculating here. All I can say is that I've been one of the very lucky people using the official private builds for quite some time (M76, M92, M108) and I reported several bugs which, eventually, got fixed, although I found some regressions in M108 which is the last one I've got (that's right, I haven't received M115 yet). One of the regressions is that if you have the "Save as" to ask you where to save the file that you download instead of saving them automatically to the download folder, it "forgets" the filename, so that it opens the prompt but there's no file name there. That bug was introduced in M92 and it got fixed in later releases but somehow got reintroduced in M108. About M108, it got several releases as the first ones led to a memory leak but that got addressed in later versions of that release (the last being from June 2023 this year). Another issue has to do with the timing and the handling of sampling in the input devices like the microphone that leads to unpleasant artifacts, crackling noises etc. This has been reported by other people (and not just me), however it never got addressed, unfortunately. It affects all version from M76 to M108. One thing you may wanna do is change the user agent, though, 'cause by default it spoofs XP as Windows 10 to the various websites. This is how I created the shortcut on my desktop, though: C:\Programmi\Chrome\chrome.exe --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/108.0.5359.125 Safari/537.36"

  44. That's why I said "don't mention any forks' name in their territory". Just doing a regular bug report using official builds and environments will be good for both sides.

  45. First, I don't break it. If someone must take responsibility for this, then it should be Mozilla and Moonchild Productions, not me. Second, you should study whats the difference between gecko 38 and 52, and how many changes do Moonchild people changed that enhance speed and security, and changes that prevents running in old windows, and how much effort I put to restore functionality on old windows. If you failed to do this, then please leave this thread.
