Thank you for the time! If you ask me, ''suspicious'' is nowhere near that six security vendors flagged the file as malicious/trojan.3 points

Yet they don't cease to write about "planned obsolescence" while that very old card is still supported and going to be supported further.3 points

Athough your post is actually quite off-topic in my thread about Mypal 68 , I can't agree with your judgement of Serpent. The CTR extension, which is available in a special version for Serpent, works perfectly and transforms a lot in this browser as it used to be. And of course, there is also the possibility to change the look and functionality of Serpent considerably via userChrome.css or scripts. Not to mention the many other extensions that exist for this browser.3 points
-
The current selection of standard search engines can only have been made by the developer of Mypal 68 who is of course @feodor2. Compared to his previous versions of Mypal 68, the available search engines have changed from time to time which was also discussed in the issues of Mypal 68. However, the process of restoring these available, default search engines is of course an original Firefox feature.3 points
-
The default search engines are inside the second omni.ja file in the subfolder browser. The exact location in this special archive file is chrome/browser/search-extensions. From there, Mypal 68 can restore its default search engines if necessary.3 points

Windows ME, Vista - used them all and still use, what mistake are you talking about? For those with 1gig of RAM? But there's a reason Vista needed more RAM, it added new functionalities. What did Windows 11 add, I mean apart from the bloatware? Now look, still too few mentions of Windows 11, even after two plus years.3 points

No, I didn't attack you, if you don't have that experience, simply say it, but don't accuse me of something I didn't do. I'm aware MSFN is an international forum, in case you have troubles reading what I ask, I'd be more than happy to translate it to your native language. Btw, it's not the first time you're unfriendly to me, I don't understand your hostility and weird behaviour.3 points

... By now, I'm sure ALL of NM28's users are aware that this browser, much like its upstream progenitor (Pale Moon), does not support any form/type of the Web Extension (WE) add-on format; be that as it may, inside NM's "about:config" tab one can find at least seven (7) prefs with the "webextension" string in their names: extensions.webExtensionsMinPlatformVersion;42.0a1 extensions.webextensions.keepStorageOnUninstall;false extensions.webextensions.keepUuidOnUninstall;false webextensions.storage.sync.enabled;false webextensions.storage.sync.serverURL;https://webextensions.settings.services.mozilla.com/v1 webextensions.tests;false webextensions.webRequest.requestBodyMaxRawBytes;16777216 Do the above still serve a purpose for New Moon? I suspect they're more tied to the platform (UXP) itself rather than the application (NM), however, given the fact NM28 is being compiled without the " --enable-webextensions" buildconfig flag, wouldn't it be more "sane" if they were absent/removed altogether from within NM28's config editor? FWIW, "Mozilla Sync" is not-a-thing-anymore for UXP-based browsers (thus, the "webextensions.storage.sync.serverURL" pref is invalid at its current, default, value , even for St52), while "Pale Moon Sync" (which fork users aren't ethically/legally entitled to use - have never tried it myself) doesn't support WE (thus, "webextensions.storage.sync.enabled;false" is redundant) ; @roytam1, your thoughts on this, please... Best wishes !2 points

Hi, I'm just curious - why you don't use capitalization for English, but use it for Russian.2 points

I know that feeling well. People like to ask questions here, but getting answers to own problems are much more difficult and rather rare. In your case, I'm not really surprised. You solve most problems yourself, leaving only the cases that require specialised knowledge. And these can only be answered by those who have specialised knowledge and skills. And there are only a few members like that in this forum. Most problems I have are usually solved by myself. I tend to present solutions and answer questions here on MSFN. But I am always particularly pleased when e.g. @feodor2 as developer of Mypal 68 supports us here with problems such as @roytam1 and others do in the legacy browser thread.2 points

Hi Roy ; for some OT-to-this-thread reason , I went inside St55's "about:config" tab (aka "advanced pref editor") and while filtering entries with "general.useragent.override.", I observed below ten results: general.useragent.override.zoho.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.soundcloud.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.mozilla.org;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.mozilla.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.github.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.firefox.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.deviantart.net;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.deviantart.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.altibox.no;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 general.useragent.override.altibox.dk;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:None) Goanna/20170101 Basilisk/55.0.0 that all have the "rv:None" slice ; this "None" value isn't resolved further at runtime when you actually visit one of the affected domains (e.g. "www.mozilla.com"), it is my conviction "None" is an invalid value for a platform revision... I dug this further and the source code file: application/basilisk/branding/shared/uaoverrides.inc has, e.g., for mozilla.com this line: pref("@GUAO_PREF@.mozilla.com","Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:@UXP_VERSION@) @UXP_DATE_SLICE@ @APP_SLICE@"); I believe this code was ported over sometime from UXP (St52/NM28/e.a.), however in St55, which is NOT a "true" UXP member, it appears "@UXP_VERSION@" resolves at build time to "None", which doesn't look right ; I just checked and NM28/St52 do not have any default SSUAOs with a "rv:None" slice, e.g. NM28 has: general.useragent.override.mozilla.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:4.8) Goanna/20230101 PaleMoon/28.10.7a1 Hopefully, this can be fixed in the next St55 release ...1 point

Forgot to reply...while it's not a daily driver, I did use it for several prolonged sessions on XP x64, also made it consume most of my then 4 GB of RAM (I'm on 6 GB now ). I doubt my profile is anything special, but I did have to setup a specific compatibility shim to prevent crashes, which I'm not sure is still needed with current versions. I wrote about it many posts ago, nobody commented on it back then if I recall correctly...what a surprise, no one ever knows anything about my issues I post on MSFN...I'm always one-man army tackling them. I don't remember ever needing to generate crash dumps on XP, I'd have to learn it from scratch as well. We have it quite straightforward these days on current systems.1 point

Here are the Spanish versions of the XPSP3 QFE Update Pack and the POSready 2009 Addon that I promised. I have been unable to remedy this, but a SFC scan does not show any errors. The addon works flawlessly when integrated into a professional edition source, but when integrated into a home edition source setuperr.log shows several OLE controls are unregistered. When you log into Windows there is a message about srclient.dll not found and the following error message is displayed: API error NTCREATEFILE. This error should never be returned by an application; it is a place holder for the Windows Lan Manager Redirector to use in its internal error mapping routines. I am baffled by the errors when the addon is integrated into a home edition source and would appreciate some insight into how to remedy this. I read your statement again. Now, I think I have understood what you have done. You deleted one or more of the four search engines Brave, Qwant, DuckDuckGo and Mojeek in the file search.json.mozlz4, with which Mypal 68.13.7b is now delivered by @feodor2 as default, by using the extension mozlz4-edit. That doesn't work, of course. The easiest way to get rid of them is removing them in the Options dialogue of Mypal 68. If you do so, they will remain hidden until you restore the default settings one day.1 point

My own secret to my success with Windows 11, is just a repeat of what I've done with every OS going all the way back to '98. I don't get my ISO's from MS. Then after I install the OS, I clean out any Bloatware, widgets and apps that I don't want or need. Then I have my own set of Tweaks that I apply. OH, and I also disable any MS Auto Updates. They can just be TOO dangerous. Then I can sit back and relax, and enjoy my Windows OS without all the hate and discontent that I see voiced on these internet forums. Yes, Windows ME, Vista and 8.0 were all mistakes, probably released too early. They all had problems, that as a working PC tech, I had to deal with, even when I'd not run them myself. Thank Goodness, those OS's are all just History now. One big add on to Win-11, is the Classic Shell, which I've been using since Windows 8.1. It does make the GUI more user friendly. Cheers mates, and Merry Christmas,1 point

Well, ok, thanks for that suggestion, anyway I plan to keep using 360Chrome until it really stops working on many sites.1 point

Interesting. Technically, I modify ALL of my extensions (disable any phone-home shenanigans, disable any auto-update, defuse any timebombs, customize GUI, modify descriptions, remove any "donate for beer fund" frat-mentality nags, et cetera). But I don't recall any 'declarativeNetRequest' permission issue with "I Still Don't Care About Cookies". My work-version manifest.json has the below, unsure if my home-version is identical or not. <excerpt> "permissions": [ "tabs", "storage", "http://*/*", "https://*/*", "notifications", "webRequest", "webRequestBlocking", "webNavigation" ], </excerpt>1 point

Regarding this intel issue (perhaps) and the recent ability some sites have gained to get real set up specs, I caught this "dissapearing" pref every now and then in SP52 (also now in Mypal): devtools.telemetry.tools.opened.version, "{\"DEVTOOLS_OS_ENUMERATED_PER_USER\":\"52.9.0\",\"DEVTOOLS_OS_IS_32_BITS_PER_USER\":\"52.9.0\",\"DEVTOOLS_SCREEN_RESOLUTION_ENUMERATED_PER_USER\":\"52.9.0\"}"); I cauhgt this very rarely, and will blank it out soon and see what breaks in the devtools, if any thing.1 point

May be the function ti fix the internal search was never provided, so to be invented. search.json.mozlz4: can either delete a file from the profile or edit it If delete then to add custom search engines, but if you have such. one search.json.mozlz4 not enough or may even be not needed addonStartup.json.lz4 i deleted it and restart twice, my addons all restored, not sure about others, then to edit the file I keep do efforts to add new features also sse version is already done, to publish it soon before the end of the year I want be in time Implement `:is()` and `:where()` selectors, depends how many depends. So only sse folks may count and all others should not take the next version. Next upon the new year i want to updating the javascript to 91 level.1 point

After the recent changes to the search engines in the last versions of Mypal, @feodor2 seems not to have removed some obsolete entries regarding Bing, Wikipedia and stp (Startpage) from his code which lead to errors in the Browser Console. Here is a small excerpt from my Browser Console in Mypal 68.13.7b: Maybe, this can be removed with the next release. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Home users like myself will probably consider it if the price is reasonable. If Microsoft expects everyone to pay $300.00 per year they can forget it, especially since the security updates are going out anyway until January 2032 with IoT enterprise versions so it's not like it's a major expense for them.1 point
