Did you notice, @j7n and @VistaLover, that vertical scrolling is indeed possible on those sites by using the arrow-up/down and page-up/down keys (at least in St.52 , be sure to click on the canvas first to ensure it gets the focus)? Hence that sabotage/discrimination of UXP browsers could be estimated only as partial successful3 points

I tried that one, too. When I switch CUVID on, it becomes brighter, you know why?3 points

... Yes, it is ; so does middle-clicking my mouse inside the page and moving its wheel up/down: But my point isn't limited to just being able to scroll ; if one doesn't thwart discourse's browser-detection scripts, one will just get the dumbed-down version of the discourse-based forum, with limited functionality - and a top banner: which needs further actions to be removed (cosmetic filtering, if you use a content blocker , or a userstyle), if not just ignored... Kindest regards !2 points

Indeed, I wrote my own unified starter app for Chrome and Opera, it passes a gazillion of flags and enabled/disabled features to the executable, I shared it with several members, everyone's happy with it, I never used quotes. I must be not educated enough.2 points

It is, going out in January and they're already sending out their pester messages to "upgrade". When I get around to it I'll be setting up my gmail account with Thunderbird.2 points

This was not the question D.Draker asked, he asked if there were quotes in the command line under chrome://version/ on his screenshot. For me, it doesn't seem like the member has troubles understanding English.2 points

I wasn't catching anyone in a "a grammar trap." Come on, there's one million of live witnesses. Also, as religious people would say, God sees everything, fear of God. A fair solution would be now you both apologize. EDIT: Maybe then I reconsider postings of my valuable information, Take a note, it also says --flag-switches-begin, it's the beginning, also no quotes.2 points

Yes, there's a correction in place, like I said! Of course! But whadda I know, I only a "doctor" Exactly! Thank you!2 points

Lol, look at the screenshot I posted again, look at the screenshot he himself posted. too. There's simply no quotes in the Command Line under chrome://version/: --enable-features=WebContentsForceDark,TurnOffStreamingMediaCaching,Yada,Yada No spaces between features either!2 points

It sure does, 11 is still somewhat new for such home projects like MPC-BE, so my recommendation for the OP is MPC-HC.2 points
-
From what I know, MPC-BE developer intentionally blocked the bypass of any HD sound on anything older than win10. Of course it's artificial. Those formats are from the Vista era, Vista is capable of them.2 points

Unfortunately, I have no choice! I would like to visit the past with a time machine. I think so but I don't want to discuss that here. Anyway! I just wanted to find out if anybody else noticed this issue. For comparison reason, I would prefer a testing on a real machine, no VM. Just to find out whether Glarysoft behaves differently with vs. without POSReady updates.2 points

YouTube is absolutely fine for me. I have 8GB of RAM fitted, but my 32 bit XP installation can only see 3GB of course. Try installing this extension, which can get rid of a lot of the bloat which slows down YouTube. Note that this is the last usable version on this browser. 360Chrome Enhancer for YouTube Extension 2.0.115 (Last for 360Chrome).crx1 point

Hi there. I hope this new version helps, but the YT choppy behavior affects all browsers currently working in XP, unless you are willing to suffer ads in a vanilla profile. And even then it chops.1 point

Nothing out of the ordinary, Opera was a paid browser, too. But with Opera we knew where it comes from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_(web_browser) With this browser, I support the author, nothing wrong with it being paid, though he'd have to be more transparent.1 point

I had the same warning with all of the 360Chrome iterations. A coincidence?1 point

I also haven't been able to find any connections opened to Chinese IP addresses, much unlike 360 Chrome. The "expires in one year" is a restriction in the application itself. If you try running the browser in August 2024 or later, it will silently crash. However, there is a logic error in the timebomb so it will run for the first seven months of the following years. However I think a patch for it would be technically a crack as it is proprietary software with restrictions on launching.1 point

Supermium moves to the stable branch (version 119/120) at the end of this month when the next release will be made. This should reduce the number of upstream-inherited bugs. GDI rendering should be perfected for this release as well and there will be an option to disable prompts for "unsafe downloads" (and avoid having a sample of the downloaded file possibly being sent to Google). The GDI option in particular will have improved rendering of remote fonts over Vista-level DirectWrite.1 point

There are no quotes under chrome://version/ on his screenshot, why did you ignore the most important subject, I wonder? I'll answer, it's because Chrome doesn't need them. Whatever outdated info he passed to the chrome executable, chrome seems to be correcting it. Outdated, hence the keyword "archived article" he used. I couldn't have been able to port new browsers or anything to Vista if I hadn't knew it, so him calling me a doctor might have been an exaggeration, but overall he's right, I know "a bit" more about Chrome. With the current state of things on the forum, where people simply can't support normal discussion, I'm going to limit my free support, I already cancelled my ported Opera project, no more posting of modded nVidia drivers either.1 point

Then could it be the thing that HD sound is also broken on win11, since the developer is fixated mostly on win10? I read reports of the sound troubles on 11, too.1 point

Or simply add this command line flag. --enable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Availability It can and will be removed, next year, I guess, so is the policy option.1 point

Quick Startup is a stand-alone Startup Manager from Glarysoft. It cleans up the autostart function under Windows. The free tool identifies those programs that are started when Windows is booted or when the user logs on. The programs, scheduled tasks, plug-ins, application services and Windows services in their startup locations are then clearly listed in tabs. You can activate or deactivate the respective entry via sliders. Glarysoft's Quick Startup also lists a short description and a rating for each element. Changes can be undone via a button. This tool offers additionally the possibility to start programs (not services) delayed which do only a few. It is free of charge and also part of the Glary Utilities where it is simply called Startup Manager. It is fully XP-compatible. I can definitely recommend this tool. All features work as advertised. In my opinion, one of the best startup managers I am aware of. Here is its homepage: https://www.glarysoft.com/quick-startup/ Download link: https://download.glarysoft.com/qssetup.exe The current version is 5.20.1.185 and also embedded in Glary Utilities 5.203.0.232. I am beginning to wonder what thread we are in here. This thread was opened by me to talk about Startup Managers for Windows XP. So please, back on topic, guys! I also continue to wonder where all these supposed Windows XP users actually are. Testing my problem takes only a few minutes and is completely unproblematic. At the moment, I seem to be the only one using Windows XP Professional SP3 32 Bit with all POSReady updates on a real machine (no VM).1 point

Hooray! There are still real Windows XP users here in the Windows XP Forum. Now we are already three! @NotHereToPlayGames, @tekkaman and @AstroSkipper. Even if that doesn't really help me now, I'm still glad to hear something like that.1 point

When I say a real XP user, I mean using Windows XP on real hardware and no VM. I need a confirmation from a user with Windows XP SP3 fully updated including all POSReady updates as my issue appears only under this condition. I just want to find out if my partition or the Glarysoft Startup Manager has a problem. You do not have POSReady updates installed in your system, so you're out. Sorry! But thanks for your reply! And of course, you are a real XP user, too.1 point

To all real (no VM) Windows XP SP3 (32 Bit) Professional POSReady users! Is anyone else here in the forum who can or can't confirm this issue described in the quoted posts? I am still interested in a confirmation in terms of the issue described in the quoted posts above to decide whether it is POSReady related or not. This request is addressed to all members using a real (no VM) Windows XP SP3 (32 Bit) Professional, fully updated including all POSReady Updates. Or am I the only real XP (32 Bit) user here? Thanks in advance! Greetings, AstroSkipper Apparently, I am really the only real Windows XP user, or no one is willing to do a 5 minute test as described above. TBH, both options are a bit tragical, unfortunately.1 point

Autoruns is one of the rare tools to get a complete list of all important entries in terms of autostart programs, services, drivers, tasks, handlers, codecs and so on, sorted by categories. To be honest, I never felt the need to remove such entries shown in your screenshot. Any regular entries will stay in my system as they are. For me, Autoruns is a perfect tool in finding remnants of already uninstalled programs or services. I use it regularly for this purpose and for additional control.1 point

And here is a general tip for all those who already use or want to use such a startup manager. Because of the different ways in which these programs manage startup entries, only one should be used at a time. If you change your startup manager, all manipulations of the startup entries must be reset before uninstallation, otherwise some could suddenly be lost. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Just for clarification, I am primarily interested in confirmation or the opposite that this error also occurs with others or not, under POSReady updates installed and if possible on a real Windows XP machine as I use it, for reasons of comparison. If you already use Glary Utilities (5.203.0.232) under Windows XP SP3 POSready, you do not need to install Glarysoft's Quick Startup. You just have to open its embedded Startup Manager. However, if this error does not occur with others, I would have a much bigger problem. But I cannot imagine that, and I do not hope so, of course. Therefore please, provide information about your experiences! The more, the better! Thanks in advance!1 point

I actually created this thread because I have a problem with Glarysoft's Quick Startup. I deliberately kept the title of this thread a bit more general so that any software recommendations or problems with Startup Managers can be posted here in the future. Now to my problem. I have two Windows XP system partitions, both with the operating system Windows XP Professional SP3 with all existing updates installed. All POSReady updates were also installed on one partition, but not on the other. In both partitions, Glarysoft's Quick Startup has been installed. Unfortunately, I have now an issue with Quick Startup in the partition with all POSReady updates. Although this issue is a minor one, maybe one of you can confirm this strange behaviour or help me to solve it. In the main program window, Quick Startup is not able to separate the application services from the Windows sevices. All of them are listed under the column application services. In the partition without POSReady updates, Quick Startup does not produce this issue. Application and Windows services are separated correctly. Here are two screenshot to demonstrate this issue: First, a screenshot of Glary Utilities' embedded Startup Manager without this issue taken from the partition without POSReady updates: And here is a screenshot of Quick Startup with this issue taken from the partition with all POSReady updates: I already tried a lot to solve this misbehaviour. TBH, I assume that this issue has anything to do with the POSReady updates. Any confirmation and of course tips for solving this would be much appreciated! Kind regards, AstroSkipper PS: (Da ist der Wurm drin! Translated literally: There's the worm in it! - meaning: There’s something very wrong with it!)1 point

@Slavich : How does your latest post above fit into this thread/topic?
