My 360Chrome isn't un-googled though, and it still doesn't auto-update, at least I've never been aware of it doing so.2 points

Sorry! Sometimes, I am simply blind. I totally overlooked the About window.2 points

... As your "initial" doubting has since been generously upvoted/liked by the known possee , let me again draw your closer attention to my original post here and its first embedded image (which I hope is visible to you ), where it's clearly seen I was using NM28 v28.10.7a1 (32-bit) (2023-08-10), which, to the best of my knowledge, is "the latest release" ... Kindest regards.2 points

The website https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/animation causes 100% utilisation of my CPU on my old computer. Animations of any kind are now killers of old, underpowered computers. I have already deactivated various animations in different ways in my browsers. Now, I have also installed the extension Stylem and installed the following CSS style via copy and save from userstyles.org: https://userstyles.org/styles/180927/disable-css-animations-and-transitions-safely This actually stops any CSS animation on the site above and brings my processor back to normal.2 points

Thanks for the link! Never heard of this driver before. I use the GeForce Release 307.83 WHQL which was actually the last official driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 6200. But we don't want to go into that here, as the whole topic is off-topic. This thread is still about @roytam1's browser releases.1 point

I read it gets back on its own, I don't have links at hand now, sorry. But it was the reason people started to simply remove this service from their ISOs completely, like he did, before the install. And I think delaying doesn't stop from downloading them, so they still accumulate on HDD.1 point

From my experience, the only driver that somehow worked to accelerate video on XP, was the iCafe one (chinese for cyber cafes). 368.91 https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRAPHICS-BOARD/NVIDIA/NVIDIA-GeForce-iCafe-Graphics-Driver-36891-for-XP.shtml1 point

For starters, this GPU model is not even properly detected, judging by the screenshots. Memory size: N/A and so on.1 point

GPU usage is not relevant in this case, you need to look at Video Engine load.1 point

It will then not install, says manifest is damaged, better replace with zeroes. Like: https://0.0.0.0.org/board/topic/1 point

I'm using the un-ungoogled version, and I have never seen any of my extensions auto-update anyway. Clicking the 'Update extensions now' button appears to do nothing. As I do have extensions whose current versions don't work with 360Chrome, I'm very happy with that! I've not done anything knowingly to prevent auto-updating.1 point

If GPU-Z shows the GPU Load on Windows 7 but not on Windows XP, it is most probably a driver problem. Additionally, you can try other tools as for example Process Hacker or Process Explorer which can also show the GPU load. If they all fail, it is definitely a driver or missing sensor problem.1 point
-
Thanks, I already had GPU-Z 2.15.0 but for some reason it never shows GPU Load for me on XP. Test PC: HP laptop from 2008 XP SP3 + Win 7 SP1 Dual-boot It doesn't show GPU Load on XP SP3: It shows GPU Load on Win 7 SP1: I tested other GPU-Z versions (0.8.5, 2.2.0, 2.4.0, 2.36.0, 2.40.0), but it didn't change anything, it never shows GPU Load on XP. Any ideas how to make it show GPU Load on XP?1 point

Hello @Reino! Allow the website userstyles.org completely in eMatrix! Then, check if you have done that correctly: For google.com, I use @VistaLover's SSUAO Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:65.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/65.0. Here is a proof that it works as already reported: This is the link of the website shown in my screenshot above: https://userstyles.org/styles/180927/disable-css-animations-and-transitions-safely If you still have problems accessing this page in New Moon 28, simply delete the browser cache and reload it! I had the same problem. Lately, this website has really become crappy for UXP browsers, unfortunately. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

For me the problem is not one of whether Win7 will support the latest version of FF it is how long the FF versions it can run are viable for at least general browsing. I still use a much earlier version for that purpose and another even earlier version which works for a WinXP VM on the same PC. But increasingly web page functionality, including posting here, does not work correctly. That is only going to get worse but if FF Quantum v115ESR follows a similar ageing pattern you're still going to be able to use it for a lot of online purposes, like browsing forums, 5+ years or more from now which means on any Windows version that can run it.1 point

NTLite has its own support forum/community board since several years: https://www.ntlite.com/community/index.php and it is essentially a commercial software, unlike the previous Nlite (which - years before - was largely developed and supported on MSFN), no surprise that is not (anymore) talked about much here on MSFN (I believe that many MSFN members that are NTLite users are also members of that official support board). jaclaz1 point

Hi, I'm going to present a Windows Vista feature (also XP and 2000) that I really miss in 7+: Start by dragging the Computer folder from the desktop (or if it's not there from start menu) to the edge of the screen, preferably top one. Right click it and remove show title checkbox Decrease it's size Adjust it's features as you want: either select auto-hide or always on top Aside from opening your partitions in file explorer the MyComputer bar allows you to hover over them to see available space and safely remove flash drives with right-click menu. This functionality is not limited to the Computer folder, you can actually pin and use Control Panel and other folders the same way.1 point

Well, here are instructions on how to remove cortana and lots of other stuff from win10, even with a batch file provided. How yours will be different? https://msfn.org/board/topic/177378-intergrate-popular-windows-telemetry-disabler-into-win10-install-iso/?do=findComment&comment=11495171 point

Wimlib is only faster for capture. For apply there actually more or less equal. Just wimgapi can use more than 1 CPU core, so it can speed up quite a bit.1 point

Can't you use DLP directly in place of it? I think the basic command-line is compatible. Recently YouTube figured out to return 403 Forbidden in the middle of a download, necessitating a manual check for completeness. Recent DLP seems to have a workaround for it.1 point

... The userstyles.org website and their "own" extension, Stylish, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylish-custom-themes-for/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe ONLY support Google Chrome and MSEdge (not even other Chromium forks or Mozilla Firefox*) : This has escalated beyond a "joke" now ... (*): Stylish for Firefox available on AMO is from July 2018, I bet it doesn't work with the "new" userstyles.org site .1 point

Userstyles.org now works in NM 28 and loads the site with a specific style. There is a button Install but clicking onto it doesn't install anything and shows a message I have to install the Chrome extension. However, I use the extension Stylem and thought it works for that site. I can only copy the provided CSS code and create an own file. Or do I something wrong?1 point
-
Precisely! You're welcome ; hopefully, you're not part of the "crowd" here that have publicly stated "I don't bring anything new/useful" to other MSFN members; in any case, I still haven't solved the Serpent 52 "case" you reported and I confirmed ...1 point

Ok, I have managed it. You must only change the UA for general.useragent.override.google.com and not the one for userstyles.org. Thanks you very much for your help, @VistaLover!1 point
-
Setting the UA to Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0 fixes the loading of the main page, but clicking onto any theme or style leads to an empty window as it is the case in Serpent 52. @VistaLover Same effect when creating general.useragent.override.google.com with your UA Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:65.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/65.0 .1 point

That site loads OK here (latest NM28, otherwise fresh profile), with ONLY uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2 installed (its default filters, only ) : Perhaps you're blocking too much Google-stuff, and their "app" doesn't like that ... ... Can confirm : Seems to be JS related : TypeError: o.user is undefined All these are recent page errors, after the site's (basically, an overbloated "app" ) "overhaul" ...1 point

In Serpent 52 (32-bit) (2023-08-10), the main site of userstyles.org can be loaded, but clicking onto any theme or style leads to an empty window.1 point

Unfortunately, a new issue. This happens in the latest release of New Moon 28 (32-bit) (2023-08-10) when visiting the website userstyles.org: Any ideas? Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

That doesn't generally prevent a nagscreen popup or intrusive banner.1 point

Seems fine on the MSFN pages for me, although I am translating English to English! No error messages though. The Chinese github pages I agree do not do anything when page translate is called, but translation of selections does still work.1 point

Just for completeness, my main email client in Windows XP is MailNews, which perfectly works with all my email accounts. In addition, I have installed DreamMail Pro, which also works with all the email accounts I use. Of course, MailNews is a powerful email client and more than that.1 point
-
I already checked this client some months ago. It supports the OAuth2 protocol. Do you use Office365? Does it in the meanwhile work with it? Only interesting for @Mathwiz. I don't use Office365, only the email service Outlook.com, the little brother of Office365.1 point

Is that a recent image? It also did for me, until recently. Now only Kafan does, but I don't use it, due to the bright theme, too bright.1 point

Why should I feel discredited? Such renaming by using the console is elementary and old practice. I already did it that way in the good old DOS days. But if batch renaming other parts of files, I always use the multi-rename tool of Total Commander.1 point

Thanks, the thing is, they say that command doesn't work on bare XP SP3, but Steve, Steve Cochran, Ph.D. MS-MVP 1998 - 2014, who has Ph.d and MS-MVP, doesn't agree with them. See this post. https://msfn.org/board/topic/176299-latest-version-of-software-running-on-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1249632 https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-batch-change-file-extensions-in-windows/f1b4219c-f2fe-4f25-83de-55ce8e7a71f8 MS-MVP is very serious, see here: https://mvp.microsoft.com/en-US/pages/what-it-takes-to-be-an-mvp So, to be honest, I don't know whom to trust. I heard @jaclazis an experienced member, on the other hand, we have {at least} one more user to support him, but in contrast to Steve, I highly doubt @VistaLover has ever won the Most Valuable Professional award at Microsoft, or even has a Ph.D., I can't find that information about jaclaz either, also. Looks like they both lack both, so, I want to trust them, but I just don't know... On my old XP laptop- it works, perhaps I already made the reg. fix log tome ago, I honestly don't remember.1 point

Here is a quotation from BackgroundCMD's website: Your "proper" "command prompt here" does nothing different from Total Commander's "solution" "Open command prompt window". I personally do not use the Windows Explorer for file management but Total Commander. And I don't like too much unnecessary entries in the context menu. Therefore, I can't see why such a solution is not as proper as yours. I think the following rule applies: AstroSkipper1 point
-
Right! This function does not exist in Windows XP SP3 natively but in Total Commander. You can easily open a CMD window in whatever folder you want by clicking onto the entry Open command prompt window. It is located under the menu bar item Commands.1 point

In theory, it doesn't need a hack to launch on win8. Try. For win7, I'm afraid this won't be enough just to patch it out.1 point

Hello @RainyShadow! Thanks for your reply! All is described in the documentation of the downloadable archive. Have a lot of fun! It's totally easy to setup because I have programmed a fully automatical tool!1 point

@RainyShadow! Everything has been updated as you have desired in your post from 5/31/2022. ProxHTTPSProxy is now based on OpenSSL 3.0.5 and Cryptography 3.4.8. It provides all TLS protocols from TLS 1.0 up to TLS 1.3 and its corresponding, most recent ciphers. A CPU with SSE2 instruction set is no longer required, SSE only is sufficient. Furthermore, my program package ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu has been changed completely, improved, and extended, too. BTW, it is quite a bit more than a launcher. And, what do you say now? Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Alright! That's really powerful! @mina7601 BTW, I have other more powerful computers but I do not use them. Frankly, I don't like the more recent OSes. Sometimes, if necessary, I use a Windows 7/Windows 10 dual boot laptop. But I'm going to start building a more current, by no means cutting edge computer soon. Just for the purpose of doing things I can't do with my old beloved computer. The parts have already been bought.1 point
