@msfntor : The good news (be it OT here) is that https://www.darkreading.com/ does load in latest Serpent 52 , however the font they're using does not render well: The solution is to block "remote fonts" in uBO: Back on topic, as much as you (or @XPerceniol for that matter) are enamoured with your DCBrowser , the hard fact remains it (the last XP-compatible version) is based on Chromium 75, whereas all the 360EEv13.x varieties are based on Chromium 86; mind you, "86" is now considered quite "old", too, with Google Chrome being at version 109 (and higher versions even dropping support for Win7SP1 ) ... I can easily replicate your issue with 360EEv12 (Chromium 78 based): Javascript Console error is enlightening: Syntax error is generated because the site (rather a framework the site depends upon) requires support for "?.", the optional chaining operator, first implemented in Chromium 80 (hence why 360EEv13 works ); sadly, operators can't be polyfilled (only transpiled, but at a very steep cost to performance ); nothing that would help your very aged JS engine of DCBrowser, am afraid... In the future, it'b be best to accept that webpage rendering issues in DC are due to it being obsolete when it faces the web of 2023+; make provisions to migrate to something newer (browser, OS, whatever...); this is a hard reality the majority of us face currently... Bon après-midi ...3 points

Yeah, something similar has been done for older versions of MacOS. Someone took a backup of the repo of the last working compile for MacOS 10.7, and then started backporting fixes for it. https://github.com/blueboxd/chromium-legacy. In fact, Chrome now requires MacOS 10.13, but this program can run on 10.7 to 10.12.3 points

... But the original query there was about "32-bit application support", which I assumed to mean "32-bit application support" under a 64-bit (Vista) OS ... And I believe the screenshot there relates to such a use-case (just take a closer look at the UA...) .... Being a user of 32-bit Vista myself, I'd be the first to welcome any good news about Vista ExtKernel supporting the 32-bit OS archictecture, but it seems we're not there yet...3 points

It's probably out of their radar sight rather than breaking Pale Moon deliberately. I suspect most devs in general, if they were to look into the browser, would dismiss it as being slow and archaic. I just figured out I can actually check the version through my user on the instance running at workplace, apparently it's updated to the latest 25.0.3. Source code is here: https://github.com/nextcloud/server I found there are 4 files, each containing 2 incompatible class definitions (can't find them on the above link though), running the snippets through Babel and adding Palefill rules to do some search and replace fixes the errors and can now refresh the page without crashing, but I couldn't figure out the CSS magic required to make scrolling work when there are too many files to show at once.2 points

It barely differs from IE9 at that stage of development anyways rendering engine wise. IE11 was pretty much the only decent IE since IE5, and it was pretty much dead on arrival for obvious reasons. A lot of why IE sucked though was more to do with maintaining corporate compatibility and Microsoft internal decisions, rather than the actual IE team being incompetent - after all, it was them who started the tradition of sending cakes upon new major browser versions This comes from the IE7 era: Amusingly, they sent them a cupcake when Firefox switched to rapid-release cycle: https://www.geekwire.com/2011/cupcake-firefox-5-microsoft-fun-mozillas-rapid-release/2 points

Thank you VistaLover for your wise explanation with the interesting details... I do as you say: I accept without blinking an eye that DCB won't make this site for me - it's their loss. I can get the bad fonts like in your first screenshot when I disable uBlock. But with uBlock enabled, the fonts are as in your second screenshot, whether I have fonts enabled or disabled. To make it easier on the eyes, I use the Owl addon (Owl - Dark Background by tk) v2.2.8 in Basilisk Moebius, which darkens the background. And I confirm that 360EEv12 (based on Chromium 78) won't let you render this site, but that's okay with me - I just use it sometimes for testing...2 points

Not really much point, even IE11 barely works anymore. Unless there's some piece of software you use (corporate thing) that requires a later version of IE than 9.x or other fringe reason...1 point

Wow, that was quick! This is going to sound paranoid (because it is) but it sounds like the folks at NextCloud discovered - horrors! - that Pale Moon had started working with their Web site and immediately started looking for a new way to break Pale Moon. Can't have non-Google-approved browsers accessing our site - that would be a "security risk!" No, I don't think that's what happened - probably just a coincidence - but given what folks seem to think "security" means nowadays, I can't rule it out....1 point

You're welcome. This is quite simple : 1st - for firefox, youtube usually serves H264 (less CPU hungry, so less stuttering). 2nd - for chrome, usually AV1, VP8, VP9, H265 (very CPU hungry). You may try to play with the spoofing of the User Agent, but youtube can also identify the browser by some other means of fingerprinting. I know there are extensions to tell youtube to use H264 1080p only, but never used them myself.1 point

I'm not sure if .NET and Visual C++ is the cause of crackles and lags or not. I have noticed that my host XP will always play the cited video without dropping any single solitary frame! But the same EXACT 360Chrome v13.5.1030 from within inside VirtualBox v4.3.28 will drop FOUR frames for the cited video, that's correct, only FOUR - but playback is EXTREMELY choppy the ENTIRE SPAN of the video. The choppiness has nothing to do with "dropped frames". Playback is HORRIBLE from within VirtualBox despite NOT dropping frames!1 point

YES these problems if browser works without refreshing some time... .NET Framework 1.1 and Hotfix and 2.0 with two security updates... ..and I don't see Visual C++ in Ad/Remove Programs - so I don't have this Visual C++! Is't BAD ???1 point

Hi, I didn't find a good custom shell folder tutorial with the right registry settings, so I share mine with a Desktop icon, a Start Menu entry and a Folder Option checkbox. This custom shell folder is usable in Explorer (browsable like My Documents) {4c64f810-31ec-11db-a98b-0800200c9a66} is a ClassID given by a GUID generator. You can call this custom shell folder by his ClassID. ex. : "explorer /e,::{4c64f810-31ec-11db-a98b-0800200c9a66}" If you know how to add a checkbox in Display Properties same as My Documents got, please tell me. In the Windows Registry, just OEM Link will be replaced.
