OT: Today, it has come to my attention (quite by accident, TBH ) that an Eclipse forums member has appropriated my MSFN forums "username" (VistaLover): https://board.eclipse.cx/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=239 Until one specifically visits that member's profile page, it isn't clear/evident (by simply reading posts of him[?]) that "I" have no affiliation whatsoever with that member there; of course, I don't claim any copyright over my MSFN username , just thought I'd make it crystal clear to those MSFN members happening to have an account at Eclipse (some sharing the exact screen name between the two) that I am not that member ... Apologies for the OT, hope you all have a great New Year...2 points

The Chrome version 110 will come out in February, and Chromium-based browsers and applications will base themselves off 110 starting from then. Right now it is still somewhat obscure. Opening a file and checking its version information would be slower than what GetVersionEx does, which is to make a call to another function which accesses a data structure located in memory. But Chromium already did both and still does now. I think the big difference is that some Windows 8+ specific code paths are still being skipped in Opera.2 points

Basically the board got taken down, the hoster didn't want to host it anymore. I later got a free server, however nobody knew how to set it up so it remained down. I finally got the basics working in late October and it took a bit of fiddling with configs to get it fully working.2 points

@legacyfan No, I don't think latest version of CCleaner works on Vista without ExKernel, dependencies for latest CCleaner version are: USER32.DLL (decided to write the missing functions here, as I selected KERNEL32.DLL in the above screenshot): QueryDisplayConfig GetDisplayConfigBufferSizes And latest CCleaner also requires winbio.dll, a Windows 7+ DLL.2 points

Hi all and merry X-mass, I got bored and with the help of @Dixel and some amount of inspiration I sometimes get from @win32, I butchered the latest Opera 96 (110) to make it run on our beloved Vista ! This chinese browser Opera is based on the newest Chrome 110, which is officially supported only on Win 10 +. Also, I forced it to use its native hardware Skia engine 110. (which is now blocked on win 7 by default). For those who still drive their Sd.Kfz.8, Opera 95 and Chrome 109 are the last for win 7, so as of now, win 7 and the extended kernel for Vista are not able to run the 110 Chrome version. Please don't ask me about running it on WIn 7, I don't know (or won't tell) anything. In theory, it's possible for win 7 to run it. But only if you edit the browser code. (which is forbidden). Only Vista related questions. Thanks. Opera EULA says we can't edit their code, so I shall share my hacks/findings with @win32 and maybe he will be able to implement this in his next kernel release, so all of you could run it without the editing hacks.1 point

This is a continuation of my previous nVidia tutorial, but this time I decided to do it for folks with the extended kernel by @win32! As we know, the last officially supported driver was from the early May of 2016. This one is from 2017 ! Some may say it's a miracle , you betcha ! This driver was tested and confirmed fully working on 600, 700, 900 and 1000 series. Except the cheapest GT1030. You need the ex-kernel installed, I tested on a clean Vista with the updates up to 03.2019.+ the kernel. It's not allowed to share modded copyright protected material here, hence the new topic with the precise instructions follows. Tools you need :Driver Signature Enforcement Override, Universal Extractor and any HEX editor you like. I would not use either on Vista. I would use (and do use) v94 forks for anything I run with Vista or higher. I have no need for anything higher than v94. And there is no such thing as "future proof" - we can only find what works for us "today" and we have to decide for ourselves if we want to be a dog chasing its tail with constant updates that gain us nothing or if we are content with running "old" and not having to deal with the hassle and nuisance of constantly upgrading.1 point

In 1906, the Bronx Zoo Put a Black Man (Ota Benga) on Display in the Primates' House By Bill DeMain 1906 photograph of Ota Benga, described as being taken at Bronx Zoo. / Public Domain, Wikimedia Commons When the New York Zoological Park (now the Bronx Zoo) opened in September 1906, people visiting the Primates’ House encountered a startling sight. There, amid the cages full of exotic animals, they found a human: Ota Benga, a member of the Mbuti pygmy tribe from what was then known as the Congo Free State. Though he was just 23 years old, this was not the first time Benga had been publicly displayed as a curiosity. Benga was brought to America by explorer and missionary Samuel Phillips Verner, who first exhibited him at the notorious “human zoos” of the 1904 World’s Fair. His life before the fair is largely a mystery—as Pamela Newkirk writes in Spectacle: The Astonishing Life of Ota Benga, “Given the various conflicting accounts offered by Verner as to how he acquired Benga, the true story will probably never be known.” The Man With a Five-Cent Smile A 1904 St. Louis Post-Dispatch article claimed a tribe had held Benga captive as a slave until Verner purchased him at a slave market. A 1916 New York Times article said Verner met Benga at a Belgian Army station, where soldiers had saved Benga from a cannibalistic tribe. And there were more variations in-between. Beyond that, it’s also thought that Benga had a wife and two children, who were killed either by Belgian forces looking for ivory or a hostile tribe. In 1904, Verner brought Benga to the U.S., where he displayed him at the St. Louis World Fair (officially called the Louisiana Purchase Exposition). The main draw was his sharpened teeth, which he showed for five cents. Though newspapers at the time said they were shaped to facilitate cannibalism, tooth sharpening was a common form of body modification within Benga’s tribe, and did not indicate someone who noshed on human flesh. After the fair, Benga returned to Africa with Verner, then later accompanied the missionary back to the United States. According to Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s African American Lives, “Otabenga married a second wife, a Batwa woman who died from snakebite soon afterward. The Batwa blamed Otabenga for her death and shunned him. That decision appears to have strengthened his relationship with Verner.” Though again, Newkirk points outthat Verner gave differing versions of events over the years. By the time Verner brought Benga to New York City, the explorer was broke. Eventually, he contacted William Temple Hornaday, the then-director of what is now the Bronx Zoo, who agreed to temporarily loan Benga an apartment on the grounds. Whether Hornaday had ulterior motives from the start is unclear, but before long, he was displaying Benga as another exhibit. "Is that a man?" According to New York Magazine, in his first few weeks, Benga wandered around the grounds of the zoo freely. But soon, Hornaday had his zookeepers urge Benga to play with the orangutan in its enclosure. Crowds gathered to watch. Next, the zookeepers convinced Benga to use his bow and arrow to shoot targets, along with the occasional squirrel or rat. They also scattered some stray bones around the enclosure to suggest the idea of Benga being a savage. Finally, they cajoled Benga into rushing the bars of the cage and baring his whittled teeth at the patrons. Kids were terrified. Some adults were, too—though more of them were just plain curious about Benga. “Is that a man?” one visitor asked. Hornaday posted a sign in the Primates’ House listing Benga’s height and weight—4 feet, 11 inches tall and 103 pounds—and how he had ended up at the zoo. “Exhibited each afternoon during September,” it read. If Hornaday’s attitude toward his new "acquisition" needed further elaboration, it was summed up in the tone of an article he wrote for the zoological society’s bulletin: "Ota Benga is a well-developed little man, with a good head, bright eyes, and a pleasing countenance. He is not hairy, and is not covered by the ‘downy fell’ described by some explorers ... He is happiest when at work, making something with his hands."... That was already in Win10 era when no more development was done for Win8.1. Another forum member said he was not getting any artifacts in AG version 1.4.5, but I think it was a coincidence due to other factors, not that that version did it right.1 point

Well, I finally solved it about a year ago in one of those rare instances when I actually manage to find time to work on my long-suffering never-completed projects. You can stop the process that "deselects" these components by editing their respective .INF files and commenting out the "ValidateProc" line in each of their sections. Extract MOTOWN.INF and MMOPT.INF from precopy2.cab if they don't already exist in the main \WIN95 folder. Find the sections [media_acm], [Rec], [Vol], [media_clips], and [CDPlayer]**. Comment out (place a semicolon at the beginning of) the line in each section that begins with ValidateProc. (i.e. ;ValidateProc) Save changes. This should solve the problem. ** = I don't remember anything offhand about the [CDplayer] section; or whether or not this is required. I may not have looked into it further at the time, but just handled it similarly to the others once I figured out how to prevent them from being deselected.1 point

Space Documentaries by Destiny - Best videos 2022 Something Strange Is Happening To The Solar System - Best Videos 2022 by Destiny - 99,587 views Dec 24, 2022 It would seem that the Solar System has been studied by mankind, if not completely, then in full detail. The planets have all been identified for a long time, rovers have been traveling on Mars for a while, comets and asteroids have been almost counted by name, and even the soil from one of them was taken and delivered to Earth for research. But this is where the scientists were dumbfounded. It turns out that our entire solar system, including the far, far away Oort cloud located at a distance of a light year from the Sun, is immersed in a giant bubble! Its diameter is 1000 light years. And what is remarkable, our Sun is practically in the center of this bubble! Are we really living in a huge bubble?! And how does our solar system actually work? "I watched this entire video over the past week and that last bit made me realize... even if you could live forever it would be a sad and terrible existence when everybody else is gone for good. And I think death is actually a good thing. After a long and love filled life, loving your friends and family and the beautiful of our existence. When we all have to be gone from earth, can we live in space without being depressed? Without missing our Sun? Or Earth... the wind... the oceans and trees. Life is fleeting and this is a beautiful gift we all share right now." Scientists Are Worried! Something Wrong Is Happening On Jupiter Right Now by Destiny - 1,346,772 views Oct 15, 2022 Scientists don’t only study planets, but also their weather. And on one of the planets in the solar system, there are storms 1.3 times the diameter of Earth, and raging with a force that is hard to imagine. What's going on with Jupiter, and why is it so important that everything is okay with the gas giant? "I always imagine that - when we die, we will become this "free spirit" noclip mode that can just roam around the universe in whatever speed that you want. So that you can explorer every wonders of the universe." It Might Happen For the First Time in 100 000 000 Years! by Destiny - 158,426 views Nov 26, 2022 Huge tsunamis tear down coastal cities and flood entire countries. Millions of refugees rush to the land that remains untouched. There’s not enough food and fresh water for everyone. Mass starvation and wars begin. Some scientists say this is what will happen to our planet in the near future. But what will be the cause? A huge asteroid impact? A supervolcano eruption? No… just this microscopic green plant, snow algae. Scientists have created the first large-scale map of their distribution across Antarctica. Researchers found that from 2009 to 2019, vegetation cover in Antarctica increased more than in the last 50 years altogether. Soon the white continent will turn green and then disaster will break out around the world. Although... Antarctica has already been covered in dense forests at least twice in Earth's history. What was happening on the planet back then? Why do scientists think that ancient Antarctica was covered with trees? And why would the transformation of an icy continent mean the total collapse of our world? "If this was two hours long it would have been perfect!" - yeah, 13:50 only...1 point

Enabling Chrome Web Store to funtion "as intended" also enables a cookie that you can not delete, a cookie that sends telemetry to Google, a cookie that you can not delete, a cookie that talks with each and every web site you ever visit, a cookie that you can not delete, a cookie that tracks your web usage across all browsing sessions, a cookie that you can not delete, a cookie that is even set in Incognito Mode, a cookie that you can not delete. This cookie is constantly sending "data" to Google. You don't have to sell your soul to Google to download extensions. There are better ways. I'm not so privacy-conscious that I wear a tin foil hat, but things like blocking this Google cookie doesn't require any tin foil. But I do cook all of my Christmas cookies on foil because then the cookie pan last a very long time.1 point

Of course Kaspersky would deny. I too deny I eat too much chocolate. I'm sure the U.S. gov. did a thorough investigation, you don't trust the U.S. gov.? On the photo below: the creator of the Firm Kaspersky, Russian security services KGB (FSB) officer Kaspersky Yevgeny Valentinovich.1 point

Great feedback. I'm hearing that the new prompts are confusing, but otherwise it's working correctly. The warnings are necessary on this first version. They will be phased out very quickly. I'm getting rid of the "Apilog.exe ... rerun" one now. It will revert to canceling the load silently. Done! The switch to enable auto-stubbing of load-time missing API's is a running ApiLog.exe with logging (to console or file) enabled. You do have an invalid AppHelp.dll in your path that fails to delay-load at each boot, however. Sheet.dll already had some issues that still need to be fixed. Only the version string display code was updated. What version were you using previously? The new ordinal support in Kstub825 is fully documented. The definitions work exactly the same as for named functions. The ordinal numbers just need to be specified as shown in the examples with leading zeroes as padding so they sort correctly. I've also replaced ExitThread with ExitProcess so apps don't hang if a missing API gets called. Kex22_26pre2.7z1 point

Release of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 I am pleased to release my brand-new version of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 to the public. The main feature of my program package is @cmalex's ProxyMII, a TLS 1.3 proxy. I replaced @heinoganda's TLS 1.2 proxy from my last release of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu REV3e 3V1 by @cmalex's TLS 1.3 proxy. This sounds simple, but, unfortunately, it wasn't. A lot of problems had to be solved to implement this proxy completely, enhance functionality, and get control of it as convenient as the old one. ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu is a one-click menu in systray to access and control the brand new TLS 1.3 proxy ProxyMII, better known as ProxHTTPSProxy, credits to @cmalex and its original creator whenever. All information about ProxHTTPSProxy can be found in my article: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183352-proxhttpsproxy-and-httpsproxy-in-windows-xp-for-future-use/?do=findComment&comment=1213600 which will be updated in the next time. @cmalex's ProxyMII, dated from 2022-07-17, is now based on OpenSSL 3.0.5 and Cryptography 3.4.8. It provides all TLS protocols from TLS 1.0 up to TLS 1.3 and its corresponding ciphers. ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 is the third release of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu 3.0, now in version 3.0.0.0, shortened 3V3. It is a synthesis of the excellent, brand new TLS 1.3 proxy ProxyMII, dated from 2022-07-17, credits to @cmalex at MSFN, several self-programmed executables and a very few commands, credits to @AstroSkipper at MSFN, the freeware PopMenu 3.0, credits to Jochanan Agam at freeware.persoft.ch, the open source utility Min2Tray v1.7.9, credits to Junyx at junyx.breadfan.de, and the program Certificate Updater 1.6, credits to @heinoganda at MSFN. If you wonder when the second version was released, the answer is very simple: never. This version was unofficial. ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu is not a classical launcher, it is rather a systray pop-up menu. It can be totally customized and continuously extended according to the user's needs due to its modular structure, therefore, much more flexible than a classical, compiled launcher. More features can be added easily without touching the existent code. Due to ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu's modular structure, the user can change, add, delete and reorder features. Even the icons in the menu can be changed easily by the user. Here is a screenshot: System requirements: @cmalex's ProxyMII was created by Python 3.7.1 which requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable or Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (latest version 14.28.29213.0). Furthermore, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is now required to run my program package. Check if both are installed in your system! A CPU with SSE2 instruction set is no longer required, SSE only is sufficient. Features of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3: Here is the complete list of features implemented in ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 and a short explanation of them: Start ProxHTTPSPoxy – Activates the proxy's settings in IE LAN Settings, starts the proxy, and deactivates and cleans its settings after closing, all automatically. Stop ProxHTTPSPoxy – Stops the proxy and closes its status window. Minimize ProxHTTPSProxy to systray – Minimizes ProxHTTPSProxy's status window to systray and shows its icon there. Restore ProxHTTPSProxy from systray – Restores ProxHTTPSProxy's minimized status window from systray. Hide ProxHTTPSPoxy – Hides ProxHTTPSProxy's status window completely. Show ProxHTTPSPoxy – Shows ProxHTTPSProxy's hidden status window again. Check if ProxHTTPSPoxy is running (in RAM) – Checks if ProxHTTPSPoxy is running in the background. cacert.pem Update – Performs an update of the file cacert.pem. Root Certificates Update – Performs an update of the system's Root Certificates. Open IE Proxy settings – Opens the tab LAN Settings in IE's Internet Options. Close IE Proxy settings – Closes the tab LAN Settings and IE's Internet Options completely. Check system proxy status – Checks whether the proxy is used system-wide or the system has direct access. Enable ProxHTTPSProxy system-wide – Permits the whole system to use this proxy. In this mode, services can route their traffic through the proxy, too. Disable ProxHTTPSProxy system-wide – The proxy can be used only locally if it is running, generally all have direct access to their servers or the internet. Edit config.ini – Opens the file config.ini with the editor Notepad to check or modify the proxy's configuration. Read documentation – Opens the documentation with the editor Notepad to get quickly information. In the screenshot above, you can see a red arrow. This is the icon of ProxHTTPSPoxy, minimized to systray. It's a new feature, and the green marked items have been added to the pop-up menu since last release. ProxHTTPSPoxy's PopMenu is provided together with ProxyMII from 2022-07-17, created by @cmalex and branded by me as ProxHTTPSProxy 1.5.220717. This new archive called ProxHTTPSProxy TLS 1.3 1.5.220717 PopMenu 3V3 has been additionally updated by me. These are the changes to the previous version of ProxHTTPSPoxy's PopMenu: Changelog of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3: @heinoganda's ProxHTTPSProxy REV3e replaced by @cmalex's ProxHTTPSProxy 1.5.220717 with a brand new TLS 1.3 support. New starter program StartProxy.exe created to activate the proxy settings, start the proxy, and deactivate its settings after closing, all automatically. cacert.pem updated to the most recent one. Alternative cacert.pem from Mozilla, updated to the most recent version dated 2022-07-19. The open source utility Min2Tray has been fully implemented by the new configuration tools Configure PopMenu.exe and Setup Min2Tray.exe, all automatically. After the setup procedure, the programs PopMenu and Min2Tray are started automatically. All self-created files are not UPX-compressed. Therefore, the version is a noUPX only. Two new items added to the pop-up menu: Minimize ProxHTTPSProxy to systray and Restore ProxHTTPSProxy from systray. All unnecessarily embedded files have been removed from my self-created executables. Changes in calling up other programs. In all my affected programs, protection against code injection has been improved. This leads to preventing of future "space bugs", too! Different issues, which could have been noticed only in very rare cases, have been fixed. All unnecessary code has been removed. New bugs I additionally found have been fixed. Autostart entries of PopMenu and the new Min2Tray, automatically added to the registry by my configuration program, have been fixed in regard to the "space bug". All message windows of my programs have been resized and adjusted for a better visibility. All my self-created program files have been recompiled by using a different compiler. @cmalex's original ProxyMII wasn't modified by me, except a replacement of ProxHTTPSProxy.EXE's program icon, back to the old one and an update of the file config.ini to get access to the Microsoft Updates (MU) website with this proxy. Installation and start of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3: Check if Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable or Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (latest version 14.28.29213.0) is installed in your system. Check if Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is installed in your system. Unpack the archive and copy either the complete folder ProxHTTPSProxy_TLS_1_3_1_5_220717_PopMenu_3V3 or its complete content to your desired location. Install the file CA.crt, located in the main program folder, to Trusted Root Certification Authority under the account local computer, or use the program ProxHTTPSProxy Cert Installer, provided in the archive. Go to the subfolder PopMenu and execute the program Configure PopMenu.exe. PopMenu and Min2Tray will be started automatically. A more detailed documentation, titled Documentation of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu 3V3, can be found in the subfolder Docs of my program package and should be read before using ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu in any case. All features and more are described there. The programs PopMenu and Min2Tray have a very low usage of RAM. It's only about 2 MB and 4 MB respectively. And here is my release of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3: Download of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu 3V3: Link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/4sqkixfd2waaypt/ProxHTTPSProxy_TLS_1_3_1_5_220717_PopMenu_3V3_CheckedByAstroSkipper.7z/file Password: CheckedByAstroSkipper. All files in my archive are definitely virus-free and clean, although some AV scanners produce false positives. I recommend adding the complete folder to the exclusion list of your security program(s), only if you trust me, of course. Apart from that, you can also check positive reported files on VirusTotal, though. If you find a bug, need help, or have questions relating to this package, post it in the commenting zone of this thread here! And finally, we, @cmalex and me, would be very pleased about posting your experiences and opinions relating to ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3. Any reactions by commenting, liking, and up-voting are welcome! All this can be done in my threads https://msfn.org/board/topic/183352-proxhttpsproxy-and-httpsproxy-in-windows-xp-for-future-use/ and https://msfn.org/board/topic/183684-looking-for-a-person-with-python-programming-skills-to-implement-tls-13-functionality-in-proxhttpsproxy-rev3e/. As you know, an author of software lives from the feedback of the users! Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point
