  1. Updated DCBrowser: - Applied delcert and libase to several DLLs and to the EXE file (detailed list on TXT file). - Added a custom launcher for DCB (BATCH file for the browser) (needs to be in the same place the "DcBrowser.exe" is). - Changed location of DCB download (Now Internet Archive) Download --> https://archive.org/download/360EE_Modified_Version Regarding the launcher ("DCB-Launcher.bat"), it forces the browser to create the user data folder in the same place as the executable of the program, if you don't want this you can easily remove the flag "--user-data-dir" in the launcher. The launcher is a separate download. This is also a test, if it works well for the people using this browser I will do it to the rest of the browsers I share. I want to know if everything goes well. Cheers.

  2. Including signing onto Micro$oft 365.com to authorize OEClassic to access my emails! @Sampei.Nihira mentioned having trouble doing that with IE 8, but with Serpent 55 (technically not UXP but pretty close thanks to @roytam1's work) I had no trouble setting up OEClassic to access my 365 account. I agree, and it's actually worse: if it's a long message, the ads aren't necessarily added to the end as a kind of mandatory signature, but instead are inserted a few lines down from the top, interrupting the flow of the text! That's completely unacceptable for anything beyond the most casual correspondence, so paying up is really mandatory. I had to laugh at one of the limitations: The spelling checker checks the first word only! What's the point of that? Might as well have just left the spelling checker disabled in the free version, if it has to be that crippled. That said, it does work, and appears to be the only option for using 365 with Windows XP. For Windows 7 and up, I'd probably stick with Mozilla Thunderbird, which is both free and full-featured. I don't know if that was intentional (and a warning would've been nice so NM 27 users could move their profile folders beforehand), but it's definitely useful if one wants to use both NM 27 and NM 28 on their PC. Otherwise both NMs would try to share the same profile, which is not likely to work out well! Serpent 55 also uses "Moonchild" so those of us with both Serpent 52 and 55 have benefited from separate profiles since the beginning.

  3. No idea what these are Can't do that, the first reason being because I don't know how and also because I believe it is hardcoded. You should be able to change the default search engine on the settings of the browser. AFAIK, I thought it was based on Chromium 75

  7. Try again! The last days, their website was unavailable due to a certificate error. It seems to be fixed now. BTW, there was and is no need to open a new thread for an error with Legacy Update, actually. We already have two threads about WU/MU. Specifically for Windows XP: And for Windows in general: Kind regards and Merry Christmas, AstroSkipper

  8. Plus Widevine is one of those ugly Google things built with an expiration date, sooner or later it stops working and you need a new version. Look on the bright side, that way, you are liberated from those POS streaming services.

  13. Yes, I've this same version. It's not orange, but "Relocated Dll's" light brown color (carrot color), like other Dll's we've talked about...... Its Module size by Process Hacker: 36 KB, but in windows32 folder: 23 KB compressed by Windows surely file size...

  14. From what I am seeing with limited testing only on the cheap laptop that I travel with, I'm seeing it a less strain on CPU Surge to keep the loader COMPRESSED. I'll have to revisit when I can test on a couple of different PCs.

  15. @Dietmar the problem did not depend on the files used which are the ones you uploaded but the path of the symbols. I had always extracted the 'Symbolsss.7z' file inside the pre-existing "c:\acpi\symbols" folder and got the missing symbol error for ntkrpamp.exe. Instead now, extracting the .7z file inside the "c:\acpi\Symbolssss" folder, that error no longer appeared: Now though, how should I proceed since the 7F BSOD I get is not necessarily dependent on the nvme driver I am testing? Or rather, the error occurs only when I install that driver on the system nvme disk, then install the video drivers (ATI or nVidia doesn't matter) and finally perform the reboot. No problem when the same driver is installed for an nvme data disk.

  17. The Goog Strikes Again Google Translate is now broken* in Serpent 55 and 52; so probably in all of @roytam1's browsers. Not sure exactly how long ago but I think this is rather recent. And to think we just got named regexp capture groups! Can anyone tell what they broke this time? *Specifically, tranlation of Web sites is broken. And I'd use DeepL but it doesn't translate Web sites (at least not the free version).

  18. IIRC, it was mentioned somewhere in the notes by the Russian crew that 360chrome originally had a custom DLL signature check (i.e. not dependent on Authenticode), which for modding purposes has been patched out for chrome.dll and the rest, but not for chrome_elf.dll for security reasons.

  19. Installed software can influence whether chrome.dll will make it to 0x10000000 address or not, eg. I have number of programs which DLLs load in most processes - Actual Window Manager, HardLink Shell Extension, VirtualMIDISynth, Office 2010 - all of these have DLLs that compete for 0x10000000 spot.

  24. To Make Sense of the Present, Brains May Predict the Future | Quanta Magazine https://www.quantamagazine.org/to-make-sense-of-the-present-brains-may-predict-the-future-20180710/ Neuroscientists have long suspected that a similar mechanism drives how the brain works. (Indeed, those speculations are part of what inspired the GQN team to pursue this approach.) According to this “predictive coding” theory, at each level of a cognitive process, the brain generates models, or beliefs, about what information it should be receiving from the level below it. These beliefs get translated into predictions about what should be experienced in a given situation, providing the best explanation of what’s out there so that the experience will make sense. The predictions then get sent down as feedback to lower-level sensory regions of the brain. The brain compares its predictions with the actual sensory input it receives, “explaining away” whatever differences, or prediction errors, it can by using its internal models to determine likely causes for the discrepancies. (For instance, we might have an internal model of a table as a flat surface supported by four legs, but we can still identify an object as a table even if something else blocks half of it from view.) In other words, you create you own destiny. <--- I wrote this, but coppied that article.

  25. @UCyborg An excellent approach!, works as intended on my XP x64. It's pretty funny that even though I've already personally modded this DLL, it didn't even occur to me to consider such "invasive" methods at this point - typically when people have these kinds of issues, they don't want to start modding as the first thing (breaking file signatures is "bad"! what will anti-virus say?! ), so you kind of condition yourself to try and find configuration-based methods first and foremost. But since we're modding anyway, this is highly appropriate! For those who want to use this method for other applications, it seems that libase.exe doesn't like file signatures (my 1030 chrome.dll still had it while 2022 doesn't), which you can remove for instance with delcert.exe, available from here.

  26. Very depressing news.. I had feared for the worst for some time now, given that he had not been active here, and had not responded to messages I sent previously. Den was one of the few people "online" who I considered a true friend, and I will sorely miss his presence here. While I had not spoken much with him over the past couple of years (where does the time go? ), he was always helpful and always ready to give clear insight on whatever issue we discussed. He was very wise, and not only on the subject of computers. While not the subject of this forum, he understood historical and political nuances that befuddle most. I believe my first interaction with him revolved around problems with a flash drive.. and IIRC by the time it was over the discussion included rloew and jaclaz as well. Now of these greats only jaclaz remains with us. I never expected to become one of the "old ones" - yet here I am. My pitiful knowledge can never live up to the bar set by Den and others, and I will never be the "diplomat" that he could be when dealing with differing viewpoints and difficult members. I know that this forum and the collection of knowledge that it represents mattered to him, so let us all work to continue and preserve it in memory of him. Rest in peace my friend. You will not be forgotten.

  27. Less/cut features, OK. Adds within the application, OK. But adds added to outgoing messages? WTF!? This isn't reputable by any means, especially nowadays - messages/content should always be untouched! kind regards soggi
