  1. I know, but the fact that msfntor said "Rethink your behavior." to D.Draker, made me think msfntor was angry to D.Draker.

  3. I'm not asking you to change them of course, but I've always wondered why, if you are German, that you put the dates in your posts in American format, not European format? The actual file names, I'm pleased to say, are the 'correct' way around!

  4. Very busy the last few weeks, basically returning to an irl life after nearly 3 years of being at home. Driving school, normal school, after school stuff. At least I get to take a programming class! I also may get some extra credits for working with the school tech team. I was offered that it could be possible. As with all stress though it sometimes gets to me, and I've spent most of my weekdays just playing games when I get home to relax. I use weekends for my hobbies now mostly. I'm doing fine, I think. Sometimes hard to tell if I'm fine or not after how this year has been. I think I'm okay

  5. Off-Topic: finally I got rapid test negative again, so I can go outside and order a new pair of eye glasses now. EDIT: ordered new eye glasses, will be arrived a week later, cost me HKD 2160.

  11. Hello @Dave-H! How are you? Hope all is fine with you! To answer your question you're absolutely right! When I started this thread I couldn't really decide which date format to use in general. To keep it now as consistent as possible, I have decided to leave it as I started. Actually, I prefer the format dd-mm-yyyyy as it is usual in Germany. Maybe, I'll revert it but then I'd have to edit all posts to keep consistency.

  12. Absolutely ! Weird to see smth like this "25th" month. I think AstroSkipper wrote that Germany've been americanised against his will. Hence the result. Great Britain, to the rescue !

  14. Almost there. I use now metager as main serach engine, google only when necessary. As per the latest sp52 update, it doesn't affect this bug -which, again seems to occur only with e10s on-. I have noticed that backsapce also stops working (sometimes) in the address bar.

  17. Here is the link to WiseVector's homepage where you can directly download the latest version (at the moment 3.07) and an older manual: https://www.wisevector.com/en/ . But I don't think it's portable, just like most other AV programmes are. Direct download link: https://update2.wisevector.com/WiseVector_StopX.exe Latest Manual (for the version 2.70): https://www.wisevector.com/wisevector_stopx_user_guide_en.pdf

And too look on Online Scanner: https://www.f-secure.com/en/home/free-tools/online-scanner - 11.52 MB only in Mes Documents folder...very light! - Normally, I download nothing from the net.. nothing. And I'm not going out of the house today, to touch the rain. I'm not afraid of anything then.

  19. Same! No issues whatsoever. I didn't (and don't) use new tab page either. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for the same, but not holding my breath.

  21. Also don't forget to mourn for no more Chrome for Windows Vista with Extended kernel - unless Win32 manages to run the W10 versions of it. Also don't be happy that early - eventually a Chinese fork (just like 360chrome) will allow us to get newer Chrome versions running on Windows 7 - which I don't care since it's going to drop Manifest v2 support in 2024 (can go and ---- itself with it) and I'm currently on Firefox (using Slimjet only for things like Discord and YT Music).

  22. DCB_4.0.7.22_Modified.7z - I've extracted (use WinRar v3.9.1.1) to My Documents folder of course - and it works immediately, never bluescreens, or uninspected craches. It's a pity that all our Chrome forks (DCBrowser, 360Chrome...) don't have never versions, so are abandonware for now... But I still have hope, that @Humming Owl will take over the task with DCBrowser, which I consider the nicest (Dark Mode...) from all these...that it will remove this new tab with its never used (here) shortcuts, which only make the browser launch longer and its weight bigger. Thank you, that's all.

  23. Why I switched from Avast! to WiseVector StopX There is a very specific reason why I have recently started recommending WiseVector StopX. Until now, I have always used products from Avast! and was also satisfied. On my old computer, which is low on resources and performance, I actually had Avast! Premier installed on my Windows XP partition and had been using it for many years. This year, unfortunately, I had several negative experiences. More and more often, the GUI shut down completely and showed only an empty, white window. Only a repair installation could revive it. In addition, programmes that were reported as false positives were not ignored as offered and excluded from further monitoring. Instead, their access was completely blocked and no longer released. Furthermore, again and again, almost periodically, the Avast! service caused a very high and prolonged CPU load. All these problems prompted me to uninstall the entire Avast program package. And then came the next set of difficulties. The uninstall routine is an imposition. An uninstallation had not really taken place. Whoever programmed this routine should be fired! All files and program folders were not deleted. Thus, completely useless! Even the special Avast uninstaller "Avast! Clear" could not remove everything. So I had to do it manually. The main program folder could not be deleted. Not even with administrator rights. Same with a booted Linux and Mini Windows XP from outside. Both could not delete anything from the locked files and folders. So I was thinking about a proper solution how to delete the locked folders and files. By the way, I am writing this to spare others similar problems. Anyway, the solution is either one tries to delete it under the user account System, whose rights can be obtained with suitable tools (for example RunAsSystem), or one falls back on good old DOS. And this is how I did it. I booted my computer into a real DOS mode and used Volkov Commander to delete all the locked files and folders. DOS doesn't give a damn about accounts and permissions. What needs to be deleted, gets deleted. DOS was my first OS on an IBM compatible PC, and it is an endless love. In any case, this approach was the right way to get rid of all remnants of Avast! Premier. BTW, before uninstalling, I measured the amount of disk space which was consumed by Avast!. And I was stunned. It was about 1.5 GB in many different folders. Unbelievable! After that torture, I installed WiseVector StopX at last. I configured it as well as possible and tested it deeply. WiseVector StopX is very light-weight and consumes approximately 100 MB of disk space in only one program folder. It has less RAM usage, very low CPU load and is easy to handle via its tray icon. On my old computer, it's simply perfect. The performance of my system has been increased, all actions are much faster than before. In short, I am impressed and very happy with my switch to this antivirus program. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  26. Thanks for the flowers! The question mark though is a bit undefined and can be interpreted in different ways. Firstly, I am rather a batch than a JavaScript programmer if at all. Indeed, I created some custom buttons using JavaScript in the past. Reading reference manuals and using already existing code snippets was what I did to get the right code for a specific custom button. In some cases, I did it from scratch by myself, in others I used already existing code and modified it. One of my strengths! But frankly, far away from a good JavaScript programmer. Otherwise, I wouldn't post websites here that no longer work properly due to JavaScript problems, which no one really seems to be interested in, though. Secondly, as I posted in the previous browser thread https://msfn.org/board/topic/182647-my-browser-builds-part-3/?do=findComment&comment=1227973, I already created such a custom button. It toggles a boolean variable from true to false and vice versa in about:config. The status of this variable is shown by the button itself in the form of an image that changes its colour, i.e. its image accordingly. Actually, I created this button for a specific boolean variable, but it can work with any other if you change its code slightly. It works perfectly in New Moon 28 and probably also in other UXP browsers , but in Serpent 55, I really don't know. My custom buttons require the extension Custom Buttons, and I don't know if it is compatible with this browser. Truth be told, I never used Serpent 55 in the past. So I have to test that. Anyway, I will write a post about this custom button in my thread "Extensions and custom buttons for UXP browsers - Corrections, modifications, adjustments, and special recommendations" soon. So, stay tuned! And, this is the mentioned thread: Kind regards, AstroSkipper

  27. Yes, and despite all my complaints about the company, Google still has a pretty good search engine (both unnecessary in this case since @dmiranda answered the question almost immediately after it was raised). But a post answering a rhetorical question is usually meant to point out that the answer was not as obvious as the person asking it seemed to think it was! It's not as if we all read @UCyborg's post, slapped our foreheads, and thought, "Of course! Just set browser.backspace-action to 2! It was so obvious! Why didn't anyone think of that before, instead of suggesting all those Greasemonkey scripts?" At any rate, another little browser annoyance gone. No more hitting backspace after an unintended mouse click outside the comment posting window and losing everything! And while we're on the subject, what exactly did "issue 2019" fix? Is it related to the backspace bug, as @luweitest speculated? (And for the uninitiated - i.e., me - how does one search for "issue 2019" upstream so I don't have to keep asking @VistaLover for the answer?)

  30. Thank you for the link! I had also read this forum post at the time, but sadly its solution was ineffective for me. At that time, I really tested everything! Malwarebytes' support was also involved. There was nothing I hadn't tried. And, I have read all the articles that have ever been published. Therefore, my hope is not very high that the problem can still be solved. But as my Latin teacher always liked to say: "Neues Stück, neues Glück". Translated: "New piece (of text), new luck".

  31. At first sight, you have both a ControlSet003 and a ControlSet004 which is not "standard", normally there are only ControSet001 and ControlSet002, I have seen Windows 2000 installs with several (up to 20 or so) ControlSets, but it is a sign of previous corruption of this (or that) ControlSet. The CurrentControlSet is one among the ControlSetxxx's depending on the value of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\SelectSelect key, in theory (and AFAIK) a non-selected ControlSet should not normally be modified, yet the Nirsoft image you shared show that both #003 and #004 have changes. Cannot say if it is normal, but that site you uploaded files to attempts to make me download an executable, no good, only retrying I can get the actual files. The Regshot file "No arranca y ultimo winrescue para compartir.txt" has changes in ControlSet013! No idea as what could be the root cause, let alone about possible way to fix it for good, unfortunately. jaclaz

I hope that your recent wonderful experience to get rid of these drugs is done under the supervision of a doctor, and that people in your immediate environment are well aware of your efforts and are accompanying you! I am very moved by reading your detailed thoughts about this, and wish you the best in your recovery, success! I pray for you!

  33. I know not an antivirus, but this free tool from F-Secure is still working on XP. The F-Secure rescue DVD (linux) also still works but no def updates (of course) I think it was put to rest in 2018, but just going by memory. https://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/F-Secure-Easy-Clean.shtml <---This does not work at all now. https://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Rescue-CD.shtml PS: To be honest, as far as recovery CD/DVDs, while F-Secure does work (with outdated definitions), I prefer Norton recovery CD which is still updating. I just tried it in fact. Boots to light Linux with another tool that scan S.M.A.R.T which reminds me I have bad sectors (have for quite time some, but still huffing and puffing along) Very old equipment here, so can't complain too hard. https://support.norton.com/sp/static/external/tools/nbrt.html

  34. Did stumble into this -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeFFyg3ZJow I would recognize it blindfolded, I skipped around and only played snippets, but make no mistake, that is "my" version of 360Chrome with the XP Theme and the fixed status bar icons.

  35. This is Chromium 57. You do very well not to install. This is very intrusive, it creates a service named knbcenter.exe that prevents any modification of the installed files, so it is no longer possible to put the English language. It also slows down the Windows XP startup. I have managed to uninstall it by translating the menu from Chinese. I have saved a installation copy and just by running it, it has installed everything again, it does not work as a portable.

  36. WORKS in 360Chrome v13.5. If you are going to run XP (such as myself), having 360Chrome is kind of a MUST. It doesn't have to be you "default", but you WILL need it for "some" of your web sites. And the list keeps growing and growing for those that you will need it.
