  4. Yes , it can , they just add more and more with each newer release . I'm on the first 13 beta and not going to "upgrade".

  5. I don't know about Level 3 Communications but I did find that it connects to Level 3 Parent which I've also blocked when I still tried to use the firewall to block the IPs. I blocked the range of 8.224.0.0 to 8.255.255.255 which might be way too much but I didn't care...

  6. Exactly ! I've been saying this for a long time , don't trust Russians. I think there's only one user here that makes such claims (not pointing at anyone). For example , they didn't remove this , see proof. And who knows what was added by them . You're totally right , you're better off removing it by yourself from the original.

  7. Have you seen this post ? I had discovered this chinese DNS a long time ago (which was left there by the "talented" russian hackers/repackers), please mention me if you're going to publsih it somewhere else or in the other topics. Also , try to block my IP list (published here earlier , scroll back). https://msfn.org/board/topic/182304-extreme-explorer-360-chromium-78-86-general-discussion/page/15/?tab=comments#comment-1194253

  8. I also can't see the links with Serpent or New Moon - but on the proxy [hidedoor] - I can? I didn't think a proxy would disguise the OS - I was under the impression is just changed the location and IP. Funny thing is, I can view the same articles from other sites without problem, just not with msnbc?

  9. https://msfn.org/board/topic/182647-my-browser-builds-part-3/?do=findComment&comment=1200309 User @rereser did post (next message) below (URL above) with SOLUTION to the situation. I just BLOCKED in uBlock Origin (UBO Extension) that 'Adobe' website ... adobedtm.com And the problem is SOLVED ... THANKS so much , I would never have known ... (Leaving in place most of what I originally said in this message, as 'record' of sorts) @IXOYE , @VistaLover , @RainyShadow , @XPerceniol <-- THANKS to Reply to me here on this ODD WinXP OS situation. To 'IXOYE' especially , I say 'Misery Loves Company' ... NOT quite thankfully , I am 'pleased' to know that someone ELSE ('IXOYE') WAS (is) 'suffering' too ...

  10. No. I have this update installed on at least 3 systems - two of which have had the HDDs replaced several times so Windows got reinstalled and updates re-applied several times - and have never seen any issues from it. Continuing to quote from the same KB article as luweitest found above, You can look there to see if you have any of these files. Depending on which updates you have already installed, you may have some of them (minus the .ref suffix) also in \windows\system32 or elsewhere, probably even a newer version. In any case updates downloaded from the Update Catalog will generally have these files (or more likely a newer version, this set is VERY old, from 2005) packed inside each update as needed, although there is the occasional poor quality update that has a missing file, these will probably have been flagged somewhere in this massive thread. (As noted above, "Downloads from the Windows Update Catalog site are not affected.") So you could just get ALL your updates from the catalog and install them manually without needing to install this one first. I suspect Windows Update considers this to be a prerequisite for doing any further updates, this may be why you see this behavior of not doing the other updates. If you want WU to install ANYTHING for you, this one is probably needed first. But beyond that, I'm a little surprised WU did anything at all, I thought the update server was no longer compatible with XP since they changed all the certificate signatures to SHA2 only....

  11. Since you do not enable POSready patch, I think you could safely install all patch offered, leave off those would not install, then turn off WU for ever. Use other offline patcher alternatively.

  12. @TechnoRelic If a clean profile doesn't help, rename your HOSTS file and try again.

  14. https://msfn.org/board/topic/182647-my-browser-builds-part-3/?do=findComment&comment=1200309 User @rereser did post below (URL above) with SOLUTION to the situation. I just BLOCKED in uBlock Origin (UBO Extension) that 'Adobe' website ... adobedtm.com And the problem is SOLVED ... THANKS so much , I would never have known ... (My Original Message Content, left in place below, to describe situation) I am having strong problems to load pages (articles) on these two major USA News websites. Which, they would be: https://www.nbcnews.com ... (and) ... https://www.msnbc.com (Note: I should have said 'Error with a NON-RT Browser too' -- as more accurate) So, this happens with ALL RT Browsers, in fact ALL Browsers for WinXP OS: (1) The HOMEPAGE does NOT load on the first try. ... I have to REFRESH(s) reload it, then I see it. (2) IF I then try to open a URL from the HOMEPAGE ... For an ARTICLE, it only shows a BLANK PAGE. ... But, the HTML CODE is there inside of the ... 'VIEW SOURCE CODE' if I open that via Browser. Is ANYONE ELSE seeing this as I am ???

  17. I tested the Original Browser vs the Russian Repack and they are the same in performance and in the connections with chinese IP addresses. I am a little confused by the claims that in the russian repack was removed telemetry stuff. Also an update of the codes that I replaced in chrome.dll is that the hexadecimal code "33 00 36 00 30" has to be replaced by something like this "2e 00 2e 00 2e" (original browser v12 so far). You can use the symbols you prefer but keep the "00".

  18. Kill Em All to black album (the one you linked) and Garage Inc I like, anything starting with Load (I can't stand to hear that one) is not for me.

  19. bicycle depends if lot snow and roads have not been cleared yet then might be hard but even then can walk. Old army bicycles are option for cold endurance. Full steel frame, wide tires, no gears or handbrakes. I used to have one of those then did mistake and changed it aluminum toy that went to warranty once already since busted frame... plan get another of those army bikes some day. What comes to walking just get one of those thermal bags to phones and buy army winter jacket and gloves militaries sells as spares (british, finnish, german army atleast do so). With those can walk without worries even at near -40c to work and back. I did so during this year and 2 winters ago with bicycle. Finnish sisu is not just myth, it is reality But during summer we have warm weather allowing better use bicycles. Feels good to only use T-Shirt when bit over month ago still had heavy army jacket and gloves

  21. My favourite band is Scorpions . I see German bands are quite popular , I'm no exception. Scorpions are a German (Western Germany) rock band formed in 1965 in Hanover by Rudolf Schenker. https://www.the-scorpions.com My favourite Scorpions' albums are : almost all up to 1990 . In 1993 , with the release of their new studio album (recorded in New York) , the sound became distorted . Read here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war I guess the sound studio manager is/was deaf. They didn't need to change their recording studio. Before that the sound is/was amazing , the best albums in the 80's recorded in the Swiss Alps. I do own all of my fav. albums on original CDs , "made in Holland" in the 80's/early 90's.

  22. Wow.. so many nice mentions here - I enjoy so many genres and styles and singers - everything practically. I quote enjoy listening to oldies and have posted in our music thread to reflect; as well as some to today's music. As far as today's music, I struggle to find a band I can relate to, but I do appreciate imagine dragons and I have so much respect for Dan Reynolds ... his talent and hard work to support equal human rights.

  23. Oh, man, I just posted this in my H3llo post. I forgot I'd already asked, sorry. Well, good news! You did indeed get to me on time, coz it's still waiting patiently in my systray. Thanks to not a lot of trust in updates, I didn't install it yet without asking advice. I'm so terribly worried that one wrong click on an update will just lock me out forever! This is quite a daunting journey I'm on right now. I didn't follow your links because I didn't install the update, but I'm assuming they're fixes (that I won't need..yay). It's been soooo long since I even had WU turned on that I don't know how to get it to stop offering me that particular update - other than install which I see now is not the best option. Thank you for your response
